Chapter 2

The next day, I woke up early but my body still needed rest so I forced myself to stand up from my bed. I walked to the bathroom and took my shower, got read and added some light makeup before stepping out of my room. I went to Jassy's room to check on her, but she was still asleep. I didn't want to bother her, so I walked out of her room.

I went to the kitchen to make breakfast for myself. After the breakfast I rushed out with my purse a d phone inside. I flagged a taxi in front of my house and it took me straight to my work place.

Gladly when I got there, my boss was not yet at work, but I think she will soon be. Some workers were already in the shop doing some Things and attending to people that needed one thing or the other.

I greeted some of them before moving to my position. I waited for those people who were shopping to come and pay for what they bought, because I was working at the payment section.

Few minutes later the door bell rang, signifying that someone just walked in. when I turned around I saw it was Mrs Kate. I immediately stood up to greet her when she was not to far away from me.

" Good morning ma'am, you're welcome" I said followed by the other workers close to me. She only noded her head in response before looking around as if she was looking for someone or something with her eyes. But the next thing she said shocked me.

" Mira come to my office right now " she said looking at me with a frown. Gosh, this week is a bad week, she have been tackling me since we started work the week. Well maybe it's only this week because I've been working here for two years now, but we had no problem. She doesn't seem happy with me.

I immediately followed her to the office so could hear what she had to say. God I hope it wouldn't hurt or be a bad news I prayed. Once we were in, she motioned with her hand for me to seat down on the chair opposite her's.

She sat down, dropped her hand bag on the table before looking at me with hands clapped together. The air felt so awkward in the room, so much that I felt so uncomfortable. After few seconds of looking at me, she cleared her throat before saying." Have to tell you this, I hope you understand. First I want to thank you for working here for me for 2 years, I really appreciate that." She took a breath before saying the next word.

" I'm so sorry but I have to say, You are fired."She said with difficulty I could see it in her eyes that she was firing me for something, but I couldn't pin point It.

"Gasp, why what have I done wrong?" I asked in a shaky voice. I couldn't hold back my tears, do I let it drop and roll on my cheeks. " Please if I have offended you in anyway, please just forgive me. I can't lose this job ma'am please " I cried out and immediately dropped on my knees. But looking at things, she was not going to listen to my plea but do whatever she wanted.

" Miss Mira please stand up now, it was the order from the manager and the owner of the store. So please accept it this way. I also got the order this morning as I was on my way, so it isn't my fault " She explained. " Well I asked if you did something to any of them, but they didn't give me an answer. So I think they just wanted the cashier to be sacked"

With tears I rose from the floor and sat on the chair" Please can you beg them again, please for my sake, Can you please tell them not to ?" I said between sobs. I was really hurt, but that didn't matter at all now, all I wanted was this job. I had plans and all of the revenue for my plans would come from this job of mine. But what Mrs Kate was telling me now is that I can't work here anymore. So painful.

"You don't need to cry because it won't solve the problem now, all you need to do is work till this evening and then I will pay you the salary for this month. Sigh, I don't think you would be welcomed here from tomorrow as a worker." She said.

I realized that even if I cried from now till forever she would never listen. So I got up from my seat and wiped my tears.

" Ok ma'am, I think I should leave now to continue my duty for today." I bowed a little before leaving the office. Sigh, what I'm I supposed to do now?, this is such a hurtful way of losing a job when you did nothing wrong.

I went to my position at the cashier, but I saw someone else sitting on my chair. For a second, I thought it was the new cashier, but when I realized who it was, I breath a sigh of relief. It was just Jordyn.

I walked towards my seat, my mind was still in a mess I couldn't work well so I actually left him to do the job. I sat at the chair close to him with a gloomy face. I didn't even notice that they were alot of customers in line waiting for him. Jordyn nudged my arm and then spoke in a whisper.

" Hey what's up with your gloomy face. What did boss day to you? He asked, but his eyes were fixed on the money in his hand.

I was immediately snapped out of my reverie and forced to talk." Sigh, nothing much, just a little discussion. I don't want to talk about it, I hope you don't mind " I said in a low voice. I tried all my best to keep my tears in, but I think it was too hard. So I excused myself and went to the bathroom to pour out all my feelings.

When I entered the bathroom, I cried out my lungs, but I tried to keep my voice low. Few minutes later, I told myself it was alright, washed my face, dried my face with my handkerchief then walked out of the bathroom.
