The Anonymous Messenger

I woke up with a banging head. I winced in pain as I stood up from the bed.

"Ouch!" Why do I feel so sure all over? I opened my eyes gradually, only to find myself in my room and on my bed.

Wait a moment, how on earth did I get to my bed? What could have happened to me last night?

Just then, I recalled what actually happened to me.

I got a drink, but pretended not to be, and then I got myself into the restroom to ease myself and then... I trailed off when I recalled the seductive voice in my head.

Suddenly, I burned underneath. Fuck! What's happening to me? What is this feeling all about?

There's no way such a thing happened last night. I quickly hopped down from my bed and headed to Greg's.

"Hey, man, you're awake!" Greg said, dabbing his hair dry with a towel.

"Uhm, Greg, did I…uhm."

"You mean, did you get drunk last night?" My heart skipped at Greg's question.

"Did I really get drunk?" I asked, just to be sure.

"Man, if I had known you couldn't hold your alcohol tolerance, I wouldn't have let you drink that much."

It can't be. I thought it was all a dream.

"Where did you find me?" I asked again.

"Guess where?"

"I can't guess."

"In the passage leading to the restroom. You were messed up, and passed out. If I hadn't noticed how differently you walked when you went to the restroom, I'm sure you would have been there for hours."

My knees suddenly went numb at what Greg had just said. If he truly found me in the restroom, could it be that those people I saw in the restroom were also real?

"One more question, did you see anyone around me when you found me?"

"Nope! It was just you lying on the floor passed out."

Now I'm confused. Maybe that was my wet dream. It must be.

"What's with all the questions, though?"

"Uhm, nothing. I don't remember anything from when I got to the restroom."

"Oh I see, you must have been terribly drunk," Greg said with a hearty chuckle.

I felt so embarrassed. Good thing I didn't make a mess of myself, and thank goodness I didn't throw up to make Greg take off my clothes. I'm sure my secrets will have been long exposed by now.

"Come on, have done tea. It's Saturday. Even though things didn't go as planned, I'm sure you'll still be able to work something out."

I walked to the dining hall, where Greg served me coffee.

"Thank you, Greg," I said sincerely.

"For what?" Greg asked with a confused-looking expression.

"For being there for me when I needed you. Thank you for being a good friend to me. I'm truly grateful."

"You don't have to thank me for that. That's what I should do, buddy. I know you would do the same for me if you were to find me in such a state. Remember the day we were able to pull through our first mission?"

I chuckled lightly.

"Of course, how can I forget? That's one of the most memorable days ever since we started journalism."

"I know right. Ever since that day you rescued me from getting myself killed when I had a head in with the mafia leader, I knew you were the man."

I smiled, knowing Greg truly treated me sincerely. Not everyone is lucky at making friends. With Greg, I didn't just find a friend, but a brother who was ready to have my back at any time.

Though I still have a secret which I'm keeping away from him. Not that I can't tell him about it, I just don't know how to explain it, and most of all, I have no idea what his reaction might be if he ever finds out those things about me. I'm sure he wouldn't be happy. That was for sure.

After having breakfast that morning, I decided to make some little findings on my own that could help me with getting anything I could about Drake.

Just then, my thoughts wandered off to the wet dream I had earlier.

Drake was the only one who made me feel that way. I wonder who those guys were that made me lose my cool in my dreams. This was the first time I've had such a dream. Apart from Drake, who was my first crush, I've never seen any guy as appealing as Drake.

I felt like he was everything I ever wanted from my man. However, I had to wake up to the harsh reality. And that was the fact that I could never have Drake.

He's way above my league, and I'm also sure he's not into men, most especially into men like me who have complicated problems.

My reason for not dating anyone has always been how conscious I am of what I was. The fear of being heartbroken because I was seen as someone who wasn't fit to be anyone's partner.

Just as I was engrossed in thinking about the negative side of falling for Drake, I suddenly heard a message top up on the screen of my laptop.

I felt too tired to go through some messages, and so I decided to go to bed for now. But just as I took a quick glance at the computer screen, my eyes darted to the name written between the message, "Drake."

I quickly clicked on the message, which was sent to me by someone unknown.

"Drake is having a birthday party tomorrow. If you really want to meet him, I think tomorrow will be your best chance to do so."

I blinked speechlessly. I still could not believe the information I just got was real.

Firstly, I don't know who the sender was, and I haven't even started with my investigations yet. Who could that be? And why is he telling me about Drake?

I tried contacting the number, but couldn't get him. So, I just wrote a thank-you message to whoever he was. I'm sure he would see the message.

I smiled, knowing that I would be attending Drake's birthday party. Whoever sent me that message must be an angel from above. Though, I don't know how possible it will be for me to get an exclusive interview with him.

I guess I'll have to see how things go tomorrow.
