Chapter 6: Drastic Changes

(Eleven Years Later)

It was a sunny, day outside. The date was, Sunday July 3rd, 2005. Jenny lay in her blue bed, staring at the ceiling. Her brain was floating off, thinking about what had been happening to her past, and what had been transpiring to her a lot, previously. Ever since she neared her sixteenth birthday strange things have been going on with her body. Not just her period but other things as well. Some mornings she would wake up at three am, feeling overheated; sweating all over. Her face would ache like crazy, like her skull was on fire. There were even nights that she felt like running; just running, as if she couldn't ever run enough. These weird sensations always seemed to arise during the night.

She couldn't put a finger on it. She looked around her room at the walls. They were as blue as her blankets, which started dark on the bottom and gradually got lighter towards the top. Her floor was covered in white carpet; across from her bed sat a desk made of birch wood. It was painted white, with blue stripes and on top of it sat all of Jenny's awards in sports. Whilst in school, she played softball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and even wrestling; she was particularly good at this because no matter how big the girl was, she could pin her within seconds, not even knowing how it was even possible.

Perched on the back of the dresser was a big mirror, in the shape of an oval, which was surrounded by a wooden frame. Taped to the reflective glass were a number of family photos, primarily ones of Jenny with her father John. But there was one picture at the very bottom of the mirror, of two people. The person on the right was her mother, but she never knew who the dark haired man was on the left. There was a loud crash outside, followed by disturbing crack and a loud yelp of pain. Jenny got up and bolted to her window, gazing down at the nearby alleyway. Below her, was the pathway that was very narrow. Across the gap stood another set of buildings. Jenny clenched her chest with her right hand, grimacing; she was claustrophobic.

A teenage boy was on the ground, grasping his head. He cried out in pain, staring at his left leg, which was bent almost at a ninety degree angle. He was very short, with brown hair, a gorilla-like face and long gangly arms. He wore light brown shorts, white shirt and sandals. His mouth was bleeding, and shin almost ripped through his skin. "What happened?!" Jenny asked him. He looked up at her, staring into her turquoise eyes, and smooth skinned face. "I-I tried to hit my brakes but the tires skidded and I smashed right into the… Ugh; the corner of the dumpster. Then I flew straight over the bike, with my right foot caught in the handle, and it snapped… in; in half." He grimaced, crying hard.

Jenny felt so bad for him, so she started fumbling with her hair, trying to stop the shaking in her hands. "Do you have a person I can call?" She asked. "Y-yeah! My mom's number is 215…83…33." He replied. "Alright, what is your name?" "B-Billy Jones." "You go to school with me, don't you?" He nodded. "Okay Billy, I'll call your mom, just try to not move too much! " Jenny told him. "Th… Thanks Jenny!" She felt shocked that he knew her name, and smiled in return. Sitting on the dresser top was her neon green cell phone. She picked it up, quickly dialing the number. "Okay, 215… 8333…" she said shakily. Her arms jolted so badly. She ran her left hand through her hair; her face mixed into confusion and worry.

"Hello?" a soft voice asked. "Yes, um is t-this Mrs. Jones?" Jenny said with a worried voice. She nearly started crying due to Billy's yelps. She hated seeing people in that type of agony. "Yes it is, may I ask who is calling and why?" She replied. Jenny took a deep breath and exhaled. "It's about Billy…" "What? What's wrong with my Billy?" she asked, beginning to sound worried as well. "He; He's gotten into a bike accident. He's in the alleyway, just behind my house. His…his leg is severely broken and he's bleeding from the mouth. I heard the crash so I immediately talked to him so I could calm him down and asked for someone to call; he gave me your number."

"Where do you live?" Mrs. Jones replied. "Umm… It's 547, Clearwood Avenue." Jenny said. "I'll be right there; thank you… What is your name?" Mrs. Jones asked. "I'm Jennifer Warburton ma'am." There was a slight moment's pause then Mrs. Jones responded. "Thank you for calling me, you've done the right thing. I'll be there within five minutes." Jenny sighed with relief. "Alright he's in the alleyway behind my house." Jenny told her. "Right, thank you!" With that Mrs. Jones hung up.

Jenny set her phone down, placing both hands palm down on the smooth wood. Her heart was beating fast; faster than normal. She could barely breath, so she clenched her chest again, trying to force more air into her lungs. She looked into the mirror, seeing her worried face staring back. Her lips were thin and she had above average sized cheeks, low cheekbones, big eyes, and a slightly widened nose. Her ears were abnormally big, not enormous, but bigger than the other girls'. Her teeth were tiny and still wrapped in braces, (she had just gotten them on a year ago). Her shirt was red, with a white long sleeved shirt underneath it; matching her red pants with white Addidas pants. Her shoes were red as well with white trims. She turned sideways, holding her hands over her stomach, as pain rushed through it.

Her head felt so heavy, and eyes ached. "I feel so hot; what's wrong with me?" Jenny asked, gazing back at her eyes. The usual turquoise irises looked different this time. There were tiny yellow specs that began to show up out of nowhere. She ran her hands over her chest, disgusted by how much flatter she was compared to the other kids, both front and back. She was sixteen and felt inferior compared to the other girls. The other girls in her grade had already matured fully. Here she stood, not a single physical feature to impress the guys. The other abnormal thing was that Jenny was a lot taller than the others. Her hands were longer, and her feet were as well. She stood at five feet, ten inches. The other girls were all around five foot, four; five foot, five.

"Why am I so ugly? Why can't I have a perfect figure like the other girls?" Tears were threatening to dump out of her eyes, as they formed in her tear ducts. She jumped over to her bed, clenching a pillow, allowing the loud sobs to escape through it. After minutes have passed, she was looking into the ceiling again, gasping even harder; as air was escaping her once again. "Where are you Mom?" she whispered to herself. Her cell phone rang on her dresser, so she groaned and got up to answer it. The person who called was her father, so she picked it up. "What's up dad?" Jenny asked, wiping her eyes. "What's wrong Jenny?" he asked her with a consoling voice.

"N-nothing dad, I'm just thinking that's all." John knew well that what his daughter was saying wasn't true, so he pushed on it. "Seriously Jenny, I know damn well what you've been doing. You're on another self loathing run aren't you?" he asked. Jenny stood up and walked back towards the dresser, wiping her eyes as she did. She sniffed, and sighed loudly, clenching her hand on the edge of her dresser, and staring at her feet. Her lips quivered bad, trembling from all the sorrow that took over her. "Jenny, you have to stop going on this fits of loathing, it's just not healthy for you." He said in a calming voice. "I-I know dad; I know" she replied, wiping her eyes once again. Her heart was beating so hard and fast, that it made her throat sore.

"D-dad, can I ask y-you something?" Jenny said. "Of course Jen, what is it?"

She got lost in thought, trying to figure a good way to bring what has been happening to her across to him. "There's something wrong with me dad!" she started, feeling the pain eating away at her soul. "What do you mean honey?" he asked. There was a sense of despair in his voice and worry as well. "There's been so much going on with me lately." She stopped for a second to breath then continued, after falling onto her bed. "I feel agonizing pain coursing my stomach and skull every time I turn around, and on top of all that; I am questioning how I am so good at all these sports. I mean, I know that I work out and all, but I'm over dominating Dad! I destroy every sport I'm a part of. That's just not normal!"

John sighed deeply, allowing some seconds to slide by then answered. "Jen, it's hard to explain alright? But I bet it's time you know, since you are almost sixteen. Tonight; meet me in the basement alright?" he asked. "But why dad?" Jenny replied. "Just trust me honey. I will explain in better detail later. Be in the basement at nine thirty tonight. I'll be there as soon as I can. I love you Jen; see you then." With that John hanged up on her. Jenny stared at her cell phone, with such annoyance. She wanted answers now. "I want to know now!" she wailed, tossing her phone onto her bed and jumping onto it as well.

When she sank her face deeply into her blankets, her mind raced with one thought after another. Some thoughts were of full moons, others were of bloody people groveling for their lives at her claws. "Claws?" Jenny asked herself. Her eyes flew open at this thought, followed by heat coursing her entire body. She continued to scream, latching onto her head, groaning as fire licked at the inside of her skull. She could feel something moving around in her muscles, making them pulse under her skin. When Jenny tried to walk, her feet cracked and moved around making her lose her balance. When she got to the mirror once again, she noticed her eyes were turning more yellow. She grimaced, looking at them and almost screamed again when she saw that her canines were growing longer.

Both of her hands snapped painfully. Her eyes were in shock again, and mouth open with horror. They were beginning to triple in size, turning into large claws. Then she feinted, crashing onto the floor, and losing all of her current thoughts. She hadn't even heard Billy being picked up by his mother, whom seemed keen on leaving the house after hearing all of Jenny's fits of screams. While she was knocked out, her body shrank back to normal, and stopped moving. Her brain raced with bad dreams; one with her howling at a full moon, and blood pouring from her mouth. Another shot by, this time she was grunting so loud that she shuddered. She was growing bigger and stronger, ripping through her clothes. Then the dream dissolved, quickly turning into another.

This time Jenny stood, staring at kids; all of which were pleading for mercy at her enormous feet, and asking for her to spare them. She had no remorse in her mind as she swung at their heads. "NOOO!" Jenny screamed, snapping her eyes open, and sitting up quickly. She rubbed her face, pulling her upper lip up to check her teeth. They felt normal again, so she jumped to her feet and looked into the mirror. Her eyes weren't yellow anymore which made her feel more at rest. Something new struck her attention. She wasn't a flat chest anymore. In fact, her breasts had doubled in size. Jenny looked at herself in the mirror, turning side to side, while taking in her newly formed chest. When she smiled, she noticed that her lips were thicker as well. It took nearly a minute for Jenny to figure out that her butt had grown as well. "My God!" she said, grabbing a hold of the thick muscle.

Excitement as well as fear coursed Jenny's mind, as she ran her hands all over her newly formed body. "Wow! I mean; God dang!" Jenny said, gazing at herself. She was absolutely beautiful now and would knock the other girls out of the park. Something felt weird in Jenny's mouth, like her teeth were growing. At first it was a slight feeling but then the braces strained against her teeth. She fell onto the dresser, grunting in so much pain. Her teeth were growing at an alarming speed now, putting even more stress on the metal that held them straight.

Within a minute they were snapping through one tooth at a time, until the blood covered metal fell into her outstretched hands. "Oh my… G-God." She gasped. Jenny now had a perfect smile, but that's when worry struck her harder than a ton of bricks. "How; how is this even possible?" she asked herself. "Why is this happening to me?" Jenny couldn't stop staring at her body, dumbfounded by all that had transpired over the last few minutes. No matter how much she turned left to right, the amazement kept getting bigger. She was beautiful now. And on top of these changes, her legs felt thicker too.

There was a crunching from outside, indicating that her dad was pulling into the driveway. The insurmountable dread filled her from head to toe now. She didn't even want to begin to think what he would say when he saw her walk downstairs with these changes. Then the thought of Billy hit her. Her eyes snapped open and she quickly walked to the window. But he was gone, as well as his bike. I'm so sorry Billy; I didn't mean to forget you. She thought. "Jenny, are you awake?!" John yelled upstairs. He set his keys down as well as his briefcase then began his ascent up the stairs.

Each small creak made Jenny feel nervous, because she knew he was closer to discovering her. "Um… D-dad, I'm not decent." Jenny replied, placing her back against her door. She could feel him knocking at it now, calling to her through the wood. "Jenny, we need to talk now. Please come downstairs; I'll be in the basement, but I need to know you're coming." He replied. "Y-yeah Dad, I'm on my way down now!" "Okay, I'll be waiting." She heard him begin descending the stairs, and sighed in a brief moment of relief.

Jenny, at this point was so confused. How am I going to explain this to dad? I can't just blame these changes on a raging metabolism. She thought. "Are you coming Jen?!" John called upstairs again. "YES DAD!" she yelled back. "Alright then, come on!" Jenny sighed one last time, then mustered up the courage to exit her door, and prepared for the worst; as she stood at the top of her stairs. Her mind raced from one thought to the next, then prepared herself for the information that was going to come to her soon.
