Chapter 1: Prologue

Somewhere on a vast land;

At least three dozen people are engaged in a battle. All of them consist of men and women. Majority of them take an ugly and dreadful form. Red bloodshot eyes, scaly dark skin, jagged teeth and two pairs of horrifying horns laid on their heads. They snarled and hissed at their opponents. 

Their opponents consist of different kinds. Although all were human, they possessed different abilities. Some were dressed in white clothes, with white hair falling freely, and wings protruding from their backs. This enables them to launch themselves up in the air to attack. Another kind, does not hold the power of flight, but they possess magical abilities of various forms. Dressed in black, they merge with the shadows and chant their spells against their enemies, either inflicting pain or vanquishing them at once.

The remaining two kinds hold immense strength and agility. Their swiftness makes them the predators, and their strength makes them powerful. One kind has the special ability of transforming into beasts. Large animals that can devour their prey within seconds and can go on for hours. The others, who were in human form had only one thing distinguishing them, their fang like teeth protruding from the corners of their mouth, enabling them to kill their opponents just by a single bite. 

"Just give up! You can't defeat us. You have already lost!" Snarled the leader of the ugly creatures. They are demons! He held a sword in his hand, blood sheathing it. His red eyes scanned the field, he had a smirk on his face.

"You are not going to win, Lucifer. We might be outnumbered, but we're not giving up." Yelled one of the men that were dressed in black. A Witch!

"This isn't your world, you belong in the deepest parts of hell. Surrender now or perish." Said a woman that was dressed in white. Her white wings flapped vigorously in the air. An Angel!

Lucifer cackled manically. His yellow jagged teeth are in full display. "Charge!" Two of the giant beasts lurched towards the demons and tore a few heads off. The pungent smell of blood, the snarls and the clanking of swords was all that could be heard for minutes.

Lucifer watched as his minions attacked. A woman with a sword flew towards him with a battle cry. He immediately defended himself by blocking her attack.

"Dear Seraphina, why do you bother?" He then gave a powerful strike which sent her backwards but she landed on her feet.

"Because the world will be better off without you." She charged again, this time delivering the strike but it affected him in no way.

 He then grabbed her neck, squeezing tightly. "I am too powerful for you, and for your lowly alliances. This precious world of yours will be under my control soon. And you can't do anything about it." She struggled to get free by using her sword, but he just flung it away. A look of terror was on her face.

"Seraphina!" A male witch cried out. He charged towards Lucifer but a strong force pushed him onto his knees. He struggled to look up. Lucifer had a psychotic grin on his face. The man on the ground started to wheeze. His body felt heavy and weak. He collapsed onto the ground, struggling to breathe.

"Stop!" Seraphina screamed. Lucifer had released his strong hold on her and turned his attention to the man. She tried to move but she couldn't. Lucifer's power was surreal. He could control anyone without touching them. He is indeed the devil.

"So, this is your betrothed Seraphina. I must say that I expected more from you. He's a weakling for a witch."

"Y-you w-will die!" The man stuttered. Lucifer's eyes lit up in amusement. "Hehe, I think you mean, YOU will die!" The man's face started to turn green and prickly. Seraphina could only watch in horror. 

"Please, take me." She pleaded. 

"But there won't be any fun in that." And with a single breath, the man bursts like a bubble, blood splattering around.

"Now that's the fun, seeing that look on your face." Seraphina cried out, her yell vibrating through the field. He killed him, Lucifer killed her beloved. She looked around her and saw most of her friends dead, there were still so many more demons and only a few of them remained.

"Lucifer!" A woman yelled. Her black dress flowed freely and her red hair shone in the evening's sun. Her eyes were filled with determination. 

"Ah, another prey. Do you want to help her Great witch." He asked the woman with a pretend bow.

She brought out her wand and started to chant a spell. Seraphina could only stare at her.

"I'm sending you away Lucifer." She said without a hint of hesitation. He just smiled.

"Let's see how you can." Seraphina collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily. She saw her friend circling the devil. He had a look of amusement and it repulsed her. In the blink of an eye, he was in front of her, and then he threw her onto the ground. The woman got up but he shoved her back down and kicked her hard.

"No matter what stupid spell you chant, you can't defeat me." He raised her into the air, his nails elongated and pressed against her neck.

"What a sight, the Great witch writhing in my hands." 

"Lucifer!" Seraphina yelled. Not Lucia, she can't let him kill Lucia.

"You have always had a big ego, Lucifer."

"It adds to my character dear. Don't you like it?" He then started to pierce her skin with his nails.

Lucia looked towards her friend. She then spoke, her mouth moved but no sound could be heard. 

Seraphina's eyes widened when she figured out what Lucia said.They couldn't do that, It was too dangerous!

"The world will have to do without the Great Witch." 

"Y-yes and without you too." Before Lucifer could react, she slammed her hand onto his chest, and completed her spell. She channelled it through him, a smile on her face. He got startled, staring at her in shock.

"W-what.." Before he could say anything else. A bright beam hit him. Seraphina used her light energy to attack him. His hold on Lucia got lose. 

"What are you doing!" He yelled. Then another woman in a black dress casted a spell on him also. There was a loud blast, the air around them picking up intensely.

"It has started!" One of the witches yelled. They then joined the attack, each of them chanting spells. There were only five witches remaining.

"No! I won't let you!" He growled, thrashing and trying to get away from the blasts. His minions were rooted to the ground, the air around them got thick and they felt powerless.

The two last beasts that remained held onto Lucifer tightly, holding him in place. The other creature sank his fangs into Lucifer to distract him from moving. He was the last vampire on the field.

"Arrgh!!" He snarled, but he couldn't resist. Lucia walked towards him, she placed her hand on his head. 

"I told you Lucifer, your ego will be your undoing." She then chanted one last spell, a loud sound blasted through the forest. The force yanked them all to different places, except for Lucia. Lucifer fell onto one knee, a bright red light crackling through the ground. His minions shrieked in pain. They started to burn, their scaly skin peeling off into nothing.

"This can't be!!" Before Lucia could move, he dragged her onto the ground. A cry escaped her lips. 

"You! You are going to die!" He growled in anger. He held her neck tightly. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get free. 

"Lucia, get out of there!". Seraphina yelled. She finally got free, but it wasn't for long because Lucifer punched his hand into her chest, grappling her heart! She stared down at Lucifer, she is going to die! 

"You're dying with me, Great witch." He squeezed her heart and Lucia's eyes turned hollow. She fell backwards motionlessly. 

"I will be back!" He yelled and he sank under the ground.

They had won! They defeated the devil. A surge of relief washes over them. But once they looked down, a pang filled their hearts. She was gone. She gave her life to save theirs.

Everywhere became silent. The speed of the air was reduced and the cracked ground returned to its original form. "Lucia, thank you. You have saved us all. Farewell...." Said Seraphina. She then closes Lucia's eyes. The two beasts howled, it was a howl of sadness and pain. They all bowed their heads in respect. Because of her, they were alive, and she will never be forgotten.

Firstly, it's a fantasy romance book. Although I know you you guys know that already.

Secondly, the book consists mostly of highschool drama, at least at the first half of the book. But the romance and the thrill you're looking for will still be in it.

Thirdly, I try to update the book everyday, so you don't have to worry about my updating schedule. And I'm so sorry about any grammatical errors. I try my best to re-read before and after I've uploaded and then correct the mistakes. I'll try to prevent future errors.
