*COUGH*

I looked at the blade piercing out of my chest in exhaustion.

"PFt,"

Blood spurted out of my mouth causing my vision to become a little blurry. I looked around to see a few corpses of people whom I had thought of once as comrades.

This was supposed to be a simple hunting expedition. I had heard rumors of an 8-star beast lurking in this forest but it seemed it was all a lie to get me out here and kill me. Even though I was a high 10th-circle swordmaster I would be overwhelmed if many swordmasters and mages came at me.

"Atticus, I'm sorry it had to come to this old friend,"

"Friend my ass," I croaked

I looked at the blonde-haired man with rage-filled eyes "Why!?" I shouted

"Why? Shouldn't it be obvious,"

I was confused, what the hell was he talking about?

"You've grown too powerful, Atticus," he stepped closer "You've grown so strong to the point that even I am afraid of you,"

He stepped closer "You are also someone I can't control. You're a wild card that's impossible to keep in check"

Once he got close enough he brought out his sword "Thus I had no choice but to get rid of you," I grit my teeth as I heard his words.

"Do you have any last words?"

"Go fuck yourself, You motherless bastard!"

When those words left my mouth I watched Gareth, my oldest friend swing down his sword. As he did many memories flashed in my mind.

I considered myself an orphan which was mainly due to my parents selling me for money and then I was auctioned. I was bought by a noble and was forced to do housework. But I then found a strange sword in the family's storage when I was cleaning it.

That sword released my slave seal which gave me the chance to escape. I'm not sure what I was thinking but I ran away from that house. It was a stupid choice as I had still gotten food and a place to sleep but if I ran I was going to lose all of that.

But I survived. I had worked as an adventurer and made my own cultivation technique. With it, I was able to become a knight of the royal palace.

But now all that seemed to be for nothing.

'Nothing? Yea right!'

Using my remaining strength I inforced my hand with mana catching the blade that was aimed at my neck. At the same time, I moved my Qi toward my soul core.

Gareth's eyes widened at the same time a burning sensation was felt near my Dantian afterward my vision turned black.

A pair of eyes filled with endless knowledge and wisdom looked at the many strings that surrounded him. On the violet strings, strange white orbs floated through them and every now and then the being would take out an orb before putting it on another string.

But then a blue orb caught the figure's attention. Picking it up the being tilted his head "Ah right, I guess I should keep my promise. Looking around its eyes then fell on the white orb that was coming from a string. Tossing the orb in its direction the 2 orbs merged before they went back the way the white orb came.

"Thank the tree that's done with,"

*BEEP*

*BEEP*

A strange beeping entered my ears causing me a bit of discomfort. I tried to move my body but I wasn't able to move it. It was the same feeling as if I had just woken up and my body was sluggish.

But I could also hear something else enter my ears. It was a voice. But it was unfamiliar-not wait I felt like I heard this voice before!

I then slowly opened my eyes.

Currently, my vision was filled with white which I soon realised was the ceiling. I then turned my gaze to where the voice was coming from to see a girl dressed in shorts and a sweater. Her skin was fair and her black hair stretched down to her shoulders. Her blue eyes, filled with nervousness, were currently looking down "I got the role although I'm a bit nervous. This is my first drama play which I have to perform so-"

Suddenly she stopped talking as she locked eyes with me. Her eyes widened before she burst into tears "You're awake!"

She then ran out of the room while yelling "I'll go get the doctor!"

'Doctor?'

I slowly got up and looked around the room with a frown. I then turned my gaze to the thing that was beeping. On it was displayed a green line which was going up and down repeatedly.

"Where am I?"

Just as I thought that a torrent of memories assaulted me causing my head to hurt a lot.

"Car…Crash? I was in a car crash? What's a car?"

Questions such as these floated around me but it was interrupted as a man dressed in some sort of white coat appeared. The fabric wasn't something I recognized at first but then my brain immediately knew who he was.

'A doctor?'

Although he didn't look anything like the doctors I knew I still knew he was a doctor. The doctors I knew wore black coats and wore raven masks to prevent any…what was the word they used? Ah right! Contamination…whatever that meant.

But the doctor was merely wearing some sort of shirt under his white coat and a weird-looking artifact around his neck.

"Mr. Taylor? Are you alright? Can you understand what I'm saying?" hearing this I nodded "Uh yes I can,"

But then my gaze drifted and I stared out the window where large structures could be seen with some sort of birds flying. On the ground, strange carriages were waiting yet no horses or beasts pushed them instead they moved on their own.

'What type of magic is this?'

Looking back at the doctor I asked "Where am I?"
