Chapter 57

“You’re his mate. He’ll want you by his side at all times.”

Eli frowned. Varg claimed he was his mate, but he’d mostly been annoyed with him and hadn’t wanted to spend time with him unless it was to have sex or beat him. “Do all mates want to be together?”

“Yes! Now, should I try to find him?”

Trying to find Jaecar would mean she’d pass out. He couldn’t carry her for long, and staying in one place to wait for her to wake up would leave them both in risk of getting hypothermia. “I don’t know. I can’t carry you.”

She was quiet for a long while. “Are you sure you can’t carry me?”

“Do people normally carry you?”

A strangled laugh left her. “They do. I must have gotten used to it, or I always freak out a little when I wake up in a different place than where I was, but usually Leo is there when I wake.”

Leo? Interesting“Is he now?”

“Stop it. He’s a little more caring than the rest of the bunch.”
