Chapter 8: Into the dungeon

The duo left the Manor and after a while arrived at the guild.

"Miquella, I will do the talking when we are inside. Also we will need to ask for some beginner armor. After that I will give you the basic information about the dungeon and monsters. Then you can go for your first dungeon run. Got it?" Odin asked Miquella.

"Yeah, that's fine" Miquella replied.

After they walked inside the building they got in line.

They waited for a few minutes until it was their turn.

"Hello, welcome to the Pantheon. My name is Eina, how may I help you?" asked the elf. She had brown hair and green eyes.

'No her eyes aren't green. They're more emerald. And she looks more like a half-elf, in contrast to a pure elf like Ryuu' Miquella thought.

"Hello, I would like to register this one as an adventurer. And yes, he has a falna. He joined my familia." Odin said.

"I see, well then. Can you fill in this forum?" She asked.

"Yes, and I also want to request a beginner armor set for him. And a knife to extract magic stones." Asked odin once again with an apathetic tone.

[a/n i don't think i remember correctly but in the LN the monster corpse only disappeared after the crystal was removed. And that's why supporters always wore gloves, if the monster was poisonous they wouldn't be poisoned.]

"Yes of course. I'll be right back." And then she went into the backroom.

After a while Odin finished to fill in the forum for me. And Eina came back with some leather armor.

"Here's the beginner armor as you have requested. The Pantheon provides beginner armor for free so this one is free of charge. Also can offer some information about the dungeon. I can provide that information if you want. I can also be this girl's personal adviser."

"Hmm. First off, He's a boy. Here's his forum. And we would like to take you up on that offer. I haven't been to Orario in a long time so my knowledge may be outdated. It's best to hear the information from an experienced informant. It would also help to sell the magic stones in the future. What do you think Miquella?"Odin asked Miquella

"I don't mind." He said

"WHA-... HE'S A B-" Eina wanted to screamed but stopped when she looked around and seeing all the people around.

"Yes he is definitely a boy. But don't you have a lot of work at the moment? To also be Miquella's advisor will be quite the toll." Odin asked.

"Well i'm already one's advisor so another one won't hurt." She said "Now shall we?"

"Of course, lead the way"

And then they went to an isolated room, Miquella still silenced on the order of Odin.

The room they went in was very simple and had few furniture. They also had two couches facing each other and a table in between them.

"So the first thing I'll say is to never ever ever damage the dungeon."

"Why?" Miquella asked.

"Because then the dungeon will spawn a juggernaut. It is a sort of defence mechanism." Surprisingly Odin answered his question.

"Yes, just as you said. You need to know that the dungeon is alive. While damaging it a little bit is no problem as the dungeon will just repair itself. Doing big amounts of damage will activate its defences. Being a Juggernaut. Even high level adventurers will have a hard time fighting it. So if you see one, leave immediately.

Also be aware of the walls. The monsters spawn out of them so they can surround you in a moments notice or just attack out of nowhere when your guard is down.

Now that that is out of the way, let me talk about the floors. There are a total of 4 floors: upper floors ranging from the1st to 12th floor, the middle floor from 13 to 24 and floor 18 called Rivera acting as a safe floor for adventurers, Lower floors ranging form the 25th floor to 36th floor and the deep floors going lower starting from the 37th floor. And even till this day the big familia's are trying to explore more floors.

So as you are a beginner adventurer let me talk about the first 4 floors. These floors are for starting adventurers, having stats between I and H. The common appearance in these floors are goblins and kobolds. Now a goblin is a-" But before she could continue Odin butted in.

"He doesn't need to know about the monsters yet, let him learn on his own. This will help his growth and give him a habit to prepare for the unexpected." Odin said

"...I see, euhm anyway. Another warning but be aware of the other adventurers. They might want to steal you for your crystals and might even kill for it."

"I see, thank you for the information Miss Eina. Now I'll be off to the dungeon I guess. Wish me luck." Miquella said after getting the basic information.

"Don't you need to eat little one?" Asked Odin.

"No I don't. So I'll be heading to the dungeon immediately." Miquella answered.

"I see, best of luck and don't die"

"Good luck Miquella"

Leaving the guild with his leather armor equipped he went to the dungeon.

After arriving he went straight to the first floor, not minding the gazes that fell upon him from the people around him.

As he arrived at the first floor he saw a hallway and the walls were coloured light blue.

As he went in deeper he spotted his first ever monster, three of them to boot.

It was a green plump humanoid figure with. With a giant head, his ears were pointing upwards and he had what seemed to be three horns on his forehead. The middle one considerably longer than the other two. He had fur running up from his heels all the way up to his armpits.

After seeing them Miquella conjured a golden ring and fired it at the trio staring at Miquella in shock as they didn't expect a human.

As they were in close proximity to each other, the ring cleaved the three of them in half at the same time.

"Wow, they're weaker than I thought" Miquella said as he went to retrieve the stones.

As he went deeper in, he killed some more and more and more. And at some point he arrived at the second floor.

"Well, I still have some time...I think." And then he went in deeper.

This time a was fighting a wolf like creature standing on two legs. And he was having a harder time than the green midget but nothing to worry about.

"Will you stop moving already!!" Yes the problem was the agility

Even though the rings were fast, they were quite predictable. The wolf would just crouch, wait until it passed by him and sidestepped before rushing him again.

But there was only one remaining. He was fighting eight previously so the wolf already saw his abilities.

'damn, weren't monsters supposed to be brainless and fight on instinct? Fuck. This one clearly has brains. I need to surprise him somehow... Shouldn't he think I can only use spells for long distance... Alright I have a plan'

Miquella fired a spell so that the wolf would move again, but this time not firing a backup spell. This gave the wolfhead the opportunity to close in. After he was in range, Miquella conjured with his right hand a giant golden sword.

"Die"

And he swung it from right to left. Cleaving the wolf in two. He was looking at the golden boy with wide eyes full of shock, but said boy had a wicked smile on his face after seeing the blood-fountain. And even he didn't know he was making such an expression.

After admiring his artwork subconsciously, he assessed his previous battle.

'Well, my close quarters combat sucks. Only thing I could do is conjure a big ass sword and surprise the enemy. But what if they come close without knowing... I'd be dead. So I got two options. Learn how to wield a weapon and train my body or learn a new spell to help with it...'

The option was made very quickly.

'New spell it is. OOH. Maybe I can make like a floating sword or spear... or BOTH!! And then they would transform to fit the situation... I'm a genius.' Miquella thought.

'So should I go to the fourth floor? No it's already been a long time and I already saw a few adventurers go back up so I guess I should to.'

Yes, he wasn't on the second floor anymore but went further to the third. And even got a monster that gained some intelligence thru some means. Any other newbie would have died but he thought it was a slightly more annoying pest.

After his observation he went and collected the stones. The bodies of the wolfs turning to ash. Which he was used to by now. He remembered his first time seeing this just a few hours ago. He was totally in shock. I mean, the corpse disappeared

'Curse Odin for not letting Miss Eina continue her explanation. Then I would even know which monster was the Goblin and the Kobold. But I already think I know who is which. As I heard the adventurers say that goblins are the weakest so they must be the fat midgets. And the dogs would be called kobolds then. Well never mind that.'

After ending his inner thoughts, he exited the dungeon and went to the guild.

When he arrived he went straight to Eina.

"I'm back." He said to her

"OH. Miquella you're back. How was your first dive? Hurt anywhere?" She asked worryingly.

"mhm, as you can see just some nicks on the armor but that's about it. And it was quite the experience."

"And how many floors did you go thru? I hope you stayed on the first. But even the second wouldn't hurt yet I think." She said.

"No, I went to the third." Miquella said with no particular emotion.

"YOU WENT WHERE!?" She screamed at Miq.

"To the third, I got quite the bounty." Miquella then placed the bag full of mana stones on the counter.

"...HAAAA. I give up. You and Bell are the same. Just going to deeper floors just because that one was just that simple. You two would hit it off if you knew each other." She said to no one in particular while grabbing the bag and placing it on a scale.

"hmm? You know Bell?" I asked her.

"Yes I am his adviser, same as I am to you. Do you know him?" She asked him.

"Yeah, I helped him a few times. We're friends." Miquella answered.

"Well i'm not surprised. Here's your payment. Have a good night, Miquella." Eina waved Miquella goodbye.

"You too Miss Eina." Miquella waved back

And then he went to the Twilight Manor.

"So, how was your first dive, lad." Odin asked.

'seems he's gotten more comfortable.' Miquella thought

"It was fine and kind of fun? But I have a major weakness I have to fix." I said to Odin.

'He is the god of wisdom and magic. Getting his expertise on this would be helpful... Even tho i'm a (demi-)god myself.'

"OH, what weakness" Odin asked curiously

"My close quarters. They suck. I would be dead if they get too close." I said clenching my fist.

"And what are you going to do about it?"

"A new spell. I can make a new magic spells with 'The Fundamentalist' skill. I can maybe even put in prior commands like ; defend me. And the spell will do just that."

"I see, and what were you thinking about? I assume you already have an idea."

"Well-"

"so, Miquella finally went inside the dungeon?" I asked

"Yes, and he seems to be quite proficient in spell-casting. While having some problems in close quarters. But he is already powerfull enough to go beyond floor 4 as he didn't have any trouble with the monsters on the third floor"

"I see. That's great news. Now, what about Bell?"

"Well, the supporter seems to plan something and will act tomorrow."

"I see, keep an eye on it and don't let him die"

"YES, goddess"

And then he disappeared

"AH. Now I can see my two little candidates growing at the same time. One with a pure white soul of innocence, while the other golden as the first rays of light that shone upon this land. But behind that a bloodthirsty killer. HAHAHA. I can't wait. My Odr. Who will love me for who I actually am. My consort eternal..." She said to herself

"... But why did you have to go to that old fossil? Miquella. Why? Well, not that it matters. I'll get you in some way or another. Just like with Bell. heheh. I can't wait."

BIG CHAPTER. BUT!!

we have a problem for next week. and the week after that.

SO, I have a crazy lot of tests planned out for next week which I need to study for. And mind you I have a test everyday. THEN starting Saturday I will not be home anymore for another 2 weeks. I will go on end of the year trip with my school to Italy. I will not have my pc with me cuz of risk of losing it or it getting stolen. But I will try making test-chapters on my phone which I can then refine at home and then mass release it. I will be trying to update next week in between my studies but I doubt it would happen. So at worst expect a 3 week hiatus.

Also I haven't been updating for the last few days because of a mix of mental fatigue and school work. Really school FUCKING SUCKS. And now we need to learn FUCKING POLITICS. LIKE WTF.
