"To increase the chances of this plan working, I have to pick only a few targets… if I attack every single kid, they eventually will understand that they can't underestimate me. But if I attack only a small number, it should be fine. I just need to be patient, and everything will end well in the end... hopefully."

As expected, Kane observed the girl reuniting with her friends. Although he couldn't understand their words, Kane noticed that she tried to act like usual. That kind of prideful behavior would be one of his weapons.

"Some kids will probably go down even if I attack their faces, but I will need to use more Water Balls. That isn't a good idea because I can't let them see from where I'm attacking."

After a while, Kane finally understood a little more about those kids' behavior. Most of the slimes spawned on the east side of the orchard, but occasionally one or another would spawn inside the orchard, just like Kane. So, the kids would take turns to walk inside the orchards and confirming that no slime escaped from them. Maybe the coins the slimes dropped were quite valuable, and that would explain why they were focusing only on attacking the ones who appeared outside the orchard, but that greed would cause their downfall.

Although it would be a better idea to wait for the next day, Kane decided to put his plan into action now. As long as just one kid approaches, he will have enough time to hide again. Besides, as long as he aims properly, he could take down even two targets, but then they would understand that a monster attacked them.

Kane's next victim was a short boy armed with a wooden bow; he couldn't have asked for a better target. That boy was probably the youngest of the group, and given that new kids tend to do a lot of stupid things to be accepted in certain groups, the chances of that boy telling the others what happened was pretty low.

Although Kane felt a bit guilty for selecting his targets just like that, he soon got rid of those annoying thoughts. As far as he knows, all those kids were killing monsters that didn't do anything to them… even though the monsters could become a problem in the future for them and for their families, it wasn't right to attack creatures that just appeared in that world and didn't do anything. So, the very moment the kid showed his back to him, Kane fired three Water Balls.

Kane received that confirmation before the kid could even fall on the ground. Without wasting time and even confirming that he had obtained experience points as well, he left the bush and headed toward the next one, twenty meters away. However, he stopped when he heard a light thud near the kid. There, Kane found the orange-like fruit half crushed on the ground.

"I can use this…"

Instead of eating the fruit, Kane hurried to put the fruit near the head of the kid. After some of its juice fell on the kids' heads, Kane put the fruit in the place he found it. He couldn't imagine those muscle heads thinking that they got knocked down by a fruit, but after finding those signs, the kids would at least consider that. Putting the doubts in their heads was more than enough for Kane. Even if he could convince half of those kids that the fruit was the cause of their forced nap, it would be more than enough.

After hiding for ten minutes, Kane saw the short boy waking up. As expected, he looked quite confused when he noticed he had just slept for quite a while. Although he looked even more confused when he saw that his head was dirty with some parts of fruit and the orange-like thing nearby, at the very least, he got up and left without looking for Kane. Perhaps because he didn't want to make the others think that he was eating while everyone else was working, he hurried to clean himself from the juice.

Regardless, the girl was a bit sturdier than the short boy, but she still fell on the ground unconscious after getting hit by four Water Balls. As expected, skills could level up, but Kane was expecting to receive a status screen showing him the difference and how much the skill grew by leveling up. It looked like it wouldn't be that hard to keep leveling up Water Ball, but since the bonus damage increased by each level up was meager, it was only obvious.
