'Where am I?' Vernos Rubenfield suddenly woke up in a carriage. 'I was fighting against the magic beast tide when the planet started rumbling and there was a flash of light and I just woke up here.' Suddenly without warning, there was a sharp pain in Vernos's head. 'I'm a baron in the year 1103 of the magic calendar? My dad was a viscount but he mysteriously died last month and my title became a baron and I was given a barren land called Vermont?' Vernos came from the year 51103, exactly fifty thousand years. The technology 50000 years in the future was much more advanced but during the year 50050 magic beasts started to rampage and were much stronger than they were. They killed 93% of the human population and the ones left had to group up in tiny survivor bases to resist magic beast tides.
"My lord, we are surrounded by magic beasts!" While Vernos was gathering his thoughts his knight commander Lucas called out. "Stay in the carriage we will dispose of them quickly."
Vernos was left with 50 knights and 10 mage apprentices. They all worked under the viscount and chose to follow Vernos to his new fief. The viscount had over 600 knights and 100 mages but most of them chose to leave, the ones left are the most loyal of his father's followers.
Sure enough, 15 minutes later, His knight commander reported that they took care of the magic beasts with no causalities. Most of his knights were stages 1 and 2. His knight commander was surprisingly a stage 4 knight. Before he came back he didn't even know Lucas was stage 4 but using his knowledge he could easily tell his cultivation base. Not many people know that Lucas was a stage 4 knight amongst his people. His knights only knew that Lucas was much stronger than them but after today's attack, they all learned that Lucas was a stage 4 knight. Stage 4 knights are also called Sky knights. The average person can't train up to a sky knight, you need a good aptitude and good resources.
"My lord, the beasts ate through our supplies, it looks like they were looking for something." A servant ran up and reported.
"Let me take a look," Vernos said while walking towards the wagon full of supplies. "My lord no need to get up we will investigate," Lucas said while running after Vernos. While Vernos was rummaging his hands through the mess the beasts made he found something that surprised him.
"Who brought the grain?" Vernos questioned his head butler Albert. "My lord, Ruben brought the grain, he said he still had some at home and wanted to give them to you so he brought them," Vernos ordered Lucas to capture Ruben, Lucas was surprised but still followed his orders. "My lord, we can't find Ruben or his family," Lucas reported after 10 minutes of searching. "Ruben betrayed us, there was Ekwood mixed with the grain. Ekwood makes beasts go crazy and fight over it without fear for their lives." Vernos wasn't surprised that Ruben went missing and quickly explained. "Ruben wouldn't have the guts to betray you by himself someone put him up to it." Lucas quickly came to a conclusion.
Vernos had the guards double their patrols while they continued the journey to Vermont. The journey in total would take 2 months because of how far it is from the capital. They have been on the journey for one month and 25 days already. 'I really need to invent a faster mode of transportation, I can't believe they are still using horse-drawn carriages to get around.' Vernos was getting tired of this long journey by carriage. 'Reading all those books during my free time in the survivors base is gonna come in handy. I never would have thought I would come back fifty thousand years into the past.'
When Vernos was bored he would read books and study all about magical technology and knew all kinds of stuff. He was titled the number 1 scholar of the wasteland. In fifty thousand years magical technology became highly advanced and many new inventions came out, even something that was considered old would be highly advanced now. Using this knowledge Vernos can build a magic empire to support him and gather resources for his mage training.
'Now that I think about it this body doesn't have a trace of magic and it is already 16.' The old Vernos never trained in magic he was a very lazy person. Nobles his age have already started their magic training and become magic apprentices, the really talented ones are already first-stage magicians. Naturally, magic training has evolved over fifty thousand years and became easier and faster so Vernos can quickly catch up.
'Which technique should I use? I am a noble and using my knowledge I can quickly make money and gather a bunch of resources, so I should use the origin elemental technique. This technique was called the best technique of the eons but nobody practiced it because it took a lot of resources to get to high stages and after 50,000 years all the resources on the continent were used up so nobody could practice it.'
The origin elemental technique uses natural treasures from all elements to cultivate it. In the later stages, it gets very expensive to maintain and nobody people could afford it, so it was quickly discarded. Using the resources of this era and his status as a noble Vernos can quickly go through the stages in the future. The beginning stages don't need any resources so Vernos can just start cultivating right away.
5 days later,
'Finally, I broke through and became a magic apprentice, this body's aptitude is really bad.' Vernos had finally broken through to the magic apprentice stage after 5 days of cultivating. It should have taken 2 days but because his body's aptitude was terrible it took him an extra 3 days.
"My lord, we have entered Vermont and we will enter the city after half an hour," Albert reported after they entered his territory.
