First Test

The three led Luna near the people hosting the said ceremony. They knew them for the persons that were responsible for the said event were the Advanced Mages that would, later on, become one of Luna's teachers inside the academy.

The open area was getting piled up by people whether they were new students or the older ones.

"Do your best Luna! We'll be watching you from the seats," Sylvette said.

"Good luck!" Ashley uttered.

Although Luna looked bewildered by what they were saying. There was not a single sit she could see in this huge open area. Despite the sea of people, her clear eyesight could observe that there was none.

Suddenly, the woman that kept on leading out the students on a certain area earlier chanted a spell. The earth trembled and some were about to tumble on the ground.

"What's happening?" Someone said.

Not long after seats resembling that of a staircase stood tall, circling the open area while leaving a part where students could get out and into the place they were in.

"Older students who want to watch, please take a seat. New students, line up to those people wearing short gray robes," the woman said.

Despite the absence of a microphone, Luna could hear her loud and clear at an open place filled with chattering people. It seemed that the convenience of magic greatly declined their advancement of technology.

She was now left alone as her three roommates went on to their seats. When she was about to line up, there she could see a wooden plank with the words 'Magic swordsman'.

'So this line is for that class!' Luna thought.

Mages also have different classes though they generally called themselves mages for they use magic in almost everything. A magic swordsman was an example. Luna circled around the lined-up people and looked for the healer class.

In the midst of it, Luna felt the intense gaze of the new students. In the hall earlier, all of them were certainly curious about the Honorary Master Mage's statement. They didn't saw her face completely but her eye-catching robe was clear that she was the one sitting beside the Honorary Master Mage.

'What kind of student he decided to take in?' they thought.

Certainly, the older students might have heard of it but it seemed that the news didn't spread enough though it might be evident later.

When she stopped at the healer's section, disdain definitely covered the faces of many new students.

"Who would have thought," someone said.

Luna almost laughed at their expressions. Someone with healing capabilities would have struck it rich back in Earth. Since Vermillion's people were basking in magic, they rarely got serious diseases that the healer class started to decline.

Luna fell in a line across the healer section though she could only see that only a handful of them was there.

And all of them seemed to be nobles. It showed how some people with the healer class didn't even think of attending the Magic Academy. And only those who had higher power in this nation could afford to match up to their healing and magic skills with other classes. Luna frowned upon their kind of thinking.

'I'll prove them wrong,' Luna thought.

When she was next in line the woman asked for her name.

"Luna Noir sien Mendelevinn," she said.

There was only one person with that last name in Magus Nation. The woman went stunned. She wondered why a person related to him was boldly taking the role of a healer. Surely, a healer has some offense-magic attack and could take the role of a paladin.

Luna began to glare threateningly. Surely, a grown woman and an already Advanced mage like her should understand every class's importance and shouldn't discriminate.

"H-here's your badge. The number indicates your turn. It's also a possibility that a healer class will take a single class battle in the next rounds if you pass the first few tests," she said.

Luna took the badge coldly and walked away without saying anything. The healer class tests began shortly as there were few takers compared to the hundreds of new students to other classes.

When she walked to the scene, the injured animals that looked unfamiliar to her were in the middle of a stone table in various sizes.

"Who wants to go first?" The man said.

He's the one who would evaluate them. Seeing his clothes, it looked like he wasn't even a fully-fledged healer but a mage that had healing spells as a sub-class.

'Just how low a healer's position could get,' Luna thought.

She walked up in front of the other young healers who just stared at her. It seemed that they wanted to get ideas after she took the test.

Her lips curved into a grin. She showed her badge that had the healer symbol at the center though Luna didn't know what kind of symbol it is.

"I'm Luna Noir sien Mendelevinn taking the test to be a healer," she said.

"You may begin," he said.

Luna walked near the smaller monsters first and healed them simultaneously. The magic circle beneath her shone in golden light and the golden flames that enveloped the small animals seemed to soothe the audience's eyes.

Often, the healer's test could only get few audiences and all were closely related to the test takers but the man holding the test could clearly see the gaping eyes of many people near their area.

Meanwhile, Luna could observe that the animals weren't simply injured. She somehow started to sense the poisons and diseases through her magic. She slowly centered some golden flames with the parts that were poisoned and to where the disease had spread apart.

In such a short time, she moved towards the next animals and didn't wait for the others to wake up as she was sure that they were completely healed.

The others had similar cases though the potency of some poisons was much harder to eliminate. But that didn't stop Luna's golden flames. Her hands didn't budge an inch from having it raised towards the level of her chest and continued healing them at a consistent rate.

Soon, all of them woke up but a shackle appeared and quickly bound the larger animals as if they knew that the animal here was dangerous.

But Luna could see how weak the magic shackles were.

'They weren't anticipating for them to be healed huh?' Luna said.

She glared at the large animals in front and weakly summoned her white flames to its body where others could not see.

The animals sensed the ominous magic that came from the girl and behaved.

Then Luna faced the man responsible for their test.

"I'm done," Luna said.

His widened eyes were visible to see and quickly walked up to the animals though there was nothing to check. The energetic small animals were running around in circles and the larger ones weren't moving to their positions but were also healed.

"Y-you passed. I shall give you the golden-tier healing but let me notify my superior first," he said.

The man could see her abilities but he wanted her superior to see the result. It was because he didn't want to be scolded for giving a high-rank badge to a new student just because her flames were golden.

'She needs to see it for himself!' he thought.

Luna waited for them patiently. There, she could see the man with a woman in long gray robes.

She checked the animal's condition with a delight in her eyes.

"You are a one gifted person. May the grace bless you always," she said.

"Give her the golden-tier badge. With me as a witness, no one should think that this lady didn't deserve it," continued.

Then the man asked for her badge which she gave after. When the woman in long gray robes took it, it floated between her hands and a light shone brilliantly upon the badge.

'It changed appearance!' Luna thought.

When they were talking about giving a golden badge they meant changing her badge's appearance. The healer symbol was now at the center of a colorless round-shaped jewel and the small golden wings' intricate design was astounding.

"Wear this at the side of your robe," the woman said.

Then she turned towards the man.

"I shall be leaving now," she said.

"You may, Madam Sierra," the man said.

Once the woman left them, the man began instructing her on what to do.

"You didn't need to take the rest of the first test. You can proceed and join the single battle or the other one to gain points. You would need those points in the near future," he said.

Luna didn't know how it could help but her decision was firm from the start.

"I'll join the single battle," Luna uttered.

She walked away to the healer class section and began thinking of her strategies she would do later.
