Evan sat on the couch at the house of Ellis while Shayla went to take a shower. He ended up getting lost in his thoughts and found himself once again at their beginning. Not the beginning where she lost her mother. That memory was one they were both trying to put behind them.
No, he was lost in the thought of seeing her at school for the first time and the high school moments they shared. How his love blossomed, and she continually fought hers.
He chuckled.
It was odd to think that so many years after he had fallen in love with her, she flew across the country to save his life. Something he couldn't have imagined then. Something he was grateful for now. He honestly didn't know where he would be without her. And though he loved this blended, beautiful family he found himself in, he couldn’t wait to start one of their own.
