1974, Kingdom of Khon

It is 1974, Kingdom of Khon. A soldier in green military fatigues wakes up, his head throbbing in pain. He touches his head, wincing at the pain of some cut. Though dazed, he attempts to stand up and look at his surroundings.

All around him were rays of light piercing through dozens, no maybe hundreds, of holes. He puts his hand down to lift himself up only to feel a wet, warm, sticky puddle of something. Readjusting his eyes, he stares at the dark red and black pool of blood before stumbling backwards in a knee-jerk reaction.

Laid across the metal transport carrier that he was in were bodies of other soldiers. Still in shock, he sat and gathered his thoughts. Memories flooded in his mind. He was on a troop transport traversing a road through the jungles. Alarms blared as he and his fellow soldiers scrambled to exit. The final thing he remembered was the booming sound of gunfire and being knocked down in the chaos.

Standing back up he called out

"Is there anyone alive?"

Hearing no response, he looked over the soldiers, checking if anyone was still alive. He flips through the bodies, turning over some just to see fatal wounds. A desperation arises in him as he continues through the bodies until his devastation at the realization that he was alone.

His single person sulk is disturbed by the shaking of the ground, causing him to stumble. His confusion turns to panic as he hears the yelling of Su Com voices. Scrambling to the hide behind the ruined walls of the vehicle, he peered through the holes. A few hundred feet from him were almost a hundred Red Khon and Su Com infantrymen. They were looking for survivors, survivors like him.

He frantically looked around for a weapon. Strapped to the shoulder of one of the dead soldiers was a M16A1 rifle. He quickly took it off of him and readied himself. Within moments he could hear footsteps closing in on him.

He steady his rifle at a large hole in the wall caused by what seemed to be an explosion and waited. He could feel and hear his heartbeat pounding, echoing in his ear with every single beat. The footsteps stop right outside the wall. He stiffens, holding his breath.

A hand reaches inside, grabbing onto the wall and pulling whoever who was on the outside forward. The soldier flinches, but doesn't shoot yet. He's afraid. Death hasn't claimed him yet but it will probably now. The Red Khon insurgent enters, his own rifle searching for survivors. Upon eye contact between the two the soldier fires, striking first and landing true. The insurgent falls without firing a shot.

Relief runs over him for a lone moment as an uproar ensues. Gunfire explodes through the already bullet filled walls. The soldier stumbles over the dead bodies as he attempts to enter the vehicle's cockpit. The gunfire follows him as new holes pop behind him. Closing in on the cockpit, which is behind a metal hatch, he trips. The uneven platform of the vehicle being the chief cause.

Falling over, he attempts to regain his composure. He realizes the shots have stopped. Embracing himself for more combat, he was entirely caught off guard when the ground shook again. Crashing into the wall, he looks outside again.

A standard MAWS (Mobile Adaptive Walker System) bearing the symbol of the Su Com turned and looked at him. The pressure from eight meter tall mech armor seized him with fear, even as the armor walked up to his location, shaking the ground with every step.

With a swipe of its mighty blade, the troop transport's metal roof split open. The soldier was knocked down from the impact. He looked up to the clear skies above, unable to do anything as it closed in and casted its shadow over him. With one last ground shake, the behemoth machine stepped up and looked at it with its red lens. The MAWS brought up its other arm, a twin barrel cannon hand replacement, and pointed it at the soldier. Tears ran down the soldier's face. This for sure was the end.

He closed his eyes, hoping to not feel a thing. With a thunderous boom, the soldier flinched. His eyes were still closed. Did it miss? No way. He slowly opened his eyes, winching the whole way.

Much to his surprise, there was a massive hole in the MAWS's chest, or rather the cockpit. He watched as it slowly started falling down. Coming back to his senses from accepting death, he moved out of the way of the crumbling titan. He was unfortunately unsuccessful and was thrown out of the transport.

Getting out of the dirt he was set upon by a charging Su Com soldier. His gun no longer with him, he backed away as fast as he could on his ass. Just as the Su Com's bayonet closed in on him, the Su Com soldier was struck multiple times by gunfire. He dropped before the green soldier. All around him in the jungle erupted more gunfire. Before him the Red Khon and Su Com are caught like lambs. Some return fire while others flee, but many fall.

Two more Su Com MAWS appear and begin opening fire at the jungle only to have one of them caught from behind by a smaller MAWS. Unlike the Su Com ones, this one had no symbols. It climbed on board the Su Com MAWS and stabbed it through the chest before using it as a shield against the second Su Com MAWS. The second MAWS fired its multi-barreled KPV heavy machine gun at the fallen Su Com MAWS and the unmarked MAWS but after a few shots, found it pointless.

Witnessing a losing battle, the infantry and the other two MAWS going down, the lone Su Com MAWS began to flee. As it fled, rockets and small arms chased after it. The bullets proved to be largely ineffective and the rockets were too slow to hit until an unmarked MAWS showed itself from the jungle. Carrying a large rifle looking similar to a M1 Garand, it aimed carefully at the running Su Com MAWS before firing once.

The single shot pierced right through the armor of the MAWS and into the upper leg. This caused it to stumble and fall. It immediately tried to get up, but was caught by the rockets. There its fate was sealed.

The green soldier was astonished. From the forest came men dressed in green fatigues like his, but many others in black clothing indicative of the Mong. They began sweeping the area much like the Red Khon did before. Some others waved to him. Standing back up the green soldier waved back. He was saved.
