Part 3: Food

"Now let's eat some delicious food," said Leo. He went straight to the kitchen and opened a few cabinets. His eyes glimpsed the inside of the cabinets until he spoke up.

"Do you have any allergies?"

"I don't"

"Good. Any food preferences?"

"I hate eating beans, cabbage, tomatoes, and anything that contains these ingredients"

"Wow, It's like you have been waiting for a question like this." Leo cracked a laugh.

'Weird old man'

"Anyway, I don't exactly have food."

"Then why would you even ask all those questions, old man!" Hayden was flustered. He didn't know why. He just felt on the edge like anything can make him blow up. 

"Feisty much? I will go to the town to buy some. I only have vegetables and fruits which It seems like you aren't that fond of."

"Like I said I can eat things that don't have cabbage, beans, or tomatoes."

"Yeah, those are like most homecooked foods main ingredients."

"You are just bad at cooking."

"Then you can cook."

Hayden shot a death glare at Leo.

'Me? I am this empire's general. Why should I cook or learn how to cook.'

"I am better at cutting," Hayden said, his eyes were cold and emotionless.

"I feel like I'm about to get murdered. Okay, chill out kiddo. I will do the cooking."

"Obviously," Hayden said with a smirk.

"Such a brat. Are you at least okay with eating tomatoes in a soup?"

"I guess It will be okay"

"Perfect!"

 ...

"Here is your soup," said Leo while putting the soup on the table. Lion was right beside him, wagging his tail.

"Thanks for the food."

"At least you know how to appreciate good food." 

"Food is food," said Hayden. He extended his arm to Lion's head who thought the food was his and was now standing beside him, looking at the food.

"Seems like he is also hungry."

"He has his bowl right there," Leo said, pointing at the bowl on the floor.

"He just likes eating other people's food." Leo continued.

"Everything is so weird here."

"You are right" answered Leo. 

 There was a shocked expression on Hayden's face. He didn't mean to say it out loud. He quickly tried to collect himself. He had been showing too much emotion today. He didn't know why. He acted like a child and joked around with Mr. Leo.

 Leo smiled as he noticed the worries Hayden had.

"You seem to be breaking out of your shell. So proud of you!"

 Hayden immediately blushed. Such blunt words were so foreign to him. Especially since It was praise.

"It's getting late so It's time for you to go to bed kiddo."

"It's not even that late."

"It is. Off to bed, you go!" said Leo.

"At least show me my room, old man."

...

"Thank you..."

"Aww, It was only a moment ago that you were calling me an old man. Kids grow up so fast"

"I take It back!"

"No takebacks!" said Leo. He closed the door as his giggles turned into laughs.

'Rude bastard.' thought Hayden as he drifted into the dreamland.
