Chapter 47: A Mother's Touch

Though they had decided to not do the traditional wedding thing, Shayla felt even further from a blushing bride than she had before they changed the plans.
She felt as if something was wrong with her and she couldn't be the woman she was supposed to, or that Evan deserved.
There she goes again, wanting to flee. Wanting to push Evan away. Why did she keep doing this to him and to herself? For whatever reason, she just couldn't get on board with the fact that, she too, deserved happiness.
It was Monday. Evan had already left for work. She was slowly getting herself ready. She wasn't enthralled about all the wedding questions she knew she had to face from coworkers once she got there.
