Part 3: Chapter 50: A short lived relief

8 August 2019.

When Sonia woke she looked around. Only the white walls and hospital bed gave her a clue. She had vague memories of the last couple of days - the rush to catch a plane. Medical personnel drifted in and out from view … and Curt, but it couldn’t have been him.

Still weak she reached for the water and guzzled it down. Thankful for the closed curtains, she threw the white sheet from her. They bandaged her right leg, the burning sensation gone. She feared the worst when infection had set in. The rest of her body was healing, the scars lighter. She knew she had malaria, the constant fever and headaches were a giveaway.

The relief of her rescue dawned on her; tears of gratitude fell on her arm. "I bless your name, Lord. Wherever this is, I am glad you rescued me."

The curtains moved and a strong deep voice asked: "Can we come for a visit?"

Apprehensive she covered herself before she replied: "Yes."
