Chapter 22: Sweet Home Alabama

A young gal wearing a bright white dress, highlighting her fine complexion that isn't considered rare for a human in the current era. This also eliminates the question of whether she was a genetically modified baby where her appearance is formulated or not.

Her levitating carrier followed her to the front door. All of her baggage that is not that many, is stacked and neatly arranged.

This is the old baggage transport in the empire that is affordable for rent. Fast, efficient, and no complaints to gossip about.

Nana was still thinking about something else. The thing she witnessed can be only labeled as a miracle. Just like the one she witnessed beforehand and how she was still alive.

It was incredulous for her because of her stubbornness. A supernatural phenomenon is just a figment of imagination brought forth by different factors such as stress and fatigue. She may have accepted she isn't a human anymore but has still the inkling to deny the things that topple her understanding of the world.

It was for more than 20 years that she stably pushed forward to take care of the needs of the two of them. In that timeframe, she never encountered something bone-chilling that will even scare the most stoic men.

Sometimes, ignorance is a blessing but extreme dismissal of certain things is courting disaster.

Thus, the single justification for her behavior of not utilizing her Jirhen and the disbelief when she saw what her sister actually build.

Just as she opened it, a gust of strong wind struck her. Black ash clogged every sense the next moment. Coughing sounds came from the insides and the angry shouts of people inside.

"Why aren't you listening to me?!"

"Why the fuck should I listen to you? You ain't my mother, bitch!"

"Bastard, I'm gonna kill you!"

Boom!

A secondary minor explosion occurred as more dust rose up in the atmosphere of the living quarters.

Not waiting for the dust to settle, she strode forward and was dumbfounded on what she saw. Her enhanced eyes clearly saw a scene that is easily misunderstood.

A girl is sitting on top of Lon, straddling and choking him with her pale skin. It is a lovely scene of two lovers with fetish if not for the corpse puppet pulling the torso of the woman.

"Your gf?" She probed, afraid that her presence might stain their relationship.

"Does she look like the one men will like!"

Even in that darkened surroundings, Lon rebutted because who else would have the key to the house beside the Loomrock sisters.

"Now help me get her off me!"

However, before she could act and help, a peal of childish laughter came from the sitting girl as she stood up and inspected the newcomer with her shining red eyes.

"Hehe, who's this person?" This drastic change is scary for Nana but Lon has gotten used to it. Whenever she is introduced to something new, an object, a show, or another person, her attitude and personality will have a 360-degree rotation. It was simply her insatiable curiosity about everything.

"It's none of your business." He stood up with difficulty as he patted his clothes. The arrival was sooner than he expected. "She's just another undead like you."

"Mister Lon, you shouldn't have kept secrets from your client like this. Danger could lurk in any.."

"She's the owner of this house." At his claim, the whole personality and aura exuded by her changed one more time.

"Oh my, I am sorry for my misdemeanor landlady! My name's Beatrix, what's yours?" Like an aristocratic lady, she slightly bowed and formally introduced herself.

"I'm Nana, Nana Loomrock." She was nervous because of how enthusiastic this woman is from her wide smile that it has an alarming meaning. Two bloody moons shined as she became polite and began pestering her.

"Miss Nana, don't you think it will be good if we purchased a sound system?"

"How about three computer setup for the three of us, so that we could play games altogether!"

"We could also install three different VR capsules in each room so that we could play in virtual reality!"

This was partially Lon's fault as he released a mental sigh. She has been pestering him for a couple of days for various reasons until a grand idea came to his mind.

That idea was to push all responsibility to somewhere else. And the perfect candidate that fit the bill finally arrived. The missing 'landlady' that has the authority over which furniture shall be chosen.

"Is she another zombie?" She directly asked her suspicion.

"Nope, she's a corpse puppet." His finger pointed at the standing big man on the sidelines.

This confused her. Aren't they supposedly have no sentience, incapable of thinking, destined to be controlled?

Instead of an explanation, he simply pointed at herself and said a simple sentence.

"Another soul that occupies the body."

"Please, please, at least VR machine, miss Nana" The woman with voluptuous curves was begging like a kid with her watery eyes and pouting lips.

The thick fog has finally subsided, leaving a horrendous sight. Dozens of black spots smudged the floor, the walls, and the ceiling. Charred pieces of electronics and molten metals desecrated the whole floor. It was the embodiment of the aftermath of a fiery storm.

"What the!" A startled Nana stared at everything and couldn't help but curse out loud. Something she rarely does. "You piece of shit! Why the house is so dirty!"

"It's all his fault, landlady!" Beatrix jumped at this chance as she wanted to get back to the incompetence and nonchalance of her caregiver. It was a first for her that her own butler won't even cook and ordered food delivery for almost a week.

Lon simply shrugged as he returned to what he was doing. This simple action of insensibility of his made them mad with fire, only to be extinguished the next moment.

"Here", a small bag was thrown to Nana, clumsily catching it with difficulty. "200 thousand Nins are in there. Now leave me alone for the moment."

Beatrix will certainly accept such an offer. She doesn't have to see that annoying face and has money to spend. But the other woman doesn't share the same sentiments as her.

"Then who the heck will clean all this mess?", freeing her hand, he pointed to all the man-made damages the flat sustained.

"I will clean up, so go away."
