Chapter 2

"Aaaahhhh!!!"

I screamed and sat up. My pyjamas was soaked with sweat and I was panting like I just came back from a marathon race. My heart was racing and my breath was ragged. The door to my room flew open and it was Mom and Patrick.

"Baby!" She drew me into a hug stroking my head and saying soothing words.

"Is it the same nightmare?" she asked with her face filled with concern and worry. I have been having nightmares since I clocked 22 and I often end up screaming when I wake up or I'm shaking terribly that Mom has to jerk me to wake up. I really don't know what all these is about. Wyatt joked about it saying maybe I'm connected to a supernatural world which I think he's right. I keep seeing different things like a wolf chasing me or a super handsome guy who I have never seen before giving me deadly glares and asking me 'why I ruined his life?' and I experience terrible mood swings like someone is controlling my moods and it's mostly anger, bitterness and a deep resentment to something. This is driving me insane because I don't know what to do. Patrick handed me a glass of water and I took a sip. They stayed with me till I was stable enough and they left to prepare for work. I didn't tell Mom what tonight's own was about but it wasn't like any other one because it was very strange and I was still scared. I found myself in a forest in clear daylight and I didn't even know how I get there. it's like the usual spot I meet myself in my nightmares and the surroundings have become so familiar. Suddenly,I heard a whimper. I had to be sure my ears weren't playing tricks on me until I heard it again. Clear and loud. I recognized it and it sounded like an injured animal. I traced the sound and I saw it. It was a wolf again but this time,it wasn't the ones I see in my dreams. This one was white. A white wolf whose whiteness was stained with blood. It was in severe pain and it just laid there waiting for any help to come. It was so vulnerable and sympathy washed over me. I know a thing or two about herbs. Thanks to my dad. I found the one I was looking for,grinded it and I placed it on the injured spot. I waited for few minutes for it to work and what happened next gave me a bad shock. The wolf transformed to a human being. It freaking transformed and my first instinct was to run but my legs failed me. It was a woman and she was naked and dirty. She had the same colour of my hair. Black. I don't know what came over me but I really wanted to see her face,at least thank me for the help. Like she read my mind,she turned and I nearly died from shock. The naked wolf woman was ME!. ME!. How on earth is this possible. I didn't know I was moving back slowly till my back hit a tree. I just opened and closed my mouth,I had nothing to say until she...'i' spoke up.

"Hello, Audrey!"

'I' came face to face with me with an incredible fast speed which is definitely not normal. I had a evil smirk on my face like I enjoyed my own confused and shocked face and the next thing I remembered is me screaming out of my sleep. I sighed in frustration, got up and headed to the bathroom. The water calmed my nerves a bit. I dressed up and looked at my day's list. I really needed a distraction and my best friends were coming over, so I have to put this gloomy look away and prepare for our hangout. Wyatt,Maddy and I have been best friends since we were 8. Dr Camille,my personal doctor is Maddy's mom and we frequently see each other anytime I go for therapy and check ups. She was such a bubbly kid and so friendly. Care free like there is nothing to worry about. She was always jumping around and Dr Camille always receives notices from the hospital about her daughter. Everyone knew Dr. Camille's kid and somehow, we became friends. Wyatt on the other hand,has an allergic reaction and he was all red and itchy. My mom being an allergist (sorry.. occupation changed.) was the doctor on duty and I was waiting for her shift to end so we can leave. I remember him crying and begging. I was laughing and my mom shot me stern looks to keep quiet. It was such a funny sight and I still tease him about it. Turns out his mom knows mine and she once sent him to our place for babysitting. The first thing I called him when I saw him was "the itchy cry baby." I didn't stop calling him that name until we turned 10. I still call him that sometimes. I somehow brought the two of them together, we shared a lot of things and boom! we've become best buddies since then. I was still going down memory lane when the door bell sounded. I looked at who it was through the doorbell camera and it was Wyatt standing with a grin. I chuckled and shook my head. I opened the door and went to receive him.

"Hey big head." I gave him a tight hug.

"How are you?"

"Good and dandy. Maddy is running late again so pick a movie. I have to go check on the popcorn." We set things up and I was really glad I had the house to myself, Mom is on a night shift, Patrick travelled for a conference and Kyra is sleeping over at a friend's. We were done setting things up when Maddy entered.

"And the late comer arrives." she gave him a silly look and I chuckled. She was clearly pissed.

"I'm so sorry I'm late. Again. I had to babysit my brother cause the lady who does that was running late and he was really getting on my nerves. He's nine and he's already acting like a jerk." she hissed and stormed into the kitchen.

Wyatt and I shared a look. We know we have to stay away when Maddy is in her 'mood'.

"She's probably stress eating now." he predicted and I slapped his arm and went to join her. She was warming up the leftover pizza.

"Yeah,that reminds me. Patrick called." I stopped what i was doing and turned to face her. Patrick does that shit alot. At first when he and Mom just got married and we weren't getting along, he calls my friends and indirectly tells them to talk to me or buy gifts for them and they are all like 'Oh My God! he is so sweet, he did this, he did that and I was so pissed and told him to back off!. Bribing my friends? it was so low of him.

"what did he say I did again?" She noticed the sacarsm and gave me the same look she gave Wyatt. I threw a popcorn in my mouth as I prepared another round. The three of us are foodies well,just Maddy and I. Wyatt is all about having a perfect body shape and he works out alot and it really shows on him. 'Girls are always swooning when he passes' by according to Mads.

"He just wanted to know if I was still coming. He tried Wyatt number but he wasn't picking. He said something about you needing company. Is everything alright?" He was probably talking about the nightmare. As much as I appreciate the concern,I didn't find it necessary.

"Why won't I be? he's probably worried that I'm going to be lonely" I lied. She didn't buy the lie and didn't press on. I really respect her for that. She feels when I feel like talking, she's just a call away.

Gosh! I feel horrible. I have always told them about my nightmares but this one is new and I haven't really settled with it. I just want to forget what I saw. I will tell them when I feel okay. Emotionally.

"I'm starting the movie without you guys!" Wyatt yelled.

"Don't you dare." Maddy walked out. What will I do without these two in my life.

I smiled and took the popcorns to the living room. I squeezed myself between the two of them and we curled up.

LUCIAN'S POV

"Lucian! I'm still talking to you!" Mother's voice echoed throughout the hall and I stopped in my tracks. I turned and met her angry gaze.

"You better do the needful. This girl is already having dreams and fun fact is she is telling other mundanes about it. I don't think you would want the elders' wrath when they find out. Your two years agreement is almost over and I don't think you want to be overthrown as an Alpha for not wanting a Luna. I'm tired of doing the work your wife is suppose to do and I need my rest."

"You know I don't really get this mate thing. Fine, father made the mistake and I'm bearing the brunt and besides, this girl is a mundane---"

''88 percent mundane. She has your blood in her and soon, she's gonna start craving for raw flesh. Your father and I have done a fine job keeping our world a secret from humans and I won't have your ego blow it up. I'm giving you till the next full moon. Do the needful. I have literally begged you and it seems I'm going to have to use force whether you like it or not."

"I have clearly told you guys that I don't want her. Don't I have a choice here?!" I retorted angrily.

"Don't you dare raise your voice at me and no, you don't. I'm sorry you can't get to choose who you want to spend the rest of your life with but it is something you have to fulfill. It's a must and we wolves keep to agreement." With that, she stormed out of the hall and the guards followed her quickly.

She has really succeeded in ruining my mood. Must I really have a mate before I can be a proper Alpha. For goddess' sake, I have served this people for 2 years now and there hasn't been any issue questioning my ability to serve. Now, it's all about finding a Luna I guess. I left the mansion angrily.
