Chapter 15

Dimitri POV*

After I gave Hazel one of my guns I went downstairs to go open the door. Before opening the door I checked to make sure my gun was loaded. I then opened the door prepared to shoot. But when I opened the door I was shocked to see my father and mother standing at the door bags in hand. "What are you doing here?" I asked aiming my gun at my father's head. He let out a sigh and pushed past me with his bags stepping inside the house. My mother followed close behind. "I asked you a question," I said closing the door. My father turned and looked at me " Parents cant come to see their son?" I looked at him then turned to my mom "Hello son" she said with a smile. I stared at the two for a moment "You know where the rooms are" I said as I turned around and walked back to my room.

Next Morning:

I woke up to the smell of bacon and toast. I reached over to grab Hazel but she was gone. It then registered in my mind that she was the one cooking. I got out of bed to go downstairs. I didn't tell mom and dad about Haze because they could sometimes be rude. When I walked into the kitchen, my dad was sitting at the kitchen table reading a newspaper, my mom was on her phone and Haze was cooking breakfast. I didn't understand what was going on they were acting strange. I went up to Haze and kissed her on her cheek as she cooked breakfast "Good Morning Beautiful" "Good Morning" she said as she kissed me back. I went over to the kitchen table and sat down between my mother and father. Once I sat down my mother then turned off her phone and turn towards me "Good Morning" she said as she placed her hand on mine and gave me a light smile. I looked at her strangely she never touched me as a kid the only time she touched me was when she was dragging me into my room after I disturbed one of her book clubs. I looked down at her hand on mine then I looked back up at her "What do you want?" I asked as I moved my hand from under hers "Money?" I asked after I said that she looked at me with sadness in her eyes. My parents never truly cared about me they were always gone or they were on their phone or reading the newspaper all the time. The maids were the ones who really took care of me they feed me and bathed me and read me bedtime stories before bed. Once I became a teen that's when my parents got worse they were never around at that time they were always on business trips or on vacation but they always managed to send me money so I could take care of myself. During my teen years that's when I tried my best to act out so they could come home I would get into fights but they never came I even once in chemistry made an explosive mixture and burned the classroom down lucky no one died or got injured. After that I was kicked out of school, Afterwards, there was nothing else I could do to get their attention that's when I decided I would join a gang. That gang became my new family I made friends and the gang leader and his wife became my new parents and I became the son they never had. They didn't make me do anything dangerous because I was young so they just made me clean the guns. But once I turned 18 that's when they started making me do more things that were more dangerous because they said they wanted me to run the gang since the wife couldn't get pregnant. They started making me sell drugs at first then it turned into beating people than killing. Next thing you know I was ready to lead a gang It was perfect timing because the gang leader and his wife had then been killed by their rival gang. The gang didn't know that they had someone ready to take the thrown. I then became the most successful gang there was. I started making ten times the amount of money than the old gang leader. I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard Haze clear her throat. Haze was done cooking and everyone had their food sitting in front of them looking at me. "Son your father and me have got ourselves in some trouble and we need your help," My mom said as she took a bite of her toast. I looked at my mom then I looked at my father they were both looking at me waiting for an answer. Part of me wanted to send them packing and part of me wanted to help them and to show them that I was different from them. I then looked at Haze who was looking at me as she ate her breakfast. I then looked at my parents one last time before I began eating " I'll think about it" Is all I said as I began to eat my breakfast.
