Marvel: Mortal Ascension

Edward Bell was a smart young man, smart enough to get a job at Oscorp Ind. However, as he arrives in the big city of New York, Edward will discover there is much more to the world than he thought, and somehow the world can't stop sending troubles his way... ------ While I did put only Marvel into the title, it is actually a Marvel/DC fanfic. Why did I do this? Because most Marvel/DC stories until now sucked, and no one really wants to make the effort of reading new ones, so I only put the more popular one into the title. ------ For advanced chapters: https://www.patreon.com/SlyOW The link above is for those who want to support me. I don't expect much from it, it is but a fanfic, but earning an income from it would still be cool. Cohosted on Webnovel/Fanfiction.net

-------------

The terrain had been ruined by the fight Edward led, creating his golems had already taken huge chunks from the ground, and while they fought the golems would take huge chunks of rocks from the ground and throw them at the demons.

There was also Edward's spell that forced small mountains to trap the fire demons in, which he been ravaged by the fire demons who used their claws to drill through it, and the golems threw a few rocks at them trying to kill the fleeing demons.

Now that Perrikus had fled, their fight was over. Thor and Diana approached Edward, and the God of Thunder was grinning, proud of this battle. Meanwhile, Diana asked while pointing at the severed arm, "What are you going to do with this?"

Edward pocketed the severed arm into his Spatial Bracelet and replied, "I sealed a good part Perrikus' power in this arm, and made it impossible for his arm to regrow. Now, even I would be able to kill him on my own rather quickly. That makes one less enemy."

He then patted the Spacial Bracelet he put the arm in, where it sat next to the Pokeballs, and continued, "As for the arm, I keep it for a project of mine, no need to worry."

"Why do I feel like I should then?"

Edward grinned at her question, but did not answer. She rolled her eyes, and together the three left through the air.

Quickly, they arrived back in the camp, and directly headed for the center of command. There, Tyr was still giving commands, not to his brothers this time though but to Asgardian Troop Leaders.

He was clearly surprised to see them come back, but it turned back into a frown as he asked, "What are you doing here? Already had enough fun?"

Thor grinned, and decided to rub it in his brother's face as he said, "We happened upon Perrikus' army, and destroyed them. Perrikus lost his arm too, and won't be a threat anymore. He only fled thanks to Adva."

Tyr didn't look like he believed them, and sent a glance at Hermod, who was sitting in a corner. The younger god, who was the youngest Odinson, sighed and disappeared from the spot with astonishing speed.

Less than ten seconds later, he appeared back into the room, with such speed even Edward barely felt him enter his Chi Sense a fraction of a second before he appeared in front of them again.

Hermod nodded at his brother, who raised an eyebrow and took another look at Diana and Edward before saying, "You three managed to destroy his army…"

He looked back at the map of Muspelheim spread on the table, and continued, "That was reckless, but effective. That will make this war easier than it should have been…"

Tyr went on to explain their strategies, and for the next few days, Edward and Diana helped the Asgardians in their battles.

This war had been going on for a few weeks already, but with the arrival of several of the strongest gods in Asgard, as well as Edward and Diana, it made the fights much simpler.

In under a week, nearly all of the Dark Gods were killed, even Loki had killed one. The Dark gods were the generals of the armies of the Fire Demons, and now only three were left.

Perrikus had fled Muspelheim with Adva, their Goddess of Portals, and were nowhere to be found. As for the last one alive, it was Majeston Zelia, the strongest in their pantheon, and the one in charge of unsealing Surtur.

A long time ago, Zelia and her Dark Gods had managed to bring Asgard to it's knees and had even defeated Odin, but that was with the help of particularly powerful weapons, as well as the secret help from a certain space god, a Celestial.

Odin still had managed to drive them back in the end though, and destroyed or hid all of their weapons, so even though Zelia was said to be Odin's equal, if they were to really fight the old king of today would be able to easily kill the Zelia of today.

That's why she was seeking to free Surtur and Ymir. With their help, she hoped to destroy Asgard, to avenge her defeat from several thousands years ago.

However, things didn't go accordingly. Her mole in Asgard, Loki, turned out to be a double agent, and warned Asgard of her plans right as they started. With this, Asgard brought their army to wage war onto Muspelheim.

So Zelia called for her own pantheon, and had them lead the armies of Fire Demons.

Unfortunately, the other Dark Gods, including her son, turned out to be huge disappointments as they were defeated too fast for her to free Surtur.

And the worst thing was that she did not get those news from any of her subordinates, but from those brats of Asgard.

While she was busy breaking Surtur's seal, she cut herself off from the outside world, and had no idea of what was happening. She was forced out of her trance when she felt people intrude into her cave, and saw her enemies.

She saw six intruders. Five of them were the spawns of Odin, she could feel his blood flowing through them, and it enraged her. Countless years ago, when she brought Asgard to it's knees, she had tried to make Odin her consort, but he dared to refuse her.

And now, several thousands years later, his bastard children dared to face her, Majeston Zelia!

But perhaps even more annoying was the presence of the Greek, and the human. She never bothered the Greek, so they had quite the cheek to send one of their own to chase her. But for that human from Midgard to dare to come to her, he must be wishing for a quick death.

That human, Edward, felt quite impressed by Majeston Zelia. She was tall, like more than 15 meters tall, and like all the Dark Gods looked humanoid. However, half of her body looked like it was made from darkness itself, it was quite eerie to look at.

Thor, Loki, Tyr, Balder, Edward and Diana faced the giant goddess without a trace of fear on their face. Loki was actually quite cocky as he slightly bowed toward Zelia and said, "Your majesty, I have brought you Odin's children, as you wished."

Zelia exploded with power as she yelled in a deep voice, "Traitor!"

A large ball of dark flames was thrown toward Loki, but his figured turned out to be nothing more than an illusion. Zelia cried out in rage as she saw she missed, and looked ready to throw another fireball at the others, but Mjollnir came smashing toward her face.

No matter how strong she was, Mjollnir was unstoppable, and she was knocked off her feet by the magical hammer.

Mjollnir then returned to Thor as a burst of lightning was sent toward Zelia. But the goddess was experienced, and with a thought a magical shield appeared before her to stop the lightning. At the same time, she stopped in mid air, and looked at the seven intruders with hatred.

Spreading out her arms, a strange dark substance surrounded them from all directions, and ate everything it touched.

But before it could get any closer to them, a strong light burst out of Balder, driving the darkness away, and corroding the dark shield of Zelia.

At the same time, a set of javelins made of dark rocks hit the magical shield, and exploded upon impact. Those were thrown by Edward, and they were similar to the ones he made in Rivendell, except those new ones were stronger.

The magical shield, which had been eroded by Balder's light, was completely shattered by the several explosions, and Tyr jumped toward the Dark Goddess.

Despite using a single hand, he swung his great sword with great might toward Zelia.

The Dark Goddess' legs turned into a long and large snake tail, which she swung toward Tyr, but as it smashed into him, his body split in two. On the right was Tyr, but on the left was Diana.

The two reached Zelia's sides, and slashed their sword at her. Using both of her arms, she blocked the blows, but the moment she did so Thor appeared from below and smashed his hammer into her chin.

While she was stunned by the blow, Edward arrived at her waist and drove Aeglos into her gut. Her skin was tough, but Aeglos, with chi infused into it, cut through her waist and came out on the other end.

Zelia cried out in pain at the injury, and her voice itself would be strong enough to kill any normal human, but those facing her all wielded the power of gods. Even Edward, while he wasn't as strong as Thor or Diana, was as strong as a lesser God.

Still, Zelia proved to be a step above them as she was still alive, and about to counter attack. But before she could, Balder pierced his sword through Zelia's snake tail, pinning her to the ground, and Loki arrived on top of her face, twin daggers in hand.

With a slash of each dagger, Loki sliced through Zelia's eyes.

The Dark Goddess wailed in agony as she lost her sight, and she seemed to turn berserk as she twisted upon herself. As she forced herself to move, all of her wounds became bigger, but she was free to move once again.

With another cry, the dark fire from earlier covered her entire body to form a piece of armour. Her wounds were forcefully closed, and the process looked very painful, but after a few seconds nearly all of her wounds were closed, and she even had a strong looking armor now. The only injury that did not heal was her eyes.

Loki's daggers were coated in a strong poison that corroded her eyes, and they had been eaten away by the poison before they could be healed.

In a tongue so dark and ancient none of the six present could understand it, Zelia yelled something before slithering her way toward them.

As the physically strongest among them, Thor rushed toward the Dark Goddess, Mjollnir leading the way.

Despite having lost her sight, Zelia still seemed to know he was attacking as she raised her left hand, and a pike rose from the ground, threatening to impale Thor.

This was quite the impressive feat as Thor travelled at several times the speed of sound when he flew with Mjollnir, yet she managed to aim so perfectly.

Forced to deviate from his initial trajectory, Thor lost some speed and accuracy in his flight, and Zelia used the opportunity to smash her tail into Thor.

Not only was the God of Lightning sent flying into a wall of the rocky cave, dark fire stuck to him and burned his skin. Thor tried getting it off, but the dark fire couldn't be extinguished.

Tyr roared mightily and jumped toward her, while Edward rushed to Thor's side and was relieved to find out he could absorb those flames too.

But he had barely absorbed the flames on Thor that Tyr came crashing next to them, on fire too. Promptly putting out the fire on him too, Edward sent a look at the Dark Goddess.

Time for round 2.
