You called me for this?

Misty popped up. For a moment, she couldn't place where she was. Just a moment ago, Kason was taking her to heaven.

Oh my god, what is wrong with me?

She smacked her cheeks before groaning, pulling her knees to her chest and burying her face in her lap.

Seriously, what happened to building our relationship? First jumping into bed with Jay and now letting Kason have his way with me!

Putting aside the fact that she seemed to have no problem entertaining different men in the space of a morning, part of her was embarrassed at how fast her relationship with her mates became physical. Her old world was still conservative about things like sex and intimacy. Even though she knew that Tamult wasn't like that, she still had a lingering sense of guilt.

Misty flushed, thinking back to Jay's gentle strokes and Kason's talented tongue. She leaned back and touched her lips, imagining their kisses and she could barely suppress her desire for them. She shivered.

Forcing the thought of her mates to the back of her mind she brought herself back to the present. Even though she was distracted, she knew Kason wouldn't leave her on cold hard ground. She looked around her and realized this place was very familiar to her. She stood, gazing out at the white vastness.

"You know, I was right in the middle of something," she said, gritting her teeth.

"Our apologies. There are only so many ways for us to call you here." Melcar's horn glowed bright, making Misty wonder if that is how the creature blushed. He couldn't quite meet her eyes and he cleared his throat.

Astara, however, looked like she was barely keeping herself from falling down laughing.

"You could say your mate really did bring you to heaven." Astara snorted and the corner of Misty's lips twitched up. The little red creature was beginning to resemble a tiny cat shaped devil and she could feel her eye beginning to twitch.

"Am I going to return to that moment as soon as we are done talking?"

"No. We are sorry, but we did need to bring you here." Astera was starting to calm down and Melcar looked over at the shaking cat in disgust. She was brushing away tears of mirth from her eyes before she pounced over to Misty.

"Tamult wants to meet with you."

"And they picked now as the best time to do that?" Misty could hear the slight squeak in her voice.

Sure, I may have rushed things with Kason, but I was thoroughly enjoying myself!

Misty couldn't believe how horrible their timing was. Part of her wanted to smack them both on the head. She took a deep breath to calm herself.

"Actually…" Melcar hesitated.

"Stupid mage, just spit it out! It isn't like we can change things now and Tamult does need to talk."

"Right then." Melcar shifted and some of his embarrassment seemed to be pushed aside. "Tamult can only talk to you in one of the temples, so you'll have to go there."

"Is that it?" Misty said flatly.

"Well, you will have to ask two priests to hold a dedication ritual." Misty glared at the two of them for a few moments, her lips pressed together to keep from lashing into them verbally. She closed her eyes and let out a deep heaving sigh. She rubbed at her temples as if her head was aching from their seeming obliviousness.

"You couldn't have put that in a quick note?"

"The In-Between doesn't allow that kind of interaction." Melcar conjured a couple of chairs and a table filled with some snacks.

"Nope, too physical." Astera jumped up a low chair and snatched a fish from one of the plates.

"And bringing me here isn't?"

"You are a special case," said Astera a couple of fishbones sticking from her mouth as she licked her paw.

"Your body isn't here; it is still in Tamult. The only reason you can slide into the in-between is because according to the register you are officially dead."

"What?" Misty blinked.

"Not that you actually are or anything, Tamult made sure to grab you before that could happen, but we still haven't filed the appropriate change of worlds paperwork." Astera seemed to find this funny, and Misty looked over to her. She made a quick guess.

"You are not planning to for a while, are you?"

Melcar choked on his drink, and Misty handed him a napkin to wipe up the spatters of liquid from his robes. He stared off into the distance and didn't say anything. She looked over again at Astera and nodded. They obviously couldn't say what they were doing so she decided to leave it alone.

"What happened when you snatched my soul here?" Misty was worried how it would have looked to Kason. Whatever happened, it was right in the middle of a very intimate moment.

"You mean, how would it have looked to others?"

"Yes."

"It is like passing out or falling asleep. The closest that this place comes to existence is in the dream world."

"I am relieved, though I will have to have a very awkward conversation with my mates now." A sudden thought passed through her mind. "Is this going to be a regular thing? Am I going to be having sex and suddenly pass out right in the middle on it just so you can talk to me?" Misty's eyes widened in horror, and she started imagining the frustration that would bring.

"Don't worry, this was an emergency, even though you may not realize that."

Misty breathed a sigh of relief. Melcar and Astera had munched through the little table of food and with a wave of his hand, it disappeared.

"When do you need me to go to the temple?"

"During the Feast of the Dragons." Misty shook her head, certain that she had heard him wrong.

"Excuse me, did you just say dragons?"

"Oh, don't worry, they aren't like the dragons you would have heard about." Astera reassured her.

"Dragon is really a stolen word anyway; it isn't like your old world ever really had them." Melcar harrumphed. "Dragons in Tamult are not reptilian in nature. They are beast shifters similar to the lions or wolves you have met."

"Anyway, it is time for you to go back!" Misty tried to call out to Astera and Melcar, but the world had already gone dark again.
