Mayu's Melody

Fanfic based on 'Ace Academy' by Pixelfade. An after-story I created for Mayu. Explore post-Ace Academy events with twists. Prior game experience is recommended. This fanfic continues Mayu's route from Ace Academy. Currently developing her ending, with plans for other heroines' stories. New characters will emerge, and my unique take will differentiate it from the original. The story is also much more unique as compared to its original game. As a newcomer, forgive any mistakes.

False Inclusion

Luckily, there wasn't any sign of blood. From what I could see, that bullet had disarmed her. I lost consciousness momentarily, but I managed to catch a glimpse of someone standing beside me. "Save her", these were the words that escaped my mouth, yet my voice was too faint to be heard by her.

Waking up the next morning, I felt the weight of exhaustion bearing down on me, a lingering reminder of the whirlwind of surprises that had unfolded that day. The events from that day had taken a toll on my mental and emotional state, leaving me drained. As I slowly opened my eyes, I couldn't escape the replay of those moments in my mind. It was as if the world had undergone a seismic shift overnight, and I was acutely aware that the challenges we faced were nowhere near their end.

Taking a deep breath, I made a conscious effort to push aside the weariness that clung to me. Checking my phone, it displayed the time: Monday, 7:15 a.m. I was determined to confront whatever the new day had in store, knowing that more trials and tribulations were waiting on the horizon.

After completing my morning routine, I descended the stairs, preparing to face the day's challenges. As I reached the ground floor, my eyes were drawn to Nikki, who had taken residence on the living room sofa, engrossed in something captivating on her phone. A playful thought crossed my mind – the perfect opportunity for a harmless prank. With stealthy grace, I approached her, the element of surprise my ally. In an instant, I unleashed my exuberance, shouting "Gotcha!" with a mischievous grin. Caught off guard, Nikki's reaction was swift, as she concealed her phone, the screen containing her intriguing secret, vanishing beneath the cushions.

Yuki: Nikki, got something juicy on that screen?

Nikki: Nah, just a random article.

Yuki: Huh, then why the quick hide?

Nikki: It's just out of surprise. (,,>﹏<,,)< p>

Yuki: Well, no big deal. If it's what you told me I was reading the other day, it's cool. (。•̀‿ -。)

Nikki: Ah, now I see what you mean. You are getting your payback.

Yuki: So, where's Uncle Kaito, anyway?

Nikki: He's holed up in the garage, tinkering with something. Mentioned you should meet him before heading to the academy.

Yuki: Got it, thanks!

Well, I was heading there anyway as I needed to take my bike. I ate some toast with butter and went there to check what was going on. I Saw Uncle working on his Century.

Yuki: You still think there's something wrong with that?

Kaito: Don't just call it a thing; it means the world to me.

Yuki: So, are we not on your priority list anymore?

Kaito: I was just messing around.

Yuki: Uncle, could you fill me in on what's going on?

Kaito: Have you talked to Kaori yet?

Yuki: She pretty much spilled everything.

Kaito: Well, if that's the case, there's not much more for me to add. Just be careful.

Yuki: By the way, who brought me here last night?

Kaito: It was Kaori. I was a bit surprised that all this happened without me. Alright, I won't keep you any longer. It's time you should head to school.

Uncle returned to what he was doing earlier. I hopped on my motorcycle and set off towards the academy. Along the way, I made a conscious effort to stay fully aware of my surroundings.

The scenery was a stunning blend of colours on that bright morning. The sun cast a warm, golden hue over the landscape, and the leaves on the trees rustled gently in the breeze. Birds sang their cheerful songs in the background, creating a delightful melody. I passed by a charming little park where children swung on swings and families enjoyed picnics.

As I continued my journey, I paid attention to even the smallest details - the scent of freshly bloomed flowers, the hum of my motorcycle's engine as it glided over the road, and the sensation of the wind against my skin. It was as if I was absorbing every aspect of the world around me.

With each twist of the throttle, I not only drew closer to my academy but also became more attuned to the simple yet beautiful moments of that morning.

As I parked my motorcycle skillfully in its designated spot, I couldn't help but feel a rush of adrenaline. Riding always had that effect on me, and it was a small but exhilarating way to start the day. After securing my bike, I decided to head towards the main gate, eager to see what the day held.

Approaching the main gate, I spotted a familiar face, Kaori, standing there. Her expression was a mix of annoyance and curiosity, which was quite typical for her. I knew I was in for a conversation, and it might not be an easy one.

Kaori: Do you always get late for your classes?

Yuki: You know how it is. I kinda woke up late today, and...

Kaori: Keep those excuses to yourself. You do realize we have a match today, right?

Her reminder hit me like a ton of bricks. I had completely forgotten about the match amidst all the chaos of the previous day.

Yuki: Oh, yeah, I know about that.

Kaori: Hmm? Then care to explain.

I could sense her impatience growing. There was no use in trying to dance around it. I decided to come clean.

Yuki: Well, you see, I heard about the match a while ago, but with everything that happened yesterday...

Kaori: Just say that you don't know anything about it.

Yuki: Oh, right. Sorry, Kaori.

Kaori: You're as careless as ever. We're up against 'Team 3012' today.

Yuki: Yeah, I heard some rumours about them. Most of them are transfer students, right? But I do know their team leader. He's been in and out of our classes, although he's not exactly known for his attendance.

Kaori: So, do You have any details about it?

Yuki: For starters his full name is Bradley Cringeington.

Kaori: Okay?

Yuki: Don't you feel anything weird about it?

Kaori awkwardly stared at me for a while. Looks like she doesn't get the joke.

Kaori: No? Is there anything to feel weird about?

Yuki: His name.

It took Kaori a while to realise her name had the word 'Cringe'. She tried holding back her smile and I tried to hide it too. But in the end, we did laugh heartily. Well, it's bad to laugh at someone's name, So I held it back.

Bradley: Excuse me! Is there any joke about me?

As we were laughing a boy popped up beside me. His words did surprise me. Hope he didn't hear what I said.

Bradley: Anything wrong? I heard you saying my name.

Yuki: No it's nothing.

Kaori backed me up there and said...

Kaori: We were just talking about today's match and coincidentally we are up against your team.

Bradley: Ohh! So you must be Hyper X.

Suddenly his face turned into a challenging grin.

Bradley: Good luck to you. Today we will leave you to dust.

Yuki: In your dreams. We ain't losing.

Bradley: Hmm, Well give it your best shot. ( ' ‿ ' )

Yuki: You too.

We shook hands in understanding. Our status changed from being 'Rivals' to 'Friends'. But we are not backing down without a fight. Moments later he vanished from our sight. I turned back to Kaori,

Kaori: You know he is our rival.

Yuki: Only because of the duel. He seems like a cool dude though.

Kaori: (Sighing) Can't stop you from that.

Yuki: Yeah. Besides that. Thanks for saving me last night.

A slight blush appeared on her cheeks.

Kaori: I am not as easygoing as you think.

Yuki: Hmm? I was just trying to thank you for what you did.

Kaori: Ohh! Umm, That wasn't anything much.

Yuki: Trust me, you played a part, even if unintentionally. But about yesterday...

Before I could say more, the familiar sound of the bell rang out, signalling the start of classes.

Yuki: Saved by the bell, I guess. We'll catch up later, okay?

Kaori: Don't think you're off the hook, Yuki. We're going to have that conversation.

We exchanged knowing glances, and with that, we headed in the direction of our respective classes. As I walked, I couldn't help but wonder how Kaori had managed to save me. It was a puzzle I intended to solve, and I had a feeling Kaori held the missing pieces.

I entered the classroom normally and the rest wasn't anything surprising except the fact both girls were nowhere to be seen. I know about Mahiru but it makes me wonder how is Sakura involved in this.

Time flew by like a blur for the rest of the classes. Before I knew it was 10 a.m.

Yuki: OK, so what should I do? The rest of the classes are cancelled due to the match, and the match is at 1 p.m.

At that moment, my phone blinked with a notification popping up. Checking the messages, it was from Yuuna. She said to meet her at the cafe near our campus.

Yuki: Well, there's nothing else to do. I might as well go meet her.

Before heading out, I thought for a moment about Mayu. I haven't seen her since yesterday. Has she gotten any info about what happened yesterday? Is she worried about me? And what a coincidence, I received a call from her. What luck!

Yuki: (Answering the call) Whats up, Mayu!

Mayu: Yukiii..

Yuki: Your voice is a bit off. What happened?

Mayu: Meet me downstairs, I will explain.

I felt a sense of unease as Mayu's tone changed, but he decided to trust her and gather more information. Packing his belongings, he headed downstairs. I saw Mayu exiting her classroom and noticed the urgency in her demeanour. She grabbed My hands and pulled me outside the building.

Yuki: Wait, where are you taking me?

Moments later, we found ourselves inside an abandoned storage room at the back of their campus buildings. I was surprised that I never knew such a place existed, even after a year at the Academy. Mayu locked the door behind me before approaching me.

Yuki: Um, Mayu?

Mayu: Yes?

Her eyes seemed darker, and I couldn't help but wonder if her possessiveness had intensified over the past year of their relationship.

Yuki: Why are we in this secluded place?

Mayu: Beats me.

Yuki: You don't know?

As expected, I was pushed down by her, with Mayu hovering above me. We landed on a cushion. The situation was beginning to take a suggestive turn.

How can things be so perfect? Just like an anime moment. First, I thought of Future Diary, Now Kaguya sama- Love is war, too?

Btw for those who don't know Future Diary is a show where the female lead is a Yandere and Kaguya Sama is a romcom but there was a similar moment that happened in that show.

Yuki: You okay? I have to be somewhere. Why don't you...

Mayu: Just stop. Stop blabbering nonsense.

As far as I can see her eyes had a determined look. I don't think taking it causally will help. Calming her down might be better. But what is she talking about?

Yuki: Huh? What do you mean?

Mayu: Why are you always like this? You know how worried I was yesterday. I even sent you like a hundred messages, and you didn't even read them. Kaori, too, kept avoiding my questions.

I feel like I know what made her like this. I hope distracting her might help. Let's play it off.

Yuki: Listen, Mayu. The thing is... my internet was a bit off yesterday, and I haven't used my phone much today, so...

Tears began to fill Mayu's eyes. I messed up big time.

Mayu: Do you even understand my feelings? How I felt. Every time you act this recklessly, It worries me that something might have happened to you.

Yuki: I'm sorry, Mayu. I don't how i ca...

Mayu: That's what I hate the most about you. You think a simple apology can solve everything. Maybe it's better if...

I was stunned. I realized I had been an idiot for not caring enough about her feelings and making the same mistakes repeatedly. But instead of understanding the situation my heart took the initiative instead of my mind.

Yuki: "If?" If what? I didn't want to put you in any kind of trouble, which is why I left without saying a word yesterday. And as for Kaori, I specifically instructed her to look out for you and the others. And Kaori avoided the questions to make sure you won't worry about things any further. Why do you doubt that I understand your feelings? I've been grappling with this since the beginning, weighing whether or not to involve you. But you see, you didn't heed my advice and ended up getting embroiled in this mess. Now, your safety is my utmost priority. Just imagine if that day, you were the victim instead of me. The mere thought of losing you is unbearable. I don't care what happens to me, but I cannot bear the idea of you coming to harm. And still, you claim I don't grasp the situation. I... I'll just leave it at that.

Her face remained blank. Without a word, she got up, and I could see the hurt in her eyes. I pushed myself to his feet, realizing I had said some hurtful things.

Yuki: Mayu, I...

Mayu: You've already said enough.

Yuki: Just listen to me.

She attempted to walk away, but I couldn't let her go. Grabbing her hands...

Mayu: (In an angry tone) Please, let me go!

Yuki: Do you think I'd leave you alone at this moment?

Without hesitation, I held her in his arms, desperate to mend the emotional rift that had formed between us.

Mayu: What are you doing?

Yuki: (With a serious tone) I'm not letting you go until we talk this out.

Mayu struggled for a moment, but my grip was firm. Tears continued to well up in her eyes as her frustration and anger began to subside, giving away a sense of vulnerability.

Mayu: (In a softer, more vulnerable voice) Yuki, you just... you scare me sometimes. I love you so much, and the thought of losing you, of something happening to you... it terrifies me. And why do you think that I will have a reason to live if you aren't here?

Yuki: (Gently) I know, Mayu. I'm sorry for making you worry like that. I promise to be more careful and considerate of your feelings. But just don't say that, We still have yet to know what lies there in our future. And I can't guarantee that I will be there every time by your side. But for the time being, I will do my best to make it that way. You have to be strong now.

Mayu's tears started to flow, but they were no longer tears of anger. Wiping them away gently with his thumb....

Yuki: (Softly) Mayu, I love you too. You mean everything to me. I don't want to hurt you or make you feel neglected. Let's work through this together. Although there might be a few times you need to trust me, would you mind coping with that?

Mayu nodded, her anger dissipating as she realized my sincerity. Holding each other close, the tension between us gradually fading away. It was a moment of understanding and reaffirmation of our love for each other, a reminder that even in the toughest times, We could find a way to make things right.

So I guess everything should be settled by now. But why do I feel like I am forgetting something? Oh, Yuuna. My heart skipped a beat as Valerie's voice pierced the intimate moment.

Valerie: Aren't you guys enjoying yourselves a bit much? Even here too?

Startled and caught off guard, We quickly untangled ourselves from each other. Mayu's face was flushed with embarrassment, mirroring my reddened cheeks. We both turned to find Valerie peeking through the window, an amused smirk on her face. Yea, How could I have known there were like five windows surrounding us?

Yuki: How are you so good at spying? Uhh, Let me rephrase that – how long have you been here?

Valerie raised an eyebrow and chuckled softly.

Valerie: I wasn't spying, lovebirds. I just happened to be passing by and heard some voices in here. I thought it might be some kind of secret meeting or something. Turns out, I stumbled upon your little hideaway.

Mayu rolled her eyes playfully, her embarrassment slowly giving way to amusement.

Mayu: Valerie, you have the worst timing.

Valerie shrugged, her smirk still firmly in place.

Valerie: Or maybe the best timing, depending on how you look at it. Anyway, carry on with your heart-to-heart talk. I'll just pretend I didn't see anything.

With that, Valerie turned and began to leave, but just as she was about to get a move on, she paused and called out to us.

Valerie: Actually, speaking of secret meetings and all, there's something I need to discuss with you guys. So could you guys open the door so we can have a chat?

We exchanged curious glances before opening the door.

Yuki: Alright, spill it. What's on your mind?

Valerie stepped back into the room, her expression turning serious.

Valerie: You remember that duel against Team 3012 that's coming up, right?

Mayu nodded, her thoughts shifting from their own relationship to the impending competition.

Mayu: Of course. It's a big deal, and we've been training hard for it.

Valerie: Well, there's a bit more to it than meets the eye. I overheard some of the members of Team 3012 talking, and it seems they've got a secret strategy that they think will guarantee their victory. Even though being a new team I never expected them to have one.

I frowned, concern etching my features.

Yuki: A secret strategy? That doesn't sound good. Do you know what it is?

Valerie shook her head.

Valerie: No, they were speaking in hushed tones, and I couldn't make out all the details. But it's clear they're up to something, and we need to be prepared.

Mayu's determination shone through her eyes.

Mayu: We can't let them catch us off guard. Let's gather our team and strategize. Valerie, thanks for the heads-up.

Valerie nodded, relieved that they were taking the threat seriously.

Valerie: You're welcome. We'll need to be at the top of our game to beat them. I'll do some more snooping and see if I can find out any more details. But I don't know if I will have any time to do that.

The playful banter between us had lightened the mood, but now I had to shift my focus to the upcoming duel. As I was about to continue the conversation, my phone rang, reminding me of another matter at hand.

Yuki: Hi Yuuna. I'm sorry. I have been held up in a small situation, so I wasn't able to arrive on time.

Yuuna: It's fine, I actually wanted to talk to you.

Yuki: I'm heading there now.

Yuuna: I left that place a few minutes ago. Why don't you come to the pilot's lounge?

Yuki: Okay, I'm on my way. Is it okay if Mayu and Valerie tag along?

Yuuna: Yeah, I don't mind. Besides, I don't think Mayu would be happy if you went on without her. She's been pretty disturbed since last night.

Yuki: She has told me about it. But there are some questions I want to ask you.

Yuuna: We can talk once you get here.

Yuki: Roger that.

With the call ended, Yuki rejoined Mayu and Valerie, who were waiting with curious expressions.

Mayu: Everything okay?

Yuki: Yeah, Yuuna just wants to talk about something. She suggested we meet at the pilot's lounge.

Valerie: Pilot's lounge? Fancy.

Yuki: Well it's nothing extraordinary. Shall we go?

Mayu nodded, her earlier pouty expression replaced with anticipation. We made our way to the pilot's lounge, where we would hopefully find answers to the questions and concerns looming over our upcoming duel.

At the Pilot's Lounge,

In the pilot lounge, we settled at a table tucked into the corner. All of the team members were present, including Valerie and Yuuna. Shou took the seat beside me, his behaviour noticeably subdued today compared to his usual lively self. It was a curiosity that would have to wait for another time, as Yuuna broke the silence, and a natural conversation ensued, with Valerie, Mayu, and Shou joining in.

My thoughts briefly wandered to the recent changes within the team. Mayu, once again her vibrant self, reassured me that things were taking a turn for the better. I couldn't help but acknowledge that I might have caused her some sadness over the past few weeks. It nagged at me, the sense that there might have been an alternative way to handle those situations, but dwelling on it now wouldn't change the past.

Turning my attention to Valerie, I noted how little I truly knew about her. She seemed to conceal her true self beneath a calm and sweet facade. There was more to her than met the eye, and I resolved to take the time to get to know her better.

Kaori, now that she is my partner in a mystery, remained a source of intrigue. There were still a few stuff to unravel, and details to uncover, and I intended to pester her with questions later on. Her knowledge of various matters could prove invaluable.

My gaze shifted to Yuuna, and I couldn't help but wonder about the events of that fateful night. Why was she the one drawn into these incidents? It weighed on my mind, along with the lingering sorrow she carried for her brother's loss. It was a pain she didn't let show often, but I sensed a deep, hidden wound within her.

These were the thoughts that occupied my mind at that moment. Beyond them lay a shroud of mysteries yet to be unveiled, but for now, I knew I should focus on the present. Vigilance was still necessary, but I couldn't help but feel that our future held the promise of brighter days.

With that determination, I set my sights on the discussions ahead, resolved to strengthen our team and uncover the truths that eluded us. It was time to make things better.

Kaori: Do you have time to zone out?

Yuki: Oh sorry! I was just lost in thoughts.

Kaori: I hope whatever you are thinking might help us.

Yuki: I don't think so.

Kaori: (In an angry tone) Then focus now. Okay, everyone! Do any of you know anything about them? How they fight, or positions. Any intel will help us get an uphand.

Yuki: I think I can help but were there any recordings of their previous match?

Shou: Yea, That will give us all the information we need.

Kaori: I know it would be quite helpful but sadly we aren't allowed to see them.

Mayu: Why though?

Kaori: "Metalor" doesn't seem to agree with this. As he says this would be unfair for the teams if one knew. Adding to it he says the duel would be much more interesting without much or any intel on the opponent team.

Yuki: So we have to come up with a plan that won't backfire. By the way, what's a Metalor? Seems like a fantasy name.

Kaori: He is the organiser of these duels from this year onwards. To be honest I don't know why he named himself 'Metalor'.

Valerie: Yuki's gear already has some potential which will be helpful in the grounds.

Yuki: Yeah, I can pretty much take 2-3 of them all alone.

Mayu: Overconfidence can be a bit of a danger.

Yuki: But I am still alive right?

I winked at her.

Mayu: That doesn't make it sound better.

Kaori: Yeah just control yourself for now. We lost the first match cuz you took the lead without giving us any info.

Yuki: That was the previous me. I am different now.

Kaori: Nevermind. So here is the plan.....

Yuuna had to leave midway through our conversation as she got an important phone call. I followed along with every word Kaori said, focusing on the three crucial things I needed to keep in mind before activating Overdrive 2.0 mode.

First, if one of our team members is out of the match, I must not activate Overdrive 2.0 mode. Teamwork is vital, and without a complete team, our strategy could fall apart.

Second, if our initial Plan A fails, that's the moment to consider using Overdrive mode. It's like a backup plan we can rely on.

Third, I should only activate Overdrive mode when I spot a perfect opportunity to strike. Until then, I should stick to our plan.

Kaori also emphasized that I should avoid using Overdrive X mode at all costs. We're uncertain about its capabilities, but it's like a hidden trump card we need to save for a critical situation. It might grant incredible powers or unleash devastating attacks, but I must exercise patience and restraint until the time is right.

As I absorbed these guidelines, I realized that my journey to harness the capabilities of Overdrive 2.0 was fraught with complexity and nuance. Each rule was a safeguard to ensure I used my newfound power wisely, and the enigmatic Overdrive X mode was a mysterious, yet potent, tool that demanded careful consideration.

The path ahead remained uncertain, but with these rules in mind, I was prepared to tread it with care and wisdom, ready to unleash the full potential of my abilities when the moment was just right.

Kaori: So, everyone got what I said?

Yuki: One question though. What will we do if Plan B also fails?

Kaori: Then you can do whatever you like.

Yuki: Really, but...

Kaori: I know you already know our movements and how we play. So you can just act accordingly. Just before you take the lead, tell us the info and how we can be of support.

Yuki: Don't worry. I won't be reckless this time. Anyway, I already have a plan in mind. And for sure, this will be just as awesome. Just one doubt that it may or may not work.

Kaori: Well, if both the plans fail, we won't have any choice except to go along with that.

Shou: No time to waste! Let's get moving, everyone!

Yuki: Energetic as ever.

Once again, he switched forms suddenly.

Valarie: I will be cheering from afar. Don't disappoint me. ( ,,ˆᗜˆ,, )

Mayu: We won't. Let's win this.

We spent the rest of the time talking about various stuff, and the moment had arrived. It was the first duel of the year with my new and upgraded Eagle.

At the hangar, we changed into our uniforms and gathered in the Tactical Chamber. That's what we call it these days. Valerie had already left to secure the best view.

Kaori: Let's get this over with.

We team huddled and went into our respective Gears.

(Btw team huddling means a cheering gesture where everyone puts their hands together, one on top of the other, and then raises them collectively. It's a way for a group of individuals to come together in unity, show support, and build excitement before an event, game, or competition. This gesture often accompanies motivational chants or cheers to boost team spirit and focus.) Well, enough about it let's get to the awesome part.

In the Arena,

We took our positions as planned. Mayu distanced herself from the team and took a better site to support us with her sniper. Shou lingered around her for any signs of attack that might caught her off guard. Kaori was ready to take charge and so was I, just behind her. Now we wait for the opponent team to enter the arena. In the meantime, Announcer took the attention of the Audience.

Anyway, let's focus on the match.

Kaori: You ready?

Yuki: As Always.

As the match began Kaori rushed at the enemy team and I followed her. And just as we planned it was all good till now. But a small problem. Instead of two, three of the opponents rushed off to where Mayu and Shou were. The leader came towards Kaori

Yuki: This doesn't look good.

Kaori: Yuki. Go now!

Kaori motioned me to help them so without hesitating I set off to help them.

From Shou's perspective,

Our plan is falling apart already? I have never taken three gears all alone. Back then....

At the Pilot's lounge...

Kaori: You sure Shou? Will you be able to handle two of them?

Shou: Yeah, Besides Mayu is there to support me so it will be a piece of cake.

Yuki: I can help in any case it gets worse.

Kaori: That's great but stick to plan. Don't use Overdrive 2.0 unless it's needed.

Yuki: I already know about that.

Mayu: Will you be okay Kaori? Handling the leader alone?

Kaori: I can, I will. I won't let my feelings get the better of me.

Yuki: (winking at her) I know about that. That day was awesome I mean the first time I got to se... Ouu!

Kaori punched me in the arm as I was saying that. It reminded me not to get on her bad side.

Kaori: Any more words and you won't be able to see the sun tomorrow.

Yuki: OK fine, Chill!

Kaori: Want another piece?

Yuki: No mam I clearly understood.

Kaori: Good. Now, Shou here is the plan. Hold them off till Yuki gets to help. And Mayu help you in defeating them. As for Yuki, you come with me to eliminate the leader.

Yuki: What if their plans changed though?

Shou: Yea if there are three of them rushing to us?

Yuki: Then the plan will be the same though. I will rush out to help. But that isn't the point I am telling if there are any more possibilities. I have a few.

Kaori gave me a blank stare. Giving out a sigh she said...

Kaori: You already know what to do right, Shou. Don't ask any pointless questions. And we already have a Plan B. But I don't think we will be needing the Overdrive 2.0.

Mayu: Why not be ready in advance?

Kaori: We are though?

Mayu gave Kaori a questioning look...

Mayu: We?

She looked at Yuki. And he nodded in understanding.

Yuki: Yea I was asking about that.

Kaori: Great, Let's get to it then.

Yuki, Shou & Mayu: Yea!

Back to now..

Shou: (I can't back down now. My team trusts me, and I'll give it my all to keep up.) Here goes nothing!

Using both of my pistols, I positioned myself to fire and pulled the trigger. The shot missed, and I fired three more rounds, two of which hit one of the gears, significantly lowering its health.

Shou: (Determined) They are fast.

Mayu: (Confident) I might be able to get one. Keep them distracted.

Shou: (Focused) On it.

I advanced toward them, leaving Mayu to handle her own. The gears were just a few meters apart. Moments later, I realized that Mayu had taken out one of the enemy gears.

Mayu: (Triumphant) There!

Shou: (Praising) Nice shot!

Now, it was my time to shine. I aimed at the gear with critically low health and took it out of the match with a well-placed shot. Okay, just one more enemy left.

Bam!

Shou: (Surprised) Huh!

One of the gears took me by surprise, and I was down.

Yuki: (Concerned) Shou!

Shou: (Resolute) I'm sorry. Take it from here without me.

Perspective changed.

Yuki: (Now that one of the requirements is fulfilled, I can finally use it.) I'm doing it.

I was about to press the button when I heard Kaori's voice. She was in a tough spot, locking both of her swords to protect herself, barely holding on.

Kaori: (Urgent) Don't. We can still win without it.

Alright then, I'll do this my way. I hoped my fists could hold on. Without wasting a moment, I rushed toward the remaining gear, which was moving toward Mayu. She fired another shot, bringing it down to critical health, but it didn't slow down and ended up defeating Mayu.

Yuki: (Frustrated) Damn it! I was too slow...

Mayu: (Encouraging) We can still win this. Take him down.

Yuki: (Determined) I know it.

The enemy gear was already at its lowest health, thanks to Mayu. In one swift hit, it was out of the match. Now, all that was left was to defeat their leader. I used every ounce of energy, moving as fast as I could toward them. But there was something I didn't know about their team.

Bradley: (Defiant) Ahoy! We ain't backing down until all of my strength is gone.

With that declaration, he used his gear's full potential to push Kaori's gear with such force that it flew toward me. I managed to catch her, but her gear's health was critically low. She struggled to get her gear back on its feet.

Kaori: (Huffing) Thanks. But we need to defeat him. I am low so you take the charge.

Yuki: Should I use...

Kaori: It won't be needed. We can outnumber him.

Bradley: Why not add some spice to this pasta then?

Yuki: There isn't any pasta in this match. It's not a kitchen.

Bradley: It's a ****ing phrase. I meant to add some difficulty for you.

Yuki: Oh then say it clearly. And don't use bad words it will be difficult for the writer to describe it. He says this novel is for all ages but it doesn't seem like it. And for the nice part, you even removed like 3-4 fanservice parts. Why not let me enjoy them?

Bradley: The heck do you mean by the writer?

Author: Enough with the talks. You guys are really annoying. I will seriously bleep every word of yours if you keep on arguing. And also don't be clear and upfront and stop with the usage of bad words. I can't keep on censoring them. It's ANNOYING. And for the fanservice part, Yeah I did remove most or almost all of them cuz it isn't some Ero novel.

Yuki: That's what I told him. Why not at least add a little? You even removed them from the beach part.

Author: Don't even start now. Just finish it. Havent you experienced it once last time you came to beach?

Yuki: Fine. I get it

Bradley: As I was saying...

Yuki: You aren't saying anything just use the damn Nanite Grenades.

Bradley: Stop stealing my spotlight you will regret it. Now I can't even explain the features of these Grenades.

Yuki: Let me help you. These grenades disperse nanobots upon detonation, which can be used as soldiers in defeating the opponent. And...

Bradley: Again. Never mind I will just perish you.

Back to being serious..

He threw the grenades and in no time there were small robots surrounding us. There were around five of them had single-handed Katanas.

Yuki: Kaori, we aren't getting out of this now.

Kaori: You are right but we need to find a way.

Yuki: How about using...

Kaori: Other than that.

Why isn't Kaori letting me use that mode? We already would have won this match from the start if she hadn't stopped me. Anyway if we keep waiting longer this will be bad.

Bradley: Why not add a cherry on the cake?

Yuki: Be direct, dude. Why bring the Kitchen again? It would be better if you had worked with Rorden Gamsey.

Bradley: Those are just phrases. Never mind that I will just do this now.

Moments later all of the robots were rushing towards us. This is impossible without my Overdrive 2.0. Before I could think of anything they all attacked us. I managed to get out of their range but Kaori wasn't. Before leaving the arena she said "Don't use it. You can use whatever you like but don't take that path. It will be much more helpful later."

Bradley: Look at you now. Pathetic. You were making fun of me a little while back but the tables have turned.

Yuki: Dude like I said..

Bradley: Just get him...

I need to think fast. I did come upon an idea but implementing it needed precision. But how will I be able to get out of this?

Shou: You can do this Broseph!

Mayu: We believe in you.

Kaori: This will be much harder than you anticipated but you have to find a way. If there aren't any...

Will I ever be able to...listen...to...Myself? Do whatever lies deep inside my heart? Without any Restriction? What did Kaori say at the last...

Kaori: Create one!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀  ⠀!!To Be Continued!!

I did take a long leave but I had my reasons. I will try to upload the chapters continuously if possible. Rest will be told by the time. Here is a bonus. Just one thing before you guys read the bonus. It is purely made by myself so it won't be related to the story whatsoever. Here I added Mark as his childhood friend but there is no such character in the Visual novel or this Fanfic.

Bonus:-

Yuki: I sat by my bedroom window, my gaze fixed on the raindrops trickling down the glass. The sound of rain always brought a mix of emotions, and today it was stirring up memories of my childhood.

Yuki: (Softly to myself) Those days... when life was simpler.

A heavyweight sat in my chest, a constant reminder that my parents had passed away just a year ago. Their absence left a void that nothing could fill. My parents had been my guiding stars, the ones who had nurtured my dreams and watched me grow into the person I had become.

I heard a knock on the door, and my childhood friend, Mark, entered the room. He had been with me through the toughest times, providing a shoulder to lean on when I needed it most.

Mark: (Concerned) Yuki, you okay?

Yuki: (Sighs) Yeah, just thinking about the past, Mark.

Mark took a seat beside me, offering a supportive presence.

Mark: I know it's tough, Yuki. Your parents meant the world to you.

Yuki: They did. I miss them every day. I miss the way they used to make everything feel alright, no matter how tough things got.

The rain outside continued to fall, matching the sadness in my heart. My parents had been my source of strength, the ones who had taught me the value of resilience and love.

Mark: Your parents left you with some incredible memories, Yuki. They've shaped who you are today.

Yuki: (Reflective) You're right, Mark. I'll always treasure the moments we spent together, like those summer days when we used to go camping as a family. The smell of the campfire, the taste of roasted marshmallows... It felt like we were invincible.

Mark: (Smiles) I remember you telling me about those trips. They sound amazing.

Yuki: (Grateful) They were. Today, I'm just feeling a bit nostalgic, I guess.

Mark: (Supportive) That's okay, Yuki. It's natural to remember and honour the people we love. Your parents would be proud of the person you've become.

I looked at Mark, his understanding eyes offering solace in the midst of my grief.

Yuki: (Touched) Thanks, Mark. I'm lucky to have you as a friend.

Mark: (Squeezes his shoulder) Always, Yuki. We'll create new memories together and keep your parents' spirit alive.

The room was filled with a comforting silence, punctuated only by the rhythmic pattern of raindrops against the window. In that moment, I understood that even during loss, life had a way of carrying us forward, and the bonds we formed with loved ones could transcend time and space.

Yuki: Mark, do you remember the time when Mom and Dad surprised us with that road trip?

Mark: (Chuckling) Of course, I do! It was one of the best days of my life.

Yuki: (While smiling) We were just kids, and they woke us up at the crack of dawn. "Get in the car, kids, we're going on an adventure!" they said.

Mark: And we had no idea where we were going. But it didn't matter. We were with your parents, and that was all that counted.

Yuki: Exactly. We ended up at that hidden lake in the mountains. We swam, fished, and laughed until our stomachs hurt.

Mark: (Grinning) And your dad tried to make a campfire but ended up burning the marshmallows.

Yuki: (Laughing) Yeah, they tasted like charcoal! But it was one of those moments when everything felt perfect.

We shared stories of our childhood adventures, and for a while, it felt as though my parents were right there with us, reliving those cherished memories.

Nikki: (Entering the room) Hey, guys, what are you laughing about in here?

Yuki: (Surprised) Nikki, you're back!

Mark: (Smiles) Hey, Nikki. We were just reminiscing about that crazy road trip your parents took us on.

Nikki: (Nostalgic) Ah, the good old days. Mom and Dad sure knew how to make every moment special.

Mark: (Standing up) Well, I should be heading home now. Yuki, and Nikki, take care of each other, alright?

Yuki: (Grateful) Thanks, Mark. You're a great friend.

Nikki: (Appreciative) Yes, thanks for being there for Yuki.

As Mark left, Nikki took his place beside me, and together, we continued to share stories of our parents and the impact they had on our lives.

Nikki: (Reflective) You know, Yuki, even though Mom and Dad aren't here anymore, they've left us with something priceless—the love of family.

Yuki: (Agrees) You're right, Nikki. They taught us the importance of being there for each other, no matter what.

Nikki: (Smiles) So, what do you say we honour their memory by creating new memories together?

Yuki: (Determined) I think that's exactly what they would want us to do.

As the rain continued to subside outside, I felt a renewed sense of purpose. With Nikki by my side, we would carry forward the legacy of our parents and continue to create meaningful moments, knowing that their love would always be with us.
