Chapter 29 Keeping Up Appearances

Sandra asked, "Really?"

Sandra's eyes lit up. She was excited.

"My brother slapped Esther and sent her away. Can you really resolve this conflict?"

"He slapped Esther?"

Abner was startled. Sonia didn't mention that.

His relationship with Roland wasn't close. In fact, since he couldn't do anything about Roland's illness, the Almond family was discontent.

If it was just a quarrel, Abner believed that the Almond family would give him face.

But Esther was slapped...

She was Roland's most beloved granddaughter. Slapping her was offending Roland. Abner couldn't resolve it.

"Mr. Cooper, any problem?"

"Alas."

Abner had made the promise, so he had to do it no matter what it cost.

Abner laughed, patted his chest, and said, "Sandra, who do you think I am? Everyone in New York has to show me some respect."
