The next day could have come sooner. Brandon still felt tired from the little conversation he had with Archer.
Fuck, he ran a hand over his face, he was done with the day already and the hours had just begun.
"You okay?" The guy in the next cubicle asked him.
"Ye—"
"You have not got the flu or something. Right? I can't be sick."
Well, and for once I thought someone was concerned. Brandon wanted to roll his eyes but resisted that particular urge. "No, I'm not sick. I'm just tired."
The co-worker, whose name he never bothered to notice did not look entirely convinced, but he went back to his work. Albeit, he did end up skirting his chair away.
With one last tired sigh, he ran his hands over his eyes and started focusing back on the job. This project was going to go on for a long time and they needed to focus on short budgeting, which brand was focusing on.
Almost 2 hours later, he was done. It was close to lunchtime, so Brandon decided that that was what he was going to do. He went towards Megan's office, knocking on the door and entering after she allowed him in.
"I checked the budget and made some changes. It needs your approval before I can send them over to the purchase department."
Megan gave him a tight nod. "Sure, give them here, and I'll check them."
Brandon did as she told him, all the while casting an eye on her desk. Megan, from what he assumed, had a slight OCD or some kind of tendency where she always kept everything quite neatly. To see her table being such a mess, it indicated her state of mind to him.
He wanted to pursue the topic, given that she was one of the people who had treated him like he was human but did not know how to approach the subject while not scaring her away.
"What if you thought of lunch?" He asked instead. That's a safe idea.
She looked around, appearing to be a little embarrassed when she noticed her table. Megan clicked her fingernails on the table and licked her lips. "I.. Uh, I haven't thought of it yet. Are you going to lunch after this?"
"I am, yes." Bran answered. "Would you like to come with me? I don't have enough for the both of us, but we can surely grab a good burger or a New York style pizza slice."
There was a chance that she would say no, the probability of that happening was much higher, and Brandon was prepared to receive the answer. Megan was not his friend, so he accepted his offer, it was good for them, and if she did not, it was good for her. He had his lunch and he would go and eat it quietly in the cafeteria if he said no.
Megan still looked confused. "Burgers do sound good." She muttered before looking in the mess of the table. "I do not think I can come—"
"It is just a burger. A burger that's going to make you feel good, it's going to fill you up and outing is going to refresh your mind." He cut her off. "Do you want to think about it again?"
Megan leaned back in her chair. Only this time, she had another expression on her face that was less confused. " Okay, I think I can make time for one burger."
Brandon smiled. "One burger, it is then."
