CHAPTER 31

I walk over to the window overlooking the city. Even though I’m a little scared of heights, I go close enough to get a good look at the view.

Ace walks up behind me, and wraps his arms around my waist.

‘I’ll receive an email later from June, with the surveillance footage. We will look at it together.’

‘Okay,’ I nod. Ace slowly turns me around to face him.

‘Why is your left cheek red?’ All the crying I’ve been doing has removed my foundation.

‘It’s nothing. I’m just feeling a bit flustered with everything going on,’ I mumble.

‘Strange it’s only one cheek,’ he says. A bell chimes in the penthouse.

‘That would be dinner,’ Ace smiles, collecting the food, placing it on the kitchen bench, and grabbing two plates and some cutlery. He brings our plates over to the coffee table in front of the couch.

‘We’re not going to eat at the dining table?’ I ask.

‘I thought we could watch a movie while we eat. It would be a good distraction from today,’ he explains.
