Chapter 19

The moment I saw David, my heart pounded like a relentless drumbeat, each thud echoing the tumultuous storm of emotions within me as I locked eyes with the person I hated, the mastermind of my suffering in my past life. His entrance, or his coming to school, was unexpected and unwelcome.

In my past life memories, David never really came to classes. Why did he choose to come today? But I ignored my thinking because the surge of anger coursing through my veins was palpable, threatening to consume me entirely, making me think of nothing but to confront him right here. My normally calm demeanor had been shattered, replaced by a fiery maelstrom of hatred burning in my chest.

The air around me seemed to grow heavy, suffused with the raw intensity of my pent-up rage. Every muscle in my body tensed, my jaw clenched so tightly that it felt as if my teeth might shatter under the pressure. My fists, once relaxed, now clenched into tight balls, knuckles turning white with the sheer force of my grip.

My vision tunneled as I focused on his adversary, my nostrils flaring with each labored breath, the taste of my own fury bitter and acrid on my tongue. It was a moment of reckoning, a collision of unresolved grievances and smoldering resentment that had festered for far too long.

I could feel the bloodlust rise within me, an insatiable hunger for retribution, for the chance to unleash the tempest of emotions that had been confined for too long. It was a dangerous precipice, teetering on the edge of rationality, and I could almost hear the whispering demons of vengeance urging me to take that fateful step.

As the seconds stretched into eternity, my gaze bore into David's soul, an unspoken challenge hanging heavy in the air. It was a showdown of epic proportions, a clash of wills and emotions that threatened to erupt into a violent tempest at any moment.

In that charged moment, I stood at the precipice, a volatile cocktail of anger and bloodlust coursing through my veins. The world around me seemed to fade into insignificance as the flames of my fury burned brighter and hotter, waiting for the spark that would ignite the explosive inferno within me.

The moment I stood up, everybody looked toward my direction because the impact with the table had caught everyone's attention.

Emily, sitting right beside me, tapped my hands, which were placed on the class table, trying to gain my attention. But I ignored her because all I could think about was confronting David. The bloodlust and anger within me had been unleashed the moment he entered the class.

"Are you okay, Kazuma? Is something wrong?" said Emily, placing her hands on mine with a worried expression. I pushed her hands away abruptly and turned my head to look at her, my rage intensifying.

"I don't need your help," I voiced out with anger, which left Emily shocked and stunned at the expression on my face.

"But I am worried about you, Kazuma. Didn't we become acquainted yesterday?" said Emily, her face showing a worrisome look with tears hinting at her eyes.

Before I could reply to Emily, a voice came from the front of the class.

"Who is that kid?" said David, asking the class teacher while pointing towards me.

"It's the transfer student, Kazuma Sato-" Before the class teacher could finish her statement, David slapped her across the face.

"Why is he sitting near Emily?" said David, his tone and expression revealing his anger.

"I am sorry, David. It was the only seat left free," said my class teacher, placing her hand on the side of her face that David had just slapped.

"Hey, David, stop that. Why did you do that?" said Emily, rising up and voicing her complaints about David slapping the school teacher.

"Shut up, Emily. He raised his voice at you, and you know what I do to anyone who does that, right?" said David, giving gestures to his two lackeys, Peter and Cole, to step forward towards me.

Emily walked to the front of me, stretching her hands to create a barrier to block Cole and Peter from reaching me. She shouted in an angry tone, "Don't you dare touch Kazuma. If you do, you will live to regret it."

"Will you stop this 'good girl' act?" I said to Emily.

"What do you mean, Kazuma? I am trying to help you," said Emily.

"And what do you think started all of this?" I said with a cold and calm expression.

"I–" Emily started stammering because she couldn't come up with a response.

"You see, and if you'll excuse me," I said to Emily as I walked past Cole and Peter, who only gave me a cold look.

When I reached the front of the class, David blocked my path and said, "You're just lucky, Emily begged for you, but there won't be a next time."

I looked at David, my expression cold. My killing intent had reached its limit, but I managed to calm myself down. I said to myself, "I shouldn't rush things. I will get my revenge on everyone who wronged me, and I am going to enjoy it. I shouldn't let my anger take over me."

I smiled at David and said, "Sorry, I ain't feeling too well. Maybe my sleepless night is affecting me right now. See you later." I had decided to play the fool for now, but I warned David to watch his back. Everyone he cared about, everyone close to him, would not escape my vengeance.

I walked past David, opened the door, and closed it with a loud sound that resonated in the classroom.

As I left the classroom, a whirlwind of thoughts swirled in my mind. The encounter with David had stirred up a tempest of emotions, and I needed to find a way to quell the storm within me. My footsteps echoed in the empty hallway.
