Better With a Frown

Mr. and Mrs. Long rushed to the hospital and as expected they were heartbroken when they saw their only daughter's cold body covered with a thin piece of clothing. No mother and father wished to bury their children so the whole time when Tian Zi, Chendong, and Laura talked to them, they were both crying in sorrow. They heard the news about Remi and Fyre for the past weeks and they were glad that both their children were doing great.

All this time, they didn't try to pressure the two to come back home because as parents, they didn't want to burden their children with their poor background but they never thought this was going to happen especially when Remi called them days ago that she was going to come home and she will be bringing Fyre with her.

But earlier, they just received a call that Remi had been caught in an accident and died? That's just too much to bear. Alas, there's nothing they could do about it but accept reality and try to move on. Along with that is the fact that Fyre still refused to see them personally. It broke their heart furthermore but both Mr. and Mrs. Long are very understanding parents so no matter how saddened they were, they respected Fyre's decision. Additionally, they both knew that Fyre was very close to his sister so knowing that Remi had died, the poor Omega must've been feeling the same as them, perhaps much worse.

In the end, there's not much they could do about it except asking for a simple request. No matter how shameless it may seem of them, they could only ask Tian Zi, Chendong, and Laura to take good care of their son during his pain and to pass on a message that whenever he was ready, both of them have their arms wide open for him when he comes back. They weren't the greatest parents in terms of providing but they have raised both Remi and Fyre with love and care. They gave them everything they could and taught them what was morally right and wrong. They've raised them mentally and physically strong so they believe Fyre can move on from this just like how they will try to move on as well.

With that said, because the whole situation was an accident, there was no need to open a case to the court. Mr. and Mrs. Long learned about the whole accident and wished to pay a visit to Jonathan but since the Alpha was still unconscious due to his surgery, they decided that it was best to do otherwise. Their daughter has now died, there was nothing that connected them to the nobleman so instead, they asked Tian Zi to pass on a message once more, just a simple thank you for taking good care of their daughter and loving her even though it was just a short while.

That day, Mr. and Mrs. Long decided to have the funeral in their hometown so they made arrangements to have Remi's body taken back home. The funeral would last a week, this would give time for all friends and relatives to pay their respects and to also allow time for all necessary papers before her body was laid to rest.

Four days after the accident. Fyre was still admitted to the hospital due to his recent alarming behavior. He wasn't eating and sleeping properly. He was showing signs of extreme depression and that was slowly taking a toll on his already small body. Everyone already visited him trying to make him feel a little better but it was all useless. It's like he completely shut himself and no one could ever get through him as he was unresponsive most of the time.

Tian Zi was very worried and chose not to leave the Omega's side for as long as he could. He was even tempted to call upon a psychiatrist to help the Omega cope up but he decided not to because he didn't want the situation to worsen although he promised himself that once this got out of hand, he would quickly call upon someone. Thankfully, even though the Omega was currently emotionally unstable, he would still try to eat a little and would still manage to rest after many hours of silently crying.

"Ohh, is he asleep? I brought more fruits for the two of you to snack on. Daniel and Ian prepared it for Fyre since they couldn't come and visit today." Laura chanted softly not wanting to wake up the Omega. Walked in with her were her helpers each carrying a bug basket of fruits and upon signal one of them headed to place one to the table. Actually, there's still more food from the last time but Tian Zi didn't complain and instead just greeted his mother by kissing her on both of her cheeks.

"I managed to force him to eat a little so now he's resting." Tian Zi replied, lowering his voice as well.

"That's good... Anyway, I'll just quickly visit Jonathan's room and drop the other basket as well." Laura said with a faint smile. Unfortunately, Jonathan has yet to wake up from his coma. This was big news but the Woods decided to keep it from coming out in public because it would be a huge scandal if people knew the nobleman got caught in an accident with his girlfriend, who had now died while he was still in comatose. Of course, people already know that Jonathan was in a relationship or in an affair due to him already having a rumored fiancé but it would be a huge scandal if people also discovered that the young Alpha also got into an accident with the said girlfriend.

"I'll go with you then. Fyre won't wake up until later so I'll visit him by then." Tian Zi said to which Laura replied with a simple nod. Soon after the two left silently leaving Fyre peacefully sleeping. Jonathan's room was a little further ahead after one turn but it wasn't that far that the two along with Laura's helpers quickly arrived. However, as they reached Jonathan's room, they suddenly heard a commotion from the inside and when they got inside, the first one they saw was Margarette on the floor while two nurses tried to calm Jonathan down from rampaging.

"Oh my goodness, what happened?" Laura asked worriedly, helping Margarette on her feet.

"This devious woman must be lying! Remi isn't dead yet! She's just telling me this because she's desperate to marry into my family. Your lies will never work on me… It might work against the rest of my family but not me, Margarette!" Jonathan yelled furiously. His threatening voice filled the whole room, shocking everyone especially Margarette who had never seen Jonathan this angry before. She may not have loved Jonathan but it still hurts being rejected, being seen as manipulative, clingy, and obsessive. All of them have circumstances and she was just also only trying to survive in hers.

"Jonathan, calm down. You just woke up from your surgery, we can talk properly if you're no longer yelling and putting your body in too much strain." Tian Zi sighed, wondering how a patient who has one broken leg and arm and has not woken up for four days still managed to struggle and give two nurses trouble in restraining him.

"Zi! Has this woman brainwashed you as well? How can you believe that Remi has died?? Don't make me laugh! We were going to try and fix our relationship. She was going to give me another chance... but this woman! I'm sure they've forced Remi to stay away… Maybe blamed all of this on her!" Jonathan continued to yell furiously but this time, his tears started streaming down that made Tian Zi unable to reply. Jonathan experienced the accident first hand and the Alpha should know how serious the impact was but he still refused to believe reality despite knowing full well that Remi's death was a possible outcome. The last of his memories was Remi's bloody figure being crushed by their dented vehicle due to the impact of the collision it received. Unlike him who still managed to stay conscious, Remi had fainted and blood kept dripping from her mouth, nose, and even head.

"Alexander, I know you don't like me but your lover is dead! If you don't want to accept that then that's not my problem anymore!" Margarette said in an outburst before she quickly walked out of the room leaving the Alpha yelling her name for what she said.

Thankfully by this time, the nurses finally managed to restrain him and injected him with sedatives. It only took seconds and the once yelling Alpha began to fall asleep, mumbling his lover's name. Because of the short commotion, Tian Zi decided that it was better for him to let his friend rest for now. Laura also decided to go back since she really just went to the hospital to drop the fruits and check on the patients briefly.

"I'll leave everything to you again today, Xiao Zi... I believe everything will be fine once Jonathan calms down. I've also already asked someone to inform Marjorie so for now just help both your friends from this unfortunate event, endure it a little longer."

"Yes, Mother. I also want nothing but for them to get better." Tian Zi replied before they finally separated. After seeing Laura off, he also headed back to Fyre's room where he didn't expect the Omega to be already awake and just staring at an empty space. He slowly closed the door behind him and walked a little deeper inside. When he saw tears slip out from Fyre's glistening eyes, he sighed and neared his bed.

"Didn't I tell you to stay asleep? You'll really ruin your health if you keep on being this way." Tian Zi softly said, sitting on Fyre's bed while he wiped the tears with his thumb. Meanwhile, Fyre didn't reply. He tried to sleep but he couldn't. He keeps having nightmares about Remi's accident even though he wasn't there when it happened. His older sister kept calling his name and sometimes even blamed him for her death even though Fyre knew full well that it wasn't. But every time he tried to sleep, it's what he sees and hears and slowly he was starting to believe it despite not wanting to.

"*sigh* You know, Jonathan finally woke up today..." Tian Zi informed, seeing the Omega not replying to him as always but to his surprise, Fyre seemed like he was interested knowing Jonathan had finally woken up so he continued talking.

"Margarette told him that Remi's no longer with us but he couldn't accept it. In the end, the nurses had to give him sedatives and he's now sleeping." Tian Zi finished. He waited for Fyre to say something because he looked like he had something to say but as expected wasn't able to again.

"Do you want to see and talk to him? Before he's transported back by Marjorie?" Tian Zi offered, seeing that Fyre was still hesitating to say something. Fortunately, with his suggestion, the Omega nodded as he sniffled. Jonathan was one of the people who had shared a close bond with Remi. Jonathan was also the person who was with her before she died so he wanted to talk to him. It feels like it's the closure that he was waiting for since he's aware that he can't stay this way for long. He has to release himself from the guilt he was feeling. He has to move on and go live his life like Remi would wish for him to do.

"All right. I'll arrange a meeting between you two... For now, I'll leave you to rest." Tian Zi replied in relief because finally, Fyre was being responsive. He rubbed the Omega's hair with a bright smile before he stood up from the bed, planning to give Fyre some space however before he took his fourth step, he halted his walk hearing the Omega's faint voice.

"T-Thank you, Zi... and I'm sorry," Fyre whispered. His voice was a little hoarse from all the crying he did but Tian Zi heard it clearly. Fyre was very thankful and at the same time apologetic for all the mean treatments he showed the Alpha when all Tian Zi did was be nice to him.

"Hmmn, but if you're really sorry... try yelling back at me again. I missed seeing your irritated expression and our constant bickering... I prefer seeing you with a frown than tears in your eyes." Tian Zi laughed. At the same time, hearing the Alpha's message, Fyre blushed before he frowned, hiding emotion, and turned around so his back would now face the Alpha.

"That's more like it. I think you'll get better soon." Tian Zi chuckled and just shook his head before finally sitting on the couch where he usually sat so he could give Fyre as much space as he needed while he could still see what was happening from afar. Later he will arrange a meeting between Jonathan and Fyre.
