Chapter 4

Adele gave her the water and went to have dinner. She was quite distracted and did not even respond properly when someone tried to chat with her.

Adele could still hear her heart pounding against her chest, she had been so scared at that time. She still got chills when she remembered that moment. After seeing the shadow when she turned around there was no one else but she noticed a large plant shaking vigorously while the rest around it was still.

She was cent percent sure that someone was hiding behind the plant, she kept on thinking why someone would follow her or why they would hid instead of coming in front of her . She thought to be more careful and not to go alone at late nights from now.

Next day at college few seniors came to Adele to ask whether she was interested to join any cultural clubs.

"Sorry, I am not, "Adele declined politely as she did not want to waste her time on unnecessary stuff.

"You have going to miss an amazing experience."

"It's going to be so fun, not only it's a chance to showcase your talent but also make new friends."

The two girls tried to convince Adele but she did not change her decision.

After the class she was in the cafeteria having a sandwich when Myra called her.

"Do you have any part time job, "Myra questioned.

"Not yet, I filled the application two days back but still have not heard from anyone, "Adele replied.

"Today evening it's the birthday of the girl I tutor, I had agreed to volunteer but sadly my fever has not gone completely, so I don't want to contaminate anyone. I thought of asking you first ,only if you refuse will I consider other girls in the orphanage,"Myra stated.

In fact all the girls in the orphanage did one or the other part time jobs to earn extra money .Myra was a private tutor to middle grade kids ,their families were quite rich and held lavish birthday parties in expensive hotels .

"I am not so great with kids, I don't know whether I will fit the role, "Adele hesitated.

"You are not alone there, other volunteers are there to help you. Also not all the kids are naughty, you just need to have a bit patience then everything will be sorted,"Myra did not give up.

"But..,"Adele was interrupted by Myra.

"The pay is so good, its xxxx .Think about it, you can easily have your one month college expenses ,"Myra stated.

Hearing the amount even Adele's eyes widened in shock, they were paying so much for one night. Looks like the parents were very loaded, the life of rich kids was something else. Adele agreed and told Myra to forward the location and timings.

"If you encounter any problem, give me a call," Myra said before cutting the call.

Few seconds later her phone beeped, Adele opened the message and checked the distance to the venue. She did not notice that someone had come and sat next to her.

When Adele lifted her head to take a bite of the sandwich she noticed Hudson sitting next to her.

"Do you need anything ", Adele asked.

"Can't I just come to talk with you ", Hudson smiled.

Adele was someone who was gentle and soft spoken ,it gave others the impression that it is easy to get along with her .But it was also true that she was suborn and a private person. So even in her entire 18 years it was good to say that Myra was her only friend.

Adele pressed her lips tightly and did not say anything .May be Hudson got the hint but he acted like Adele was enthusiastic to see him.

"I am seeing you are eating a sandwich from so long, aren't you hungry or you are dieting,"Hudson sipped the juice in his hand.

"Not hungry, "Adele replied as she wiped her hand with the tissue.

"Well I am quite hungry, keep me company, "Hudson suggested.

"I need to go somewhere, "Adele got up.

"Wait a bit, I can drop you later, "Hudson offered a ride.

"No thanks, "Adele walked away from there before Hudson could utter another word.

The hotel was far from the college, she changed two busses to reach the destination. At the entrance the reception took Adele's ID card and enquired her.

After Adele told she is Myra's replacement, she received all instructions regarding the party and they also gave her new clothes to change.

The party was based on a theme, the decoration, food and ambience was on a much larger scale than she anticipated .It looked more like a high profile event than a kid's birthday party.

Adele changed into a pink shirt and black skirt, after putting light make up and tying her hair into a sleek ponytail she went to serve juice to the kids.

The event went smoothly except a few kids who threw such tantrums that it was impossible to control them. They created mess but all the staff somehow managed not letting the event get ruined. Adele was quite happy and quickly went to change her dress.

Adele went backstage as she wanted to change her dress and return the uniform to them. Unfortunately the dressing room was occupied and few were waiting outside.

She looked at her watch, there was still twenty minutes to catch the bus. Since that was the last bus ,if she missed it would be difficult to reach orphanage .The girl suggested that there may be empty washrooms upstairs where she could go if she was getting late.

Adele did not waste a second and quickly climbed the stairs, only when she reached there did she notice that's it's a night club.

It was too dark with only few neon lights, loud music and unruly men speaking vulgarly while drinking alcohol.

She hesitated to step inside the hall but as her eyes fell on the watch, she gritted her teeth and went to find the washroom.
