Chapter 16 Head-to-head

Collin, who was drinking soup, turned his head at the sound. The man behind him, carrying a tray, was taken by surprise. Collin looked at Renata, the man looked at him, and there was a brief pause. Before the man could come any closer, he suddenly threw the tray at Collin.

Almost in the same instant, or strictly speaking, half a second before the man made his move, Luke, who was sitting next to Collin, quickly got up and kicked the tray.

The tray abruptly changed direction, splashing onto the man. The people around them were startled and panicked, squealing and screaming. Suddenly, several men armed with knives rushed out from the once peaceful shop full of customers. Without knowing who they were targeting, they all headed toward Collin.
