Chapter Ten

Classes began and homecoming coming soon. Stacey on the other hand was quite tired. She stayed up really late playing her cello. Stacey was feeling down since her mother told her that they will be staying with their father for Christmas break. Jace wasn't faze by it, he was really happy he had friends to talk to.

Jace goes to class and sat next to Caden as usual. Caden said hi and did his work. For some reason he didn't talk much and when Jace asked him if he was ok, Caden would just nod. Jace just shrugs it off a he does his work.

Stacey was in study hall doing a story essay that was due in two days. She was hoping that she has it done tomorrow. But her head was somewhere else, so she couldn't focus. Brett was in her study hall but he never noticed her until now. he got up and sat next to her, he was quiet for awhile and couldn't think of anything to say. Stacey didn't notice Brett she was just typing away.

"Hey Stacey." Brett said having confidence.

"Hi..Brett, what's up. I didn't know you were in this study hall."

"Yeah I'm pretty quiet. " He said. "Whata working on?"

"A story essay, I'm kinda finished it. Even though I started this morning."

"Oh wow fun." Brett takes out a book.

"Yes it is." Stacey didn't know what to say to him so she continued her essay.

Brett also didn't know what to say but he kept looks at her.

Hours later, classes after class Jace bumps into Brina. She asked a lot of questions, Jace didn't mind it but wasn't used to it. He ask a couple of questions about her. Brina smiled and answered them as they head to Stacey table.

"Cece, meet Brina." Jace said introducing her.

"Oh hi..I'm Stacey." She smiles softly.

Brina smiled back nervous, "Nice to meet you." She goes back to her table.

Jace waves bye at Stacey and follows Brina. Stacey shrugs and goes back to eating. Jax and Cory saw Brina then looks at each other. Jax quickly sat down next to Stacey as Cory just sat down normally.

"Why were you talking to Brina?" Jax asked.

"Jace just wanted to meet her." She explained

"So Jace is sitting with Caden ex?" Cory jumped into the conversation. "Oh that's why he isn't talking."

Jax looks at Cory shaking his head, "No Cor.." He eats his food, ignoring Cory.

Stacey didn't want to know their business so she goes to throw out her trash and goes on her phone. Jax notices and taps Cory shoulder. He looks at Jax as he points to Stacey, Cory shrugs and continues to eat. Jax sighs and taps his shoulder again pointing at Stacey again. Once again Cory looks at her and waves, Stacey waves back.

"Stacey you ok?" Jax asked looking at her then at Cory.

"Ohhhh...I knew that..." He said.

Stacey looks at them confused, "I'm good, what about you guys?"

"We are good also." Jax smiled

Nolan comes by the table and sat down. He was just checking up ok everyone, then saw Stacey face looking down.

"Stac you good?" Nolan ask

"Yes I am." She bluntly said. Stacey keeps hearing the same thing since this morning non stop. "By the way, I'm coming to homecoming."

Nolan smiles greatly, "Wow..amazing." He then sat down next to Cory. "Umm? Where is Caden?" Nolan looked around not seeing him.

"Stuff.." Jax said. "And now Jace is friends with Brina, Primrose and Kenna." he added.

"You mean Caden ex, oh cool. Stacey did you hear that?"

Stacey was in space, not paying attention to anything. She was just focuse on her phone. Jace looks at Stacy worried but wasn't sure what to do, so he just continued to talk to his friends.

"Stac? What's going on?" Nolan snapped his fingers in front of her face.

"Huh? Oh ya..got to go. See you guys later?" She smiled as she goes to her class.

Nolan looks at Cory and Jax like they did something. Then Brett comes to sit down, not knowing what's going on. Jax shrugs and Cory looks away from Nolan.

"What the hell is going on?" Brett said straightforward.

"I don't know ask Jax." Nolan said

"I didn't do anything...Stacey wasn't talking so it's not our fault." Jax said defending himself.

"She didn't look good.." Cory added.

"Oh..well then please stop blaming each other okay." Brett said.

Hours later Brett was waiting for Caden outside the school. They have a project together, even though he's not excited about it. Jace was also waiting for Stacey, he pacing back and forth as he waits. Kenna saw Jace and talks to him for a bit, they laugh together. Caden walks towards Brett, but Caden saw Kenna and was surprised that Jace was friends with her. He shrugs it off and walks with Brett to his house.

"Jace you ready?" Stacey said passing him as she walks home.

"Oh ummm...sorry Kenna. Talk to you later?" Jace says as he trying to catch up with Stacey.

"Yes, sounds like a plan." Kenna smiles softly.

Stacey and Jace talked while going home as they got there and heads inside, they saw their father. Which Stacey wasn't glad about, Jace on the other hand has mixed emotions.

"Dad.." They both said.
