Five miles south of the universe.

' Damn it, why did we answer that call for help? Should have just left the damn thing alone. But no, we had to go and take Havok's advice and help them. Now, we're stuck on a damn hunk of metal about to be sucked up by its own sun, and I can't find Rachel!!!'

Atom thought to himself as he maneuvered through the ruins of the city, he was in.

" I'm about ten seconds from saying screw the pleasantries and just blowing these bastards to bits."

Atom growled as he rubbed his bandaged leg.

" Wait I hear fighting below. Might as well see if I can find any useful information."

Atom said to himself, he raised his fist and smashed a hole through the ground

" What the bloody devil?"

One of the shi'ar asked as a hole was suddenly blown in the roof.

" Not the devil, but in your case, I might be much worse."

Atom said to the men and women.

Atom observed the men and women below him, two Shi'ar, one six-armed creature, one bald, one earth woman with brown hair and streaks of white upfront, however what stood out the most was her outfit a green and white suit with X's on her chest and arms.

" Judging from your costume I'd have to guess you're an X-man?"

Atom asked the woman.

" Ah am, who are you?"

Rogue asked the man.

" Captain Atom, leader of the starjammers. Glad to see some kind of help on this damn planet."

Atom said to the woman as he touched down in front of her.

" I remember seeing your face in one of Hepzibah's picture. Nice ta meet ya."

Rogue said to the man.

" Hepzibah! So, she's safe. That's a relief then. Look I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, but what are you doing here?"

Atom asked the woman.

" I came here to get Rachel, and the others back home. But apparently these guys don't wanna wake her up."

Rogue gestured behind her to the unconscious telepath.

" RACHEL!"

Atom yelled the girls name and flew past rogue.

He turned to the woman's captors and glared at them, his nuclear energy radiating off of him in droves. He drove his hand through the machine imprisoning the woman and shattered it.

" Ugh!"

Rachel groaned as she got to her feet.

" Careful, easy. You've been out for at least a week now."

Atom explained to the woman.

Rogue watched the two carefully, intrigued by the man's care for the young woman.

However, Horse the six-armed creature wasn't done attacking and tried to attack rogue from behind. Rachel seeing the attack used her telepathic powers and crippled Horse before he could attack.

" If any of you want to experience firsthand what I just did to Horse, then by all means please reach for your weapons."

Rachel said to the pirates.

" I need another champion."

Sovel complained.

" Sorry, fearless former leader. The king is dead long live the queen."

Jat said to the man.

" Should have picked me the first time sovel, I don't do do reaguard duty."

The woman said to Sovel.

" All right, I'm glad to have you back Rach, but what the hell is going on? The last thing I remember before being blasted out of the sky is landing right in the middle of a civil war."

Atom turned to Rachel and asked.

" Yeah, what are you doing in this lunatic asylum?"

Rogue asked as well.

" We answered a distress call and walked right into a civil war."

Rachel said to the woman.

" Yes, I remember that much."

Atom stated.

" Yes, but it's much worse than that, Nathan. A lot worse. As in there's something out there that packs a mind punch strong enough to knock me out for a week. We've got to find the others. They don't know the odds they're facing or even who the real enemy is."

Rachel explained to the group.

" Jesus, all right come on ladies let's go get our people back and get the hell off of this damn cuckoo's nest."

Atom said to the two ladies.

The group nodded and followed the man out of the hole they were in.

As they were running the nearby ships started firing on the walls keeping them inside.

" Dear god those idiots. Rachel hold up the walls, if they break almost everyone on this damn... Whatever we're on is going to die! Ugh!"

Atom was explaining to the woman when he was suddenly hit in the back by Alex.

' What the fuck is going on right now?'

Atom asked in severe confusion.

He got to his feet and gestured for the others to stop the Shi'ar ships firing on the walls and then turned back to Alex.

" Okay, Alex. I'm going to need you to calm down."

Atom said to the man.

" Surrender yourself to the nest and I will calm down. Don't and I'll kill you."

Alex said to the man.

" Kill me? Alex, you are sadly mistaken about how this is going to go down."

Atom raised his hands and started emitting his signature energy. He then shot a beam of energy from his hands and to his surprise Alex absorbed it.

" Oh, right I forgot you can absorb certain types of energy."

Atom stated his blunder a loud.

Alex smiled at the man and returned fire only for his beam to be absorbed as well.

" Damn, bad matchup huh buddy?"

Atom said to the man.

" Nathan!"

Rachel called out to the man in a panic.

Nathan turned to see Rachel being attacked by one of the creatures that lived on this rock.

" Rachel what is it?"

Atom asked the woman as he punched Alex away from him.

" This guy is the one tricking everyone we have to take him out!"

Rachel yelled to the man

Atom nodded and slapped his hands together, sending a beam of energy towards the six armed monster. The blast evaporated the man and freed those trapped in his influence just as Lorna was going to run Nathan through with a spike.

" Damn, Lorna. Going for the kill so quickly?"

Atom asked the woman

" Nathan? What the hell is going on?"

Lorna asked.

" You want the truth?"

Nathan asked the woman.

Lorna looked at him in confusion and nodded.

" I honestly have no fucking idea."

Nathan said to the woman.

" Come on, let's go join the others. I think this is over. But I'm not too sure."

Nathan explained to the woman.

Once Atom and Lorna were back with the others he and Rachel embraced each other once again. Too the surprise of Gambit and Magneto, Atom and Rachel kissed each other.

" Wow! Wow! Wow! Slow down, who dis?"

Gambit asked.

" Well, this is my boyfriend, Nathaniel Adams aka Captain Atom. He's a mutant and current leader of the Starjammers."

Rachel said to the man giving him a quick rundown on his history.

" Yeah, that's all good nice to meet you all and all. But can someone explain to me what the hell is going on? I mean I have never been so lost in all of my life."

Atom explained to the others his severe confusion.

" Don't worry about it babe, I'll explain it all later."

Rachel explained to the man as she kissed him on his cheek.

" Ah'll explain as best Ah can."

Rogue spoke up.

The group all turned and looked at rogue for answers.

" Ah'm really happy to see you all again. This is the moment Ah've been working towards. Getting us all together in one place. Only trouble is it's about ten minutes too late."

Rogue explained.

' Okay is it me or did that not explain a thing.'

Atom thought to himself.

" What do you mean, Chere? We leave the same way we came, right?"

Gambit asked the woman.

" Sorry, Remy. Ah took some memories on board, Alien memories. It wasn't easy. Ah had to let go of legions teleportation powers to make room for them."

Rogue explained.

" Oh, great so we're all trapped on a ship heading straight for a sun, well it was nice knowing all of you."

Atom said sarcastically.

Rachel then elbowed him in the side.

" Look, there are a billion lives on this station. It's as big as a planet and it's falling into a sun. Pulled by its own generators after they got damaged in the fighting."

Rogue continued explaining.

" So, let me guess this scientist you touched, his memories can help you fix them?"

Atom asked.

" Yes, if Ah can get to those generators Ah can reconfigure them. Stop this from happening. Trouble is they're about ten thousand miles from here, right at the top of the station. And we've got about an hour before we hit the sun's corona and our shields fail."

Rogue explained.

" Ten thousand miles. Shouldn't be a problem."

Atom said to the woman.

He walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her waist.

" Hold on tight, Chere. You're riding the Atom express now."

Atom said to the woman.

He grit his teeth and took off from the platform they were on

" There's a wall above us!"

Rogue yelled to the man.

" No there isn't."

Atom raised one of his hands and began blasting holes through the ship's walls destroying each one as they ascended the levels.

" Alright we're here. Do what you need to do and fast. The sun's approaching quicker every second."

Atom yelled to the woman.

He stood in front of the window and stuck his hands out and started absorbing energy from the sun to keep the pressure off everyone else.

" Ugh! You better hurry!"

Atom yelled to the woman.

" I'm moving as fast as I can!"

Rogue yelled back.

" Sorry to do this to ya rogue I get the whole saving everyone thing and I appreciate it but."

Sovel said as he appeared behind the woman.

He then blasted rogue from the gravity controls and began punching something into the console.

" Damn it! Ugh!"

Atom grunted. He tried to separate his connection with the sun but was pulled back by the strong flow of energy.

" I'm guessing you can't really move from that spot right now. Again, sorry but I gotta look out for number one first and foremost."

Sovel said to the man.

" When I get free, I'm gonna tear your spine out."

Atom said to the man.

" You won't need to."

Glitter said to the man.

" That's the thing about these short range teleports shunts, Sovel. They go both ways!"

Glitter yelled at the man as she and the rest of the X-men and Starjammers teleported into the room with a comatose Rachel.

" What happened to Rachel?!"

Atom asked in a rage.

" She sensed another telepath and went to fight him. But she's been in a coma ever since she left her body."

Korvus explained to the man.

" Damn it! Someone help her!"

Atom yelled as he continued absorbing energy.

" Step aside, let me through."

Magneto said to Korvus.

" What are you doing?"

Atom asked.

" My helmet is resistant to telepathic scanning. If we're lucky it will break the contact between the two of them."

Magneto explained as he placed his helmet on Rachel's head.

" I'm alright, Love. Just need a moment to shake off the pain."

Rachel said to the man as she got to her feet.

" Glad to hear it. but whatever you guys are going to do. You need to do it quick, I've never had to absorb this much energy before and I can't cut the connection or else you'll all be fried in a second."

Atom explained.

" So, don't! Jat get on the other controls!"

Rogue yelled to the man.

" The hull is too big, the station won't last."

Jat explained.

Rogue and Rachel began working on something but atom was too distracted by the sheer power of the sun to hear it.

" Girls, whatever you're doing. HURRY!"

Atom yelled as cracks started appearing on his arms.

" Few more seconds. Magnus, turn the null cascade so it fires into the sun."

Rogue shouted.

" Anti-mater and solar fusion, rogue that's."

Magneto was saying.

" Suicide for just about anyone else. Do it I'll try to keep the colliding energies from tearing us apart!"

Atom yelled.

Magneto nodded and turned the cannon towards the sun and fired it.

" Anyone feels inclined to pray... Now would be a good time."

Rogue said to the group as the station hit the sun.

Atom yelled and began pouring out all the energy he absorbed directly into the sun's core and absorbed it back in seconds to keep the energy from the sun and the cannon from ripping everything apart.

The station went through the core of the sun and a breach opened up sucking them inside. Once they were through the breach the station popped up on the other side of the galaxy.

" Wait! Bluey-Green planet, with an atmosphere? More water than land? Isn't that?"

Rogue was asking.

" It's earth!"

Havok exclaimed.

" You did it, Rogue! You did it!"

Rachel exclaimed in happiness.

" Heh! Couldn't have done it without... Atom?"

Rogue called out the man's name as she turned towards him.

The entire ship went up into screams of horror as they looked at the man's charred body.

" Nathan!"

Rachel yelled out the man's name as she ran up to grab him.

However, as she touched his arm it began to crack.

" AH!"

Nathan exclaimed as he exploded the metal around him.

He stood in the middle of the room panting and gasping for air.

" I don't know what the hell's going on anymore. Just get me off this damned ship."

Atom joked.

The others in the room began laughing at the man as he collapsed to the floor.

" Don't worry, love. We're home."

Rachel said to the man as their ship entered earth's atmosphere finally ending this long and ridiculous journey.

' Jesus, Christ that shit shows over. i mean I don't even know what the hell was going on half the time.'

Atom thought to himself as he rested In Rachel's arms.
