Nobility Title of India

SARPANCH - Rules over one village only.

NAYAK - Rules over 10 villages.

SAMANTH - Rules over 100 villages and a town.

RAJA - Rules over at least 1000 villages and few town.

MAHARAJA - Rules over more than 10000 villages, more than 50 towns and a city.

SAMRAT - Rules over 100000s of villages, 1000s of towns and more than 10 cities. The land is almost the size of a medium to large european country.

CHAKRAVARTIN SAMRAT - One who rules over all of BHARATA. OR 700000 villages, 10000 towns, and more than 100 cities.

Author's Note

This just my explanation why not every king just named himself Samrat or Chakravarti Samrat. I don't know if it is true or not.
