There are several types of psychiatric hospitals.

The geriatrics or rehabilitation departments of this kind of psychiatric hospital provide nursing home functions, caring for some dementia patients, helping with eating, defecating, and urinating.
The mental illnesses of the elderly are complex.
They include cognitive decline due to aging as well as mental illnesses caused by physical reasons. It's hard enough to maintain existing functions, let alone treat them.
