Chapter 4

Lucas POV

I am in heat. Only after Adam told me, did I know that I was on heat. He was sitting there to protect me from the other alphas, that's what he said.

But to be honest, he is an Alpha too, then how is he resisting this pheromone smell? I wanted to ask him.

"Adam, you can go and rest. I will be fine alone.", I said to him.

"I know what I am doing.", he said angrily.

"Do you need any ice bags/ hot bags?", he asked me.

We will be having this heat cycle once a month. We bleed, similar to all mammals.

Why is he showing so much care for me? This looks so strange. I cannot tolerate changes. And his sudden behavioral change is making me uncomfortable.

But I am in literal pain. My stomach hurts so much. I have heard that after getting marked, you get intense pain during heat if you are mated.

A few minutes after I woke up, I was doing fine, but later on the effect of the mark and my heat combined gave me a hell of pain.

I controlled myself not to cry before Adam, then he would think of me as a weak Omega. Already he hates omegas.

He was sitting in a chair with a book in one hand and his legs over the table. He was sitting in a more reclined pose.

"Adam, You don't need to stay here. I can take care of myself.", I stressed to him this time. Because as soon as he leaves the room, I can cry out all my pain.

"How many times should I have to say to you? I need to stay here. Even I don't like to be here, but only because Laura instructed me to stay here. You got it?"

"Oh, okay", saying so, I turned to the other side of the bed, so he would not notice the pain through my facial features.

I got up from my bed to the washroom. I guess, I made only 3 steps, and then, I fell unconscious on the floor.

"Lucas...Lucas, wake up", someone called me.

"Lucas.....Are you Okay?"

I don't know how I responded, but the other person calling my name was patting my cheeks to make me wake up.

"Who is there?", he called the servants.

"Call the Royal medicals", he shouted.

He splashed some water on my face and made me wake up.

Two doctors came rushing into the room and made me lay on my bed again, checked my vitals, and murmured something to Adam.

My eyes were half opened. What has happened to me? Why am I feeling so tired?

I guess they gave me some sleeping pills and I only remember that I woke up several hours later. Still, Adam was sitting in that chair, but his eyes were fixed on me this time.

The moment I woke up, he rushed towards me and asked me how I was.

"I am good. What happened?", I asked him.

"You fainted due to severe heat.", he said.

"I never get this much pain and bleeding", I informed him.

"That is because you were marked but never had sex, so your heat pattern changes, leading to excess release of the blood"

Laura entered the room after a few hours. "Lucas, how do you feel?", she asked.

"I am fine", I said.

"We were so worried about your condition. Especially Adam was very much worried", she said eying Adam.

"No, I didn't worry", he defended himself.

She laughed saying. "Until you two have sex, Lucas will suffer this much pain during each heat cycle."

For a minute, I got a glimpse of Adam's eyes. He never looked into mine. I noticed he has blue eyes. Laura had purple eyes.

"Adam, can you go out a second?", she requested Adam to go out.

He left the room silently without complaining. Is she going to talk to me alone? I have no idea.

Adam left closing the door. She came near me and sat next to me and took my hands and again felt it the same way she did the first day I saw her.

But she never said what she felt. What is she checking through my hands? Hear beat? Maybe my future?

Out of curiosity, I asked her, "Are you a medic?"

"No"

"Then what do you do by feeling my hand?"

"I can sense the good/bad omen by feeling someone's hand"

"So, now, what did you see? Good or bad?"

She laughed and said, "If I say now, then there would be no excitement when it comes"

I don't know how to react to her answer. Was this a positive or a negative answer?

"Can I ask something?"

"Yeah, go ahead"

"I want to see my friend Andre. Can he visit me?"

"Yes, sure."

"Adam looks like he doesn't give any shit, but he truly cares for the people close to him", she said and smiled.

I was still laying on the bed. She got up from the bed and left the room, and soon Adam came inside.

At night, again my cramps were back. This time I am not feared to cry out my pain. " Adam", I called him.

From his sleeping position, he woke up and came near me. "Adam, I can't tolerate it, I feel like dying. This pain...", I cried.

I clutched his hands tightly and never let them go. He was so confused and doesn't know what to do.

"Lucas...Listen to me carefully, there won't be a next time you suffer this much pain. I promise."

And he stoked my stomach. I felt much better and he implanted a kiss on my stomach.

"I know you are brave. Wait, I will bring you hot bags", saying so, he picked up a hot water bag and placed it over the places, I felt extreme pain.

"How do you feel now?", he asked me.

"Better."

Again, he placed a kiss on my stomach. "Just close your eyes, think that you are just enduring such pain only for our babies."

On listening to him I am crying, but not because of pain, but happiness in the words of Adam.
