Fanny nodded in understanding. It doesn't really matter if Tony couldn't get it. If it comes to it, he could make some sort of a deal with Nick Fury.
"Remember not to touch that thing with your body. It's very dangerous," Fanny reminded him again that the 'obelisk' was a deadly weapon for Earth humans.
Tony wrote down some notes and summarized what Fanny had said.
"In short, I have to get in contact with SHIELD and get my father's keepsakes from them, so I could piece the clues together and create the new element?"
"Actually, you don't need to go through all those hassles!" Fanny jogged through his memories and continued, "The data for the new element seems to be hidden in a building mock-up. Did your father design some famous building?"
"The 1974 Stark Industry Expo!" Tony blurted out. He had been thinking of holding another expo to leave a tangible legacy in the world.
"Yes, that is it," Fanny nodded and continued, "In any case, the data is hidden in that mock-up. You could filter out the elements and make sense of its structure."
"Are you sure?" Tony asked, doubtful. He recalled that the mock-up was stored somewhere in the company building. How can it have research data on a new element?!
"You should try it!" Fanny replied in irritation.
Well, if it was that easy, it would've been discovered a long time ago. It was impossibly difficult to "build" a new element according to a "blueprint," after all.
Tony opened his mouth but didn't say anything. The mock-up was in the company building, so he could take it back and study it at any time.
"Anyway, go study the mock-up as soon as possible and make a new armor!" Fanny urged. He had almost lost all hope of learning astral magic. It might even be faster to reach the fifth skill extraction.
The Iron Monger incident and his continuous training in the past few months had accrued him a lot of experience points. With a little more experience points, he could still hope to draw the fifth skill before Abomination appeared.
Tony had zero ideas why Fanny wanted him to make a new armor so badly, but he didn't say anything. He would've continued the research with or without Fanny's motivation.
Fanny felt like he was forgetting something when he was leaving Tony's studio, but it was not until he watched the TV the next day that he remembered. The news channel was running a special report on whether the appearance of Iron Man would spark an arms race, which reminded Fanny of the old man with electric whips.
Fanny thought about it but ultimately didn't tell Tony. He wasn't Tony's nanny; he didn't have to help with every little thing. Telling him about the new element was already too much intervention.
Tony already had an edge compared to his situation in the original plot. If he couldn't deal with the threats in time, he won't be long for this world anyway.
...
"Fanny, are you really not going with us?"
Several girls looked at Fanny with disappointment. They had wanted to invite Fanny to a romantic trip party during the oncoming weeklong holiday—although to whom the "romantic" modifier would apply was yet to be determined.
"Sorry, I had a trip with my family
," Fanny smiled apologetically and gave a clear answer, though if not for Skye's situation, he would've been tempted to go with them.
Skye had been on edge ever since Fanny told her about her biological parents. He decided to take her on a trip so she could relax a little.
After bidding farewell to the teenage girls, Fanny returned home. Skye was hugging her knees on the sofa while watching TV, but her empty eyes and the fact that she didn't realize that her lingerie was displayed for the world to see indicated that her mind was elsewhere.
She only reacted once Fanny had walked over and sat beside her, "You're back!"
"Pack up your things. Let's go on a vacation tomorrow!"
Skye was utterly dumbfounded by his announcement. "Why so sudden? Are you going to see your parents?"
"No, we're not seeing them." Fanny shook his head. Despite what he said about improving Skye's mood, he also had another objective. He continued, "It's just a relaxing vacation."
Skye immediately understood that Fanny was actually worried about her, and she couldn't help but feel a little touched. "I'm fine, Fanny. You don't have to worry about me."
"Alright, alright, shush. We'll set out early tomorrow, so prepare our passport!" Fanny waved his hand, silencing Skye's protest. He then returned to his room and took out the world map as well as a compass.
He focused on the city where Skye would awaken her ability while watching the compass and then drew a preliminary route on the map.
"I hope I can find it!" Fanny prayed while putting away the compass. He actually just wanted to reduce the scope of the possible locations. There was enough time, so it was fine if he didn't find it immediately.
Skye grumbled sleepily early the next morning while packing up her luggage and following Fanny to the airport. It was a vacation, so he couldn't just open a portal. There's no soul in that kind of travel.
Well, the real reason was because he couldn't open an accurate portal to a place he's never been to.
The two cleared the registration and checks; only then did Skye look at the plane ticket in Fanny's hand. "Fanny, why are we going to Spain?"
Fanny decided not to tell Skye about the place where she would awaken her ability. He answered casually just to stop her questions, "I picked a random place. You haven't been there, right?"
Skye didn't question him; her mood had already recovered just from the thought of the trip.
The plane ride was very smooth. There was no problem like bad weather or hijacking, and they landed safely.
Skye looked around, excited at the new city and experience.
They checked in at a hotel and spent the next two days happily touring the country. Stark Industry's stocks had soared since Tony announced himself as Iron Man, so they had accrued quite the savings.
The joy from the travel had eased Skye's burden, and she could finally smile again.
Fanny sighed in relief when he saw her smile. That was the main objective of this trip, so it didn't matter if he couldn't find the place he was looking for.
Fanny then used the compass again to determine their next destination.
The Caribbean Sea.
Fanny was lying lazily on a sun chair atop a medium-small yacht.
He didn't know if there would be pirates like Captain Jack Sparrow, but if there were, he probably wouldn't want to meet them.
"Fanny, look, look, I caught it!" Beside him, Skye was holding a fishing rod in one hand and a big fish in the other, shouting happily at Fanny.
"Amazing, amazing!" Fanny responded lazily. He did not even raise his head. She just caught another fish in the sea. It wasn't a shark or anything, so there wasn't any need to be excited.
Skye was clearly irritated by Fanny's attitude. She put away the fish and fishing rod, storming toward Fanny. "This is the first time I caught such a big fish."
Fanny finally looked at the fish in Skye's hand. It was around thirty centimeters long, so it was indeed not small. It had some red scales, but Fanny couldn't identify what kind of fish that was.
"Not bad, not bad. Dinner is settled." Fanny smiled as he got up and stretched. This kind of comfortable life was indeed easy to get addicted to. It had only been two days, but he already did not want to leave.
