Chapter 42: Three's a Crowd and Thirty is Chaos

Shayla's stomach growled as Evan drove them to Liam's for dinner.

"I'm starving. I'm glad we are almost there."

Evan pulled their car into the driveway. There were several other cars parked there as well.

"What's going on?" Hadley asked as he looked up from his hand-held game system.

"I don't know," Shayla said. "Evan?"

"No clue."

"You are lying. Your voice changed." She leaned over and got in his face with hers and he took the opportunity to steal a quick kiss.

"Guess you'll find out," he said.

The three of them exited the car and walked up to the front porch. Shayla didn't even have to ring the bell cause Liam opened it before they even reached the first step.

"Hello! Welcome to your engagement party. Come in and get comfortable. Drinks are being served now."

"You knew about this? I'm glad I dressed up then," Shayla said as she slugged Evan playfully in the arm.

"You would have been beautiful in anything."
