It all started at that moment. She was drunk when she kissed the town's ruthless CEO and ended up in bed with him. Cassie was unaware that her life was changing at the moment. She's engaged, but she slept with another man, got pregnant, and ran away. Nevertheless, certain circumstances are beyond her control; what if her predetermined fate persists in tormenting her? *** “I'm sorry, Morgan. I didn't mean to do this, but it seems like this is the only way to ease your pain..." Cassie forced herself to look straight into his eyes, then she slowly nodded. "It's not your fault, I'm the stubborn one...you didn't do anything but save me...I need you,” she said in between her breath. She didn't realize that her tears were falling. "Shh, you know I will always be here for you; I can't leave you..." He bent down his head to kiss her neck. His lips were hot, but it felt so good on her burning flesh.

That Side Of Him

Cassie doesn't know what to feel at this moment. She told him to set the alarm, but she ended up waking him up. She almost wanted to push the pillow into his face until he couldn't breathe, but she stopped herself. Instead, she smashed the pillow toward his face, making him growl in anger.

She arched her brow when he threw a glare. "Didn't I tell you to set the—"

"Can't you fucking be gentle? Are you really a woman?"

She smirked. "No, I am not," she replied sarcastically. "Better get out within five minutes, Mr. Smith. Or else I will shift my attention to other things," she said before leaving his room.

She climbed the stairs and strolled toward the kitchen for a cup of coffee. The maids are already awake and starting their duties.

One old lady greeted her and asked what she wanted, but she just responded kindly and prepared her coffee.

She brewed a flavor on the machine and waited to fill her cup. She leaned on the edge of the center aisle as she looked outside the small window. Lights are still on, and the sun can't be seen yet.

The coffee machine made a sound, making her grab her cup. She smiled when she touched the side of the cup, which made her feel its hotness. She was about to blow and sip into it when she saw Theo near the arc.

"Ready?" she asked as she walked closer to him.

"Can't I have my coffee too before the walking?"

She shook her head. "Eating will be after walking," she replied. "Let's go," she added, bringing her coffee out of the kitchen.

She passed by his side and could feel his sharp glare at her. But who cares? As the days go by, little by little, she can overcome her fear and anxiety.

'He can't harm me… us.'

She continued to walk and stopped near the main door as she turned to look in his direction. She arched her brow when she saw him walk.

"Walk normally. Don't let yourself walk just like that as if your left leg is shorter than your right one," Cassie said.

As much as she wanted to laugh, she just couldn't. She knew Theo didn't want to be offended. And having this weakness, she could feel how thin his patience was.

"Why don't you finish your coffee and help—"

"You're an independent man. You don't want others helping you, right?"

His forehead knitted. "Who fucking told you that?"

She shrugged her shoulder. "Just," she replied and continued walking outside his house. As she continues her steps toward the garden, she hears those men in black greeting Theo. But she couldn't even hear any response from him.

Still a cold-hearted jerk.

Times passed, and she was still sitting here, watching Theo walk around the rose bushes. She has already finished her coffee, and Theo has five more minutes.

She couldn't help but smile as she saw him struggling to walk. Guess he's not that inevitable. Maybe it will take two weeks before he gets back to his pace. Although it wasn't severely damaged, still the impact of the truck that hit his car in moderation created pain and injury on his left leg.

As per the news and Kurt's, he was hit by a ten-wheeler truck. The truck lost its control, making it hit Theo's car. But from Theo's point of view, even if the truck driver has been arrested, it wasn't an accident. It seems like someone was behind it.

They are not mentioning it, but that's what she feels.

"How many fucking minutes yet?"

Theo's irritating voice pulled her back to her senses. She looked at the timer and shouted, "2 more minutes."

Theo stopped and walked toward her. "I can't do it anymore. We can resume tomorrow," he said, making her arch a brow.

"I'm your doctor. So, you must listen to me—"

"Fuck it! I have an online conference at 6:30, and I am still here, sweating while struggling the fuck—"

"Can you stop adding the word 'fuck' whenever you utter your sentences? If you think it's cool, then it's freaking not," she uttered.

Theo darted his gaze into hers, and his brows met at the center of his forehead. "You're just a doctor. So, stop telling me what to do."

She scoffed and stood up. "Really? Then I am willing to leave this fucking place!"

"Now you're adding fuck—"

"Shut up! If you don't want to listen to me, just say so, and I am very much willing to leave this freaking hell!"

Theo stood up and walked closer to her, making her take one step backward. "No one can leave the house… without my permission."

She crossed her arms in front of her chest. "Really? Then you better follow my instructions because I only wanted to help you recover. Since you're just pretending, why can't you pretend you can do everything now?"

Theo smirked, and she totally hated it. "Oh, well, wait for it, baby," he stated, making her feel cringe.

"A devil who instantly became sweet disgusts me. And don't you ever call me 'baby'! I am not your baby!" she asserted and turned away.

She took bigger steps, and all she ever wanted at this moment was to stay away from him. He's the cause of her headache.

Living with him is tiring. What if this will take a year or so?

Gosh, maybe that's why he's not settling yet because no one can stand with his attitude… with his bipolarity.

Sometimes he's playing nice, sometimes he's being pure devilish!

"I will make arrangements for your stay—"

"We already talked about this, Theo. I don't want you to mention anything about it. It is clear that we're going to stay until you recover—"

"No, the agreement doesn't include that. Camila is my daughter. She's my responsibility."

She nodded. Yeah, only Camila?

But she didn't expect what he said for the next second.

"And you are my responsibility, too. You're Camila's mother, and she still needs you. I will tell you when you will leave this house," he said, which she knew she could never change.

She was slightly elated by his words. But sometimes, reality always hits her. They have no clarification. They have no relationship. What they only have is maybe near mutual understanding.

"These are the topics that I wanted to avoid, Mr. Smith."

She saw how a sly smirk formed on his lips. "What happened with you, calling me Theo earlier?" he stated, more of a tease.

She rolled her eyes and stood up. "If you don't need anything, I will go now. Camila needs me also."

Theo nodded. "Sure. But make sure to check on me before you go to bed," he demanded, making her arch her left brow.

"Are you being serious? What are you… a one-year-old boy?"

"Isn't your responsibility… as my doctor?"

She doesn't know what to say. She was lost for words. She wanted to pull her hair and scream at the top of her lungs. She didn't know that Theo was like this. He acted like a kid. She doesn't know if he's doing it intentionally just to pester her or if he is showing the other side of the well-known, heartless, and ruthless CEO.

"Are you really doing all of this on purpose, Mr. Smith? Do I really need to check on you from time to time?"

Theo shrugged once again, which made her blood boil in anger. "I am just telling—"

"Please, Mr. Smith. Have some consideration. We're together almost the whole day because of your pickiness. And I hate this kind of demand. So, please, don't make things hard for me. I am also tired of dealing with you—"

"Fine. Get out. I am just trying if it…" he murmured, making her frown as she couldn't hear his other words.

She heaved a deep sigh. "Now, you're being sarcastic. If you continue to be like this…" she sighed again, "I don't know if I can handle you—"

"Just leave. Our discussion ended," he interrupted, and after that, he turned to the other direction of his bed.

Did she make him mad?

But he's really different. If he wants to say something to her, if maybe he can give her a reason why he wants her to check on him, then maybe she can consider it.

Day by day, she started to learn about Theo's personality. He may look strong and tough to others, but deep inside… it seems he's seeking attention.

Before she closed the door, she said, "Goodnight." She doesn't know if he's really gonna sleep this early since it's still 8:15 in the evening.
