Brandon, at that moment, decided to stay silent. He was not going to say a word and let Killian do all the talking. He would get bored, hopefully, and then he would open the door and finally would be out of his office in seconds.
Killian kept eye contact, there was nothing he would rather do and stared at Brandon in odd silence.
Even though Brandon did not know Killian and only had been in his presence for maybe less than an hour in total, he still felt that his boss was thinking about something. That the wheels in his mind were working and not in the way he would be comfortable with.
"Are we ignoring me now? Is that the new game you're playing?" Killian chuckled, "I like that game. May I know the rules to it?"
Game?! Bran was about to open his mouth, but then clamped his lips shut together. No, not a word was coming out of him. And again? He thought that this was some sort of game?
Is that what he thinks about all of this? So this is some kind of game going on in between the two of us?
He wanted to ask, confirm and get the hell out of here, but he could not do either of those three things. Well, he did not want to do the first one, and the other two followed up.
"How long are you planning to stay quiet, Wallace?" Killian tilted his head to the side, challenging him with his eyes.
That's it. " I don't want any part of this. I'm not playing some kind of gang. Open the door and I'm gonna go out. It's already," Brandon checked the time, "it's ten minutes past nine. I cannot afford to be late. Open the goddamn door."
"I will in a bit." Killian said. "Until then, why don't you sit in front of me and answer a few questions of mine?"
"I don't–" his phone vibrated, and Brandon gladly cut himself as he pulled out his phone. It was Megan calling him.
He turned his phone towards Killian. "I need to go or I'm telling her that I'm in your office and she can come and check."
And if it came to work, Megan was definitely coming to check, especially since she had been promoted because her immediate superior had been fired.
"You think you can threaten me?"
Brand was not an idiot to say yes. "Megan will come and check, especially when I'm due to show her what report I was working on."
Killian nodded his hair, like he was understanding everything that Bran said. A click was heard, making Brandon almost jump out of his skin. It took him a second to realize it came from behind him.
"Hold," Killian stopped him from moving, "before you leave, Brandon. Allow me to tell you something, this is not going to be the last time we meet and the next time, you definitely will not be able to escape."
Bran narrowed his eyes at his boss, cursed him thoroughly in his mind before throwing the door open and rushing out of it.
He was free.
