Magus in Marvel
Chapter 3 Part 3
By: Pineappl3
After a few slices of pineapple, I was standing in front of the door that led to the woman I had saved. With a single knock I waited patiently. After a few seconds the door opened to reveal the woman.
I was now able to get a good look at her face and I could instantly tell she was of mixed origin. Studying her facial structure I hazard a guess she was of European and Asian descent.
Her hair was now clean and she smelled of the lavender shampoo Nixie had taken a liking too. She was dressed in Nixie's sleepwear, but it seemed too tight around the chest.
Bringing my gaze away from her body back to her face, I studied her eyes. They were a beautiful yellow that reminded me of a citrine gem. I cleared my throat before speaking, "I'm Baldur and I've taken care of those men. You may stay here for the night and in the morning we can assist you in any reasonable way we can. I just stopped by to make sure you were alright."
I flashed her a brief smile and began to walk away. As I did, I could faintly make out a thanks and I made my way to my bathroom. "Nixie, draw me a bath. I need to destress tonight."
With a sultry grin Nixie got up from her seat and moved past me to enter the bathroom before me. Thinking about my Mother makes me regret some of the way I handled things with my current Mother. I'd track her down but she disabled the app. Maybe I'll have Athena deal with it.'
Putting the thought away, I began to disrobe with the assistance of Nixie and entered the steaming bath. As I leaned back I let myself drift as I was scrubbed clean and tried to keep my mind from wandering.
The next morning I woke up feeling completely refreshed and realized Nixie had already prepared me breakfast. Following the smell of fresh bacon, I found myself about to exit my room before I was stopped.
Nixie had gotten my attention by pointing down and I realized I was not currently dressed. Not wanting to waste any time, I made use of my telekinesis spell that I had been slowly refining to use a little mana as possible in this body.
With a robe loosely draped over my body, I finally left my room and found the white haired woman quietly eating. "Good morning. I hope you slept well." 'Good thing I added a sound barrier last night.'
The woman gave me a slight nod and softly spoke. "Thank you for saving me. My name is Sofia Tran."
Sofia started to tear up and I could tell she had truly lived a hard life. I simply nodded in response and we both ate our food in silence. Once she had finished she waited at the table and once I had cleared my plate, I stood.
"Come with me Sofia, we'll get you checked out and make sure you're healthy. Then we can figure out what to do with you." I made my way to the elevator with Sofia in tow and we began the descent to my Apothecary that also doubled as a med bay and storage area for my ingredients.
As we left the elevator, I noticed Sofia held a look of awe at the state of the art facilities I had. From rows of medical beds and magical healing tanks to all sorts of machines for testing and scanning, I had practically everything.
I directed Sofia to lay on one of the beds and I quickly teleported myself to my room so I could get properly changed with the assistance of Nixie. Now dressed in my favorite robes, I teleported back and had a few pieces of equipment float over.
I watched Sofia's eyes go wide once more but other than that she kept a stoic expression. I moved to her side and began to run multiple tests, magical and otherwise.
Magically I could tell she was healthy and that she had no aptitude for standard magic. I could see however one of her ancestors had mated with a great serpent and she had inherited a very tiny bit of it's blood.
My modern machines on the other hand told me another story. This woman was indeed healthy on all fronts modern medicine could detect but that was not what I was focused on. Sofia had a dormant X-Gene.
It was the same one I had been reading about and trying to study, luckily for the people of New York I wasn't the kind to abduct people for experiments. So, I was hard pressed to find DNA to study.
Now that a source was right in front of me I was excited. I had a theory on how to activate the X-Gene using magic, but that's all it was, a theory. "Well Sofia, looks like you are completely healthy. I would like to inform you however, you have a dormant X-Gene. Do you know what that is?"
She shook her head gently and softly spoke, "No, I have no clue what that is Sir. Could you explain?"
Nodding in the affirmative, I began to explain that once activated it provided people with abilities of sorts and that I was certain given a little bit of time I could activate it. I knew it was wrong of me, but I began to entice her by telling her a range of possible things she could do with such a power.
Realising I had her hook, line and sinker, I convinced her to stay while I slowly worked to unlock her latent abilities. It had hardly taken any time for me to figure out how to stimulate her cells with mana to activate the X-Gene and once I was positive it would work again, I performed the same ritual on her as I did on her DNA samples.
Hours and a few tests later, both my magical and medical tests had given me dramatically different results. Sofia was now extremely sensitive to mana and would make a fantastic Spiritualist with her link to that serpent. My magic had also let me gleam a unique ability she had inherited from said beast.
All along her body were translucent scales so faint you would never notice unless mana was channeled into them. These scales resisted magical effects and although I couldn't immediately tell how strong they were, I knew this was an amazing ability.
Through medical tests, I was able to figure out the rest of what she had gotten from her X-Gene. Sofia was now completely immune to poison and using her blood I could make a cureall for poisons. Not only that, but Sofia could also secrete poison from her canines and her nails.
"How are you feeling?" I slowly approached her as she finally woke up from her metamorphosis. "I did a few tests and documented your new abilities. You can read them for yourself."
I handed her a clipboard and after a moment of reading, she began to tear up. She quickly moved to hug me and I gave her a pat on the back. "You also have an affinity for Shamanism, If you are not opposed how about you stay here and I teach you."
Sofia quickly pulled herself from me and stared at me, "Ar-are you serious?"
Chuckling, I responded. "Yes, as serious as Dragon Fire." I straightened my robes and took a step back. "Well I'll take that as a yes. From now on you may call me Master, Teacher, or Archmagus. Talk to Nixie and she will have Athena teach you the basics of magic. They apply to all disciplines. In the meantime, I'll plan out your training."
Giving her one last smile, I left Sofia on the medical floor and mentally informed Nixie to help her out. 'Now I have two students. Both I bet will be extremely gifted in their respective fields.'
Alone in the elevator I couldn't help but laugh. "Everything is all coming together isn't it Athena."
"Yes Father, everything is going according to plan. I would also like to inform you that I have procured 33 percent of Stark Industries. I have also successfully infiltrated Tony's private servers. He has an assistant named J.A.R.V.I.S. who is similar to me but not as advanced. He has not detected me."
I nodded my head, "Good, good. Anything else?"
"Yes. Tony has just replaced something in his chest called a 'Palladium Arc Reactor Mark I' with a new one, 'Palladium Arc Reactor Mark II.' I have copied and analyzed the item. It's a palm sized energy generator which could solve the problems for both 'Project Sol' and 'Project Ares.'"
I let out an even greater laugh than before, "Perfect, I knew you wouldn't let me down Stark. Athena continues to keep tabs on him and start infiltrating companies for more technology. I want to be ready for my ascension to Master level by the end of this week."
At first I had thought Tony Stark was nothing but an above average merchant of sorts, but ever since his disappearance I took a little more interest in his dealings. I was pleasantly surprised at his mechanical genius and it seemed I had correctly assumed his escape was more than mere luck as the media had led me to believe.
I made sure Athena got all of that before I continued. "Also let's open another project, let's call it 'Helios I' after that Titan and Stark's naming convention."
