Middle School and Basketball Tryouts

MC POV

Today is the first day of middle school and I went with the option of a school bus instead of my parents having to take me to and back from school daily. As I entered the bus, all girls' eyes were on me and some boys were jealous and some were rooting that me to go sit with them.

But I chose a vacant seat in the second last row of the bus by the window and thinking how I will go about my basketball in middle school, as the competition is tougher as compared to elementary school and I am just a freshman, so there may not be a starter position, but I know my elementary school coach has talked with the coach in the middle school, so at least the coach knows to look out for me in the upcoming freshmen class.

As these thoughts were going through my mind, my girlfriend is also thinking about something related to me but it was not basketball.

Gigi POV

Today is the first day of middle school and as I am sitting in the back seat of the car and the driver is focusing on the drive ahead, so my thoughts went to my boyfriend and how he told me that he had to cancel today's date to try out for the basketball team and I was not very happy but he has some kind of hold on me that I can not stay mad at him and last night we were talking on the phone like the argument never even happened.

I sometimes get teased by my friends about I still act like a 5-year-old in front of him and how he takes care of me like I am the most fragile thing in the world, but I know, it's just his personality and being a big brother himself he shows that behavior in front of me sometimes as well and I kind of like it as well and with that my thoughts went back to the second day of the pre-school, on which he came to by himself and ask me to be his friend and he was my first friend as well and later we became best friends and now we started dating and it is going good and I don't want to be the one to mess this one up, so I asked my mother to help me and she was very happy to ask me to break up with him, so I had a fight with her as well and that's what I told Nate as well and his reply was once again on point, he asked me to go apologie to her and solve our problems through talking and this was not the first time he gave me sound advise, he always knows what to do in a situation like he can see the future, but like every time it worked and my mom gave me the advise I was looking for, she said I should also be considerate of Nate's choices and be there for him, like he does for me and that's why I thought to give him surprise by joining the cheer leading squad for the basketball team and that way we can spend time together and he does not have to choose between me and basketball.

3rd POV

Unknowing of the surprise his girlfriend has prepared for our MC, he debussed in front of the school and went inside to his classes, he didn't wait for Gigi because he knows that her classes would have started early and because he was in advanced class compared to her. But there were some classes which they share, that way they can meet each other without having to miss his/her classes.

MC POV

As the school ended and I started to go toward the gym and still keeping in my mind the surprise which Gigi told me about earlier, as I entered after changing into the gym clothes, the first thing I saw was that the gym was big compared to the elementary school one and the hoop height was also longer but it was not a problem for me as I practice on a regular hoop at home, I can not dunk on a regular hoop, but I can try to do it on this one and my eyes wandered to the cheerleading section and there was the surprise that Gigi told me earlier, which was she, herself in the mini skirt of cheerleader, in the line listening to her cheer captain and she also saw me and waved at me still pompom in her hand and everyone's attention came to me and they started to talk among themselves and only stopped after their cheer captain reprimanded them, but the cheer captain herself was also looking at where I was standing.

After this surprise from my girlfriend, I was also fired up and I started my warm-up as well and just lie that all the tryout players and the main team player started to enter the gym after some time and the coach was looking at me with her knowing gaze and I was also surprised by the coach was a woman, as it was not a problem with me, but I was surprised because she looked like the real-life version of Yosen High school coach in "Kuroko no Basket" Masako Araki. But she was not the same as she was not Japanese, but a black-haired caucasian woman but the similarities were there.

Then the coach asked us to line up and asked us about us to introduce ourselves and then the test began. I passed the test with ease and I dominated the team match with 50 points and 20 rebounds from me only and we had double points compared to the opponent in the game we played and there were some blocks in there as well as my defense was too much for the middle school kids.

After the tests and trial match, the coach announced the strings, the players were selected for the tryout.

First, there were the third-string players, as they were only doing this for extra-curricular looking at their test scores,s and then the second string who did not play like the third string but were not ready to be the first string as well and almost all players were in the category and last the first string in which the point guard from my team from tryouts was selected and lastly me, for me coach asked me to come forward and she introduced me to all members herself.

Coach POV

And last, this is the starter, we have chosen for the small-forward position, as our previous one went to high school and some of you might know him as he sometimes practices with you on the outdoor court, Nathaniel Dunphy and I patted him to go to the starting team line and as I said all of the team welcomed him as they know him pretty well and that was the case.

Now, that the teams and strings are selected, your string's coaches will call for you and you will practice with them 3 hours after school I want every player here to feel that they are part of the team because your good performance will only help you to go ahead in my team and not hold you back.

MC POV

So after selection, we practiced for a period to increase our teamwork from the get-go and after practice, just as I was standing at the bus stop, a car stopped in front of me and the mirror went down on the passenger side and I looked at the most beautiful girl in the world, which was my girlfriend and she asked me to get in, but I refused and then she herself got out of the car and stood on my side and her driver has to wait for her there. Then I looked at her, like what she was doing, and then she said "I will be taking the bus with you, and my driver can go by himself." She is taking the bus with me because she knows that today is Jay's night and I will be going to my grandpa's house and her house is one block away from there. So the bus came, and we got on and then we started talking and she started telling me about her cheerleading tryouts and I complimented her on how beautiful she was looking in her gear and she started blushing after hearing that after seeing my smirking face she mockingly punched on my arm like how much I tease her every time and then she told me about her shoots that she goes to with her mother and how she was going to be fashion model and then a fashion designer in the future.

After some time our stop came and we got out, I walked her to her home and she kissed me and then she ran inside like I was a villain trying to catch her. Then I walked to my grandpa's house, he made his favorite sausages and we watched a westerner which I like despite seeing it a lot of times before, and then we went to sleep.

A/N: so this is how the middle school started and Gigi's surprise and a typical Jay's night and some basketball action, not thorough but still trying to get the hang of it.
