Should I help you with the water?

Chapter two hundred and thirty-four

"Huh?" Xander asked again and Anna didn't even know what he was asking her about.

"Yeah. Right," Anna said, hoping that it answered the question he was asking.

"Are you paying attention, Anna?" Xander asked, and Anna knew right then that she'd given the wrong reply.

"Sure. I mean, I am," Anna bit her lower lip in a bid to lessen the tension building up in her body.

"If you were paying attention, you wouldn't say that, Anna. But, I'll let this slide." Anna craned her neck, hoping that it would stop her from feeling goosebumps because of his hot breath which was fanning her nape.

"That wouldn't work." Xander chuckled.

Wait, did she hear that right? How did he know what she was thinking? Or could he read her mind? Anna's heart raced all the more. She felt like her heart was running a relay race or a marathon. Right, it had to be a marathon, because it hadn't stopped beating fast since she heard his voice a while ago, or maybe since the time she stepped her foot in his office. What was wrong with her today?

"Let's get to business, Anna," Xander said playfully and Anna wondered just when he became somewhat jovial. What happened to Alexander? Or was he just being like this just for today?

Wait. He mentioned something about a business. What business? She hoped that it was work-related, at least that would stop her from having the lewd thoughts she was having. Maybe it wouldn't completely stop her from having them, but the business would at least do a great job of distracting her.

He held her small hand in his large one and placed her on the seat across his seat. Instead of sitting on his rocking chair, he sat at the edge of the table.

Alright. This was definitely not what she was thinking. Whatever this business was, it sure wouldn't be able to distract her from being fully aware of his perfect body because oh, boy, she was seeing his body even closer. Anna had to press her hands between her thighs to hide her nervousness, and maybe it hide the fact that her thighs were becoming clammy.

"So, let's start with what you were doing earlier."

Screw you, Anna. Anna gulped down a fair amount of her saliva, hoping that it would make her parched throat feel less dry but it didn't work.

"Would you like soma water, Anna?" Xander teased, and an unmistakable smirk appeared on his face.

"Water?" She questioned.

"I think so. I think I need water. I didn't have enough water this morning," Anna explained more than necessary and that seemed to amuse Xander who took the phone on his desk.

Anna couldn't believe that he just asked them to bring in a pack of water for her.

She wasn't a camel for crying out loud. All through the time that he was on a call, his gaze never left her face and she felt his eyes burning her skin.

Anna sucked in a breath and her eyes fluttered, she was becoming even more nervous.

"I'll wait for you," Xander said to her and Anna didn't even try to meet his gaze because she knew that she couldn't.

The water came just in time because Anna was sure that her throat was feeling drier than a desert with the way Alexander Williams was looking at her with those sexy eyes of his. It should be a crime for one man to be this breathtaking.

The water was placed on his desk and Anna heard the door behind her close.

Xander took one of the refreshing water and opened the bottle for Anna.

Why was this man being so sweet? It was easier not to react when he was being so cold, but when he was acting like a very

sexy god...he was almost irresistible. Her mother would scream if she finds out that she had been feeling more like a woman since Alexander Williams came into her life.

"Or would you rather I help you with the water?"

What did he mean by that? Xander noticed her questioning gaze and he explained further.

"Would you like to drink right from my mouth?"

"No!" Anna said sharply and Xander grinned at her, showing his beautiful teeth.

Anna immediately snatched the bottle from him and gulped down the water, giving enough water to her desert-like throat.
