[THANTOPHOBIA] - the fear of losing someone you love - ### Everybody called her Jasmine but her real name was Diane - who hid behind her loud, enthusiastic character while Jasmine embodied it. Her eyes grew tired every night but nothing stopped her because it was all for her future. Her grip weakened as she fell onto the ground with blood pouring at the back of her head. She was alone. Helpless & weak. Her vision blurred but what she never forgot was the sound of a blade grazing against metal and that was the first time she met him. In a dark alley. She inhaled his scent - golden amber & vanilla whiskey. She knew he was hers when she buried her face into his neck that was warm & welcoming. The complete opposite of him - Isaak Johnson-Rivera. She found comfort in his embrace But it was all short-lived until they met again. She was a retired nurse who was now a wedding planner. And he was set to be a Don. After all of these years he was still hers and she was still his. Even though they burnt each until they were numb, he was still able to sweep her off her feet and leave her guessing. It was both of them against her family - Yulia Golov. The woman Isaak was set to marry. Little did he know the wedding planner was Diane and when he saw her again her gaze was different. Her aura had changed. She was cold, different, altruistic. The opposite of the person he knew from before. The hatred was evident as it poured out her sky blue eyes and he hated himself for it. But their love could overcome everything. Right?

DIANE

I caught a glimpse of Claudia, who was driving a knife into a man's chest. I was horrified, but I had to keep looking for Yulia and Roseline.

I moved towards the door, but just then, I saw Yulia appear behind Isaak. She pushed him aside and attended to Viktor. My heart stopped, and I felt like I couldn't breathe. I had to do something, but I didn't know what.

"No, not him!" Yulia yelled, her voice filled with panic. I saw the fear in her eyes.

"Over my dead body will I let you kill him!" she screamed. I crouched down at Viktor's level and I pointed my gun at her father, noticing that his breathing had already stopped. I looked up at Isaak, and I could tell he already knew. "He's as good as dead, anyway," I said.

Yulia shook her head in denial. "No," she sobbed, her tears falling like a river.

I stood up, and walked over to Isaak.  He looked down at me, placing his hand on my waist.

Yulia ran her hands over his bloody face, her expression filled with grief. "I can't lose him," she whispered, her voice breaking. "I can't lose you, too."

I almost didn't see her movement, but it was too late. She had grabbed a gun from somewhere, and before I could even blink, she had pulled the trigger.

Time seemed to slow down, and I felt my body go numb. The room was silent, and I couldn't hear anything except the sound of my own heartbeat. I felt a rush of adrenaline, and my hands started to shake. I looked down at my body, and I saw the blood beginning to stain my clothes.

I felt my body falling, but I couldn't feel anything. Tears were blurring my vision, and I couldn't focus on anything. My mind was racing, and I couldn't make sense of anything.

"No," I whispered, my voice shaking. I looked to my side, and I saw Yulia, still shooting at Isaak.

I watched as he fell to the ground, his body covering mine as he tried to protect me. He had taken the bullets for me.

My heart stopped beating, and I felt like the world was crashing down around me.

Tears spilled over my cheeks, and I tried to blink them away. I refused to cry, but it was too late. My sobs began to echo around the room, and I couldn't stop them. I tried to hold onto the thought that he wasn't gone, but I knew the truth. I could feel his heart beating slower and slower, and I knew that I was losing him. I couldn't bear it.

"You promised," I sobbed, my voice broken and hoarse. "You promised me." I couldn't contain my grief, and it was spilling out of me.

"It's all because of you," Yulia yelled but I could not longer hear her. Nothing else mattered.

I heard another gunshot, and I knew what had happened. Yulia had shot herself, and I couldn't find it in me to care.

My focus was on Isaak, and I felt my heart breaking into a million pieces. He was slipping away from me, and I couldn't stop it.

The Italians tried to pull me off of Isaak's body, but I fought them with all my strength. "Where were you?!" I screamed, my chest heaving. "Why didn't you help him?" I cried, my voice echoing around the room.

I was hysterical, and I knew it, but I couldn't stop.

I had lost the love of my life, and I felt like I was losing my mind.

I couldn't take it anymore.

I just wanted it all to stop.
