Short Chapter!
Over the past few years, Diana and I had traveled to more than a few different parts of the world. And during our travels it happened. For the first time, Diana showed prowess of a demigod.
" Daddy!" Diana screamed from outside our tent.
We had returned to Greece and were currently camping out by a river.
I rose from my slumber and burst out of the tent with my Trident already in my hand. I didn't see any enemy, no. What I did see was Diana, floating in the air kicking and screaming.
" Daddy help me!" Diana screamed.
I couldn't believe it. It had wandered into my mind on a few occasions. I didn't know if she would have the same powers that I did. If she would have the life I did. This puts it to rest though.
I smiled and gently raised myself up to her level.
" Easy there snowflake. Calm yourself. It's okay." I told the girl. I placed my hand softly on her head. I then I moved and helped her to straighten herself up.
" Daddy, what's happening?" Diana asked.
" Diana, you're a 1/4th god. Meaning you were destined to have powers." I told the girl.
" Just like yours?" She asked.
" Just like mine." I replied. " Control your breathing, Diana. Make the water move to your will. That's all you need to do sweetheart. Don't let your fear control you."
" But I'm scared."
" Diana, you're a big girl now. There's nothing wrong with being afraid, but you don't let fear control you. You don't let it guide your judgements. You have to be strong baby girl. Just focus on me. Focus on my voice and do as i say. Okay?"
" Yes, Daddy."
Diana nodded and I wiped away the budding tears behind her eyes.
" Now, close your eyes and breathe. Slow deep breaths. Easy." I told the girl.
Diana closed her eyes and slowly started taking deep breaths, just as I instructed her too.
" Feel your connection to the water. Feel it coursing through your body. Let it breathe, don't struggle to hold it back, but let it flow freely. And openly. This is your power, princess. This is your gift. Not your curse. Think about what it is you want it to do." I explained to her.
Slowly but surely the water around us began to lower until we were back on the riverbank.
" Diana, open your eyes." I told the girl.
She nodded and slowly her eyes fluttered open.
" What happened? Did you bring us back" She asked.
" You did it. All I did was help you relax." I told the girl. I smiled and patted her on the head. She had done good. She wasn't a warrior or anything Like I was. And yet she was able to get a grasp of her abilities rather quickly. Or at least a good enough grasp to be able to save herself from trouble.
" So, what does this mean?" She asked.
I could tell she was both frightened and intrigued by her newfound power.
" Well, that all depend on you. What do you want to do now? Everything we are, everything we do, everything we become. Everything starts and ends with ourselves. We are who we choose to be." I told the girl.
" I... I want to be like you. Strong and free." Diana spoke.
Her conviction had always been strong, but she lacked the power to measure up to it.
" Then in a few days we will return to Olympus. And we will begin your training. Your real training. And I must warn you, Diana. That it will be far more grueling and much more intense than anything you have ever experienced."
" Yes, Daddy."
" But for now..." I spoke. i looked up and saw that the sun was rising and that meant only one thing right now. " For now, my dear princess of the sea. Happy Birthday!" I walked back into the tent and brought Diana her very own Trident. It was decorated from end to end with jewels from the sea. It was blue just like mine and had her name etched into the frame.
Diana's eyes lit up in excitement and she jumped up in excitement. The waves behind her rose with each passing moment and I couldn't help but laugh.
