Marriage

As soon as their elevator reached the lobby, Kelvin and Luliyah immediately stepped out. Everyone in the lobby immediately stopped what they were doing and immediately greeted their boss.

Luliyah felt awkward seeing everyone looking down at her. Even though those people didn't pay attention to her, she was walking down the lobby with Kelvin so she caught their attention.

When she glanced at the reception corner to check the woman who had refused her arrival to meet with Kelvin. Luliyah didn't know that the receptionist just lost her job because she was not polite to her.

As she stared at the reception desk, a man rushed over to Kelvin. The man's face was handsome with bogus glasses in his eyes, making him look smart. He looked very neat from head to toe, not a single strand of hair came out of the other. He was tall and nearly matched Kelvin's height. In contrast to Kelvin's white skin like a stranger, this man's skin was olive yellow, showing the thickness of his Indonesia blood.

The man immediately bowed before Kelvin. Unlike the others, Kelvin responded to the man by tapping him on the shoulder, making the man to straighten up.

"Harris, let's go now," Kelvin said softly.

"Yes Sir". Harris replied immediately.

Hearing that name, Luliyah immediately realized that the man is Kelvin's personal assistant and confidant. In a way, Harris was Kelvin's right hand man.

Harris noticed Luliyah's presence and nodded his head slightly. Luliyah nodded back and followed Kelvin back to his car.

A luxurious black car stopped right in front of the three of them as they waited in the lobby. Before they could take a step, someone walked out of the driver's door. That person was Agi, Kelvin's driver who was ordered to pick up Luliyah in the morning.

The middle aged man immediately opened the door for Kelvin and Luliyah while Harris stepped toward the passenger seat. When he looked at Luliyah, Agi smiled in a friendly manner, "Please, sir, miss."

Luliyah returned the smile warmly, "Thank you sir. Sorry for this morning."

Agi only nodded briefly. He did not dare linger and buy time for his boss. He immediately closed the door and got back into the driver's seat.

After entering, Luliyah was immediately dazed when she saw the inside of the car. The car was so luxurious. Although her father had so many cars lined up in his garage, none of her father's cars was near equivalent to Kelvin's car. There was even a screen separating the driver and the passenger sections in the middle.

She sat upright, fearing she would accidentally touch something and break it. If something was broken, she didn't know how she was going to replace it.

As she sunk into her amazement, her eyes subconsciously fell on Kelvin. The man was closing his eyes, looking exhausted. Even with his eyes closed, Kelvin's face still looked extraordinarily handsome as if beautifully carved by well known craftsmen.

She would marry this handsome man. Wasn't this like a dream come true?

Looks, wealth, power... What does this man lack? Any woman would bend her knees before this man, begging him to marry her. But this man chose her instead.

Supposedly, Luliyah felt she was the luckiest woman in the world because she was the one that this extraordinary man chose. Unfortunately, she doesn't love him.

The marriage registration process happened very quickly. Luliyah held her marriage book in disbelief. She was pensive while holding the book, her eyes seemed unfocused.

She opened the book and saw that her and Kelvin's photos was decorated on it. Her brain couldn't digest that she was married already.

"We will pack all the things in your house," Kelvin said, breaking Luliyah out of her thoughts.

Luliyah looked up, seeing Kelvin who said it while closing his eyes.

"Ah ... But ..." Luliyah couldn't digest it all. Everything was happening so fast. Wasn't their marriage just a contract marriage? Should she also live with Kelvin?

'Contract marriage...'

They were married because of their own interests.

Harris initially opposed the marriage because Kelvin was in no gain position. Kelvin will spend a lot of money to pay for Luliyah's mother hospital bill, but what will she give Kelvin in return?

In the end, Luliyah offered her mother's flower garden as a guarantee that she would surely pay her debt someday. After all her debts are paid off, she would be free again.

Meanwhile, Kelvin was satisfied with Harris decision. With the flower garden as a guarantee, Luliyah would become more attached to him and would not escape from his grasp.

Kelvin just looked at Luliyah with a raised eyebrow.

Luliyah could only be silent and shut her mouth tightly. Right now, all she could do was follow Kelvin's words and orders. She owed this man a debt of gratitude and would do her best to help him.

After arriving at her house, Luliyah hurried inside and packed up. She was assisted by Harris and Agi while Kelvin waited in his car.

She entered her room and took out a bag to pack all her belongings. Luliyah did not have many things. Most of her belongings were old stuff because she didn't have the money to shop or buy anything new.

She kept her mother's things neatly arranged at home, hoping that one day her mother would come back. The longest pictures of herself and her mother filled the entire house, making the house warm and full of love. Only these photos was the treasure she had.

After everything was done, Agi helped Luliyah carry her bag into the car. Meanwhile, Luliyah locked the door of her house.

This time, Luliyah would leave the house for quite a long time. Precisely so that she could pay off all her debts.

When she closed the door of the house, she wondered whether she would return to the house with her mother. Even though it was small and simple, there were too many memories in the house, making her miss those times.

Memories of when Luliyah and her mother tried to rise from adversity after the divorce of her parents.

Happy memories between the two of them....

Sad memories of when her mother fell ill and made Luliyah to struggle alone.

And the present memories that were still freshly filled with tears, suffering and struggle.

Today, Luliyah closed the door of her house feeling scared and happy at the same time.

She was afraid to imagine a future that was not clear, but also happy because she did not have to walk alone anymore.

Maybe she didn't love Kelvin yet, but at least she doesn't have to face life alone anymore. Kelvin will assist her through it all. Kelvin will lift the burden off her chest.

At least, there would be someone who will be beside her always.

Now, her name is no longer Luliyah Parker, but Luliyah Williams.
