Chapter 82

Half an hour ago, Ray got out of the center with the prime minister, and they both entered the car where Steven, Kai, and Josephine were waiting.

"Isn't it too easy?" Josephine said

"I know, something feels wrong", Ray said, however, no one could know that the car was filled with bombs that can explode a whole building

"STOP THE CAR RIGHT NOW", Ray shouted once he realized the truth based on the fact that he smelled a familiar smell on the southern mafia leader when he ran into him while leaving the building, a smell just like his car mixed with some fuel and sulfur.

"What's wrong?" Steven asked

"The car is… bombed", Ray answered, however, no one said a thing, as if they weren't afraid at all

"We don't know what kind of bombs they used so we actually don't have time. All of you, open the doors and jump out, NOW", Kai said calmly

"What?" Ray said

"We are in the middle of the city, Ray. We can't put all those people here in danger. I will keep driving until I reach a safe place far from innocent people", Kai said, yet Josephine put on her seat belt calmly and said "Kai is right, there are hundreds of people here. jump out you two, I'm afraid we are going to die with the prime minister tonight"

"Hell no…", Ray said

"Ray. There is no other choice, the mafia won against us this time", Steven said.

Ray looked into Steven's eyes that were turning red, then he opened the door, looking at the people he grew up with, feeling the wind breaking down all the walls he built around himself since he was young, and feeling pain in his chest like he never felt before. "Good bye. Kai and aunt Josephine. Sorry", he said, then he jumped out with Steven, leaving Josephine and Kai alone for the last time

Kai kept driving silently and as fast as possible, wile Josephine was only looking at him as if she was trying to memorize his face

"It's nice. Dying with you", she said

"Can't you just jump like them?" he said with a voice that choked in tears

"... they say that souls of people who die together get stuck forever, isn't that nice. Don't cry, idiot. I faced your death once, and I can guarantee that I can't face it again, add to that that we are going to die together", she said calmly

"Yeah, it's nice" he said, then he finally looked back at her, with tears covering both their faces and a smile on their lips. The car exploded just after it crossed the entrance of the city, and just like that, Kai and Josephine met their death, together and holding hands. Just like super heroes, they save hundreds of people even if it meant not saving the most important person to each of them. A perfect ending for a tragic love story they both lived in, and a perfect way for dying, or that what their last words were

On the other hand, Steven and Ray were walking through the city, not willing to talk or do anything, just walking peacefully and silently

"You knew it, didn't you? You knew that the car was bombed before entering it", Steven said to Ray who was walking in front of him, yet he didn't even pause or flinch

"I knew you would realize that fast", Ray said

"Why?" Steven asked

"The prime minister has no weaknesses, and even if we killed him, the king would find someone just like him fast. The only option left for us is to take his place", Ray said

"So you decided to play the hero's role here. Two members of the Leo family died while saving the prime minister, and unfortunately, he died with them, so the king won't have a choice other than giving the Leo family his position as a reward for their sacrifice. Intelligent, but how can you be this sure?" Steven said

"Who said I was sure?" Ray said

"Wh..what? Ray, you just killed both of them, how can you do that when you aren't even sure that it would help?" Steven said

"I told you, hundreds of times, that I don't care how far I would go to bring peace to this family, and by this family I mean my mother, father, Azora, and their offspring", Ray said calmly, then he put his hands in his pockets and kept walking, leaving Steven to fall under the pressure of one question, (is he a man who is willing to sacrifice anything for the safety of his family, or is he a mare monster?)
