Reasons

Seated around a fire were sixteen people, an unconscious giant bird, along with a sleeping flaming bear and seven different reptiles. All of the people there were talking and eating with great joy. Such a sight would intimidate anyone if they came across it, but they all spoke indifferently, as if unaware of what they looked like.

"I never knew you were that strong, Sam. I thought you were just a guy with a face straight out of my nightmares and wings. How did you get those, by the way?"

"The nightmarish face or the wings?"

"I'd like to hear about both."

"They are somewhat related, so sure."

Samuel began to speak about how he got a privilege from the system, how he met Will, his family, and the fight with the Death Knight that ended up with him creating a feather hurricane that wrecked through a part of the city.

"Wait, wait, wait. YOU were the harpy that fought the death knight?"

"That hurricane was man-made?"

"The gods helped you? And you still got cursed?"

"And you got your wings for free?"

Samuel was asked a slew of questions after saying his story, and could only laugh at their shock. He only gave a shrug to all of their questions, meaning that he would let them believe whatever they wanted to believe out of what he said.

"We'll go hunt for a bit. We'll be back before the teleportation happens."

Samuel let them leave before he checked the evolution options for his skills.

[Feather Storm {Common} can evolve into:

Wing Buffet {Uncommon}: Creates controllable wings out of mana to deal wind magic damage to your enemy. +30% magic damage upgrade, chance to deal confusion.

Requires: Feathered wings.

Razor Wind {Uncommon}: Surrounds the enemy with sharp blades made of feathers or scales that they are constantly damaged by. +20% physical and magic damage. Deals physical and wind magic damage.

Requires: Wings.

Wind Vortex {Uncommon}: Creates a storm of smaller wings to attack your opponent in incredible quantities. +10% physical and magic damage. Lasts for five seconds and can be extended by using more mana.

Requires: Feathered Wings.]

Samuel was presented with three options to evolve his skill into, and began to think about which one to pick, coming to a decision before long. The man's fingers extended to press Wind Vortex because it was the most useful one there, being a crowd control skill that required little input from him, but a shout in his head made his hands freeze up.

*STOOOOP! Pick Razor Wind instead.*

"A little nicer next time. And explain your reasoning."

*Wind Vortex needs wings and once you get to level 20, the concentration if dragon blood inside you increases. This is something that happens to every dragon-related class. You gain draconic features like scales, horns, and a tail. Because dragon blood is so strong, there is not a doubt in my mind that your wings will lose their feathers and be replaced with scales.*

"...I'll take your word for it."

Samuel quickly pressed the option for Razor Wind, before checking magic manipulation's evolution options, and was presented with an unbelievable amount of options.

"What do you recommend, you asshole?"

*Shut up and pick Mana Circuit. It's a Rare rank skill, and evolves into Mana Body later.*

"Why not Mana Heart or Mana Core?"

*You wanna lose all your access to mana if they hit your mana heart a little too hard, or do you wanna go the monster's route?*

"Alright, I get it."

[Mana Circuit {Rare}: Engraves your body with magic circuits to enhance your mana circulation, and increase your magic damage.]

Samuel could only watch as tribal tattoos began to appear on his body, giving him an incredible itch as he began to madly scratch his body, but his wings went to comfort mode, so the only way he could relieve himself from the itching was by rolling on the floor.

"Death Knight, you fucker. You didn't tell me about this."

*Too bad.*

Ten minutes later, the itch had finally gone away, and Samuel panted heavily as he stood up. He could only angrily look up at the death knight that was mocking him for his weakness, but he didn't feel like getting up, and laid on the ground instead, confident that his pets would protect him.

As he was drifting off to sleep, a thought popped up into his mind. A very important thought he was surprised that he didn't ask on the first day of the apocalypse.

"Death Knight, why is this apocalypse happening?"

*You- You didn't ask the system on the first day? You're probably the dumbest guy I've ever met.*

"Yeah just answer the question."

*I'll give you the proper answer, and not that shit the system gives for an explanation. Every hundred or so years, the association controlling the system takes over worlds no one wants, that is to say— ones that have little to no resources, ones that have stagnated in their technological or magical development, and ones that would just cause problems if they were assimilated with other worlds, and your world falls into all three categories.*

"Yeah, I guess that's fair."

*It is a miracle how long your world has survived with how long you take to make stuff. However, while the system calls it an act of benevolence, it merely takes pity on that world's residents because of their HR department, and puts the world into an apocalyptic situation, but gives them powers, and the survivors are taken in to be groomed into the needs of the people controlling the system.*

"How are you able to tell me all of this without suffering consequences?"

*If the system does attack me, your vessel would take damage, and they'd rather let you know this than pay the hefty price for interfering with the world even more, especially if it's just one person. The only reason for them to harm you would be listing their crimes, or- no. If I mention /it/ to a recently awakened world like yours, it would wipe all traces of your world's existence.*

Samuel shivered in fear as the death knight mentioned the consequences of saying such a truth would be.

"And how do you know about all of this?"

*I've lived three lives. Don't underestimate my knowledge.*

Samuel wanted to berate him for wanting more and nearly killing him, but he stopped asking questions as he saw the others return, and the system clock tick down, with only five minutes remaining on the clock, Samuel packed up the tamed beasts, bear included, into his pocket space.

The fifteen people silently sat around the fire, waiting for the system's announcement.

[Worldwide announcement: Now initiating teleportation. Please do not move from your location, and do not touch any other being.]

The last thing Samuel would see was a flash of light as all of the people disappeared from their place before he blacked out.

I wanted the things from the teleportation to happen in this chapter but things just spiraled outta control.
