"What do you mean?"
"It was obvious, Col, I am wasn't what she expected."
"What she expected? Colton repeated.
"You know what I mean, Col," Marissa placed her hair behind her ear. "No matter how hard I try I'm not on same level as you are and I don't think your grandma likes me because she thinks I'm not right for you."
"Slowdown Mari," Colton grabbed her waist. "I'm sure there's something going on but my grandma isn't someone like that. She would never look down on anyone."
"Alright then," Marissa didn't argue.
She had no strength to argue. Her heart shattered as she concluded that she couldn't be up to Colton's standard despite working so hard for this meeting.
"You did well, Mari and I'm sure grandma will accept you."
"You think she will? Marissa's brow raised.
"I'm sure she will," Colton ascertained.
"Do you think I did something wrong?"
"No... No Mari, you did nothing wrong."
