chapter 33- No action, only discovery

(James)

"Don't be afraid of dying, be afraid of surviving while everyone else is dying." Page 67

I looked down at the back of my palm, a purple glowing tattoo with unknown runes circling a miniature moving clock. It was magical, extraordinary. On the third day, we traveled between realms. It seemed like once it hit midnight, we naturally traveled back to the place where the gang collectively called it the Mist Realm. We then spent the six hours in that realm to explain what abilities we had and what was the most effective way to use them. The strange part in all the discussions was that we could only talk about the flipped cards, which led to our theory that only the cards shown could be explained to others, while the rest were hidden. This made our voices mute, and any writing and drawings vanished before we could show the others.

Some kind of restriction, I guess?

The class cards were the only information we could spread, so all of us had to memorize each other's abilities and skills.

It seemed each class card only had three abilities as the set limit.

Once we had an understanding, we knew what a good outline or formation as a party was.

Khaza and Ellie seemed long-range, with a pistol and bow, which seemed a pretty good combination. So, in the formation, they were at the back or middle.

Tommy was the shield for most of the group, though they didn't take it seriously since he got knocked out last time. But the reason was much more complicated than that. Since he was mostly out of mystic units, he couldn't form a strong enough armor overlay. So, we did some testing, and it seemed like he could at least form his armor for five minutes, twice a day, then he would be empty of fuel.

But he seemed to be the best tank for the group. While if not for my leader position, I would be the scout, but that position was Maddie's. She was fast and quick and could quickly halt any enemy if they got too close to her.

Maxwell was the support. He didn't have any healing spells, but he could fortify us to an extent.

Many abilities were too complex for our understanding, so we needed time and training. But Maddie said she was feeling something coming, something bad.

Of course, I was nervous.

Each day after that, we did training. While I just looked at weapon training videos and so forth, I then shared them with the gang, hopefully giving them a somewhat idea of how to fight, defend, evade, or run.

Khaza, Maddie, and I had the luck of many extra hours of training and planning ahead.

Khaza seemed to have an unlimited supply of bullets, all thanks to one of his abilities known as the

[Mirror of Treasure.]

[The second ability can allow the user to manifest a transparent glass treasure box. When objects are consumed by this ability, it can retrieve and produce an exact carbon copy. As long as you have enough mystic units, you can even create a copy of a card weapon, but it will be one rank lower than the original. However, there is a time limit for how long these copied card weapons can materialize in the real world.]

This was handy, as once Khaza supplied it with bullets from his card cards, which naturally seemed to be three weapons into one - a saber, pistol, and a bullet - but all seemed to be connected spiritually. So if my weapon broke, all broke.

So, Tommy and Khaza actually made a plan they called the Farm Method. Using one window to open and use Tommy as bait since he had a healing factor, while Khaza would shoot.

If they got too close, Tommy would pierce them with a polearm he created.

Both of them did this for many hours, gaining many coins.

Tommy made chains for both Khaza and himself, so the rest of the group would tug on it if any of them seemed to be in danger.

It had been working as both had accumulated more than a thousand and seven hundred coins, which they haven't used yet.

It was a repetitive process. We didn't have food or water, so there was a limit to how long the farming could last.

During the couple of nights, we've spent there, everyone has worked together to make the place fairly comfortable. Many of us moved shelves and potted plants around, while Tommy tirelessly crafted hammocks hung throughout the tavern. Members of our gang assisted him, using materials already found within the tavern and binding chains together to construct the hammocks.

It certainly seemed like everything was progressing well and coming together nicely.
