Never Forget

"Dear Andrew and Isaac,

By the time your reading this I'm probably dead, and I need you two to know that I love you. Andrew, Isaac, im sorry, im sorry I can't be there to see you grow up, there was so much I wanted to tell and show you, but now I won't get the chance. In this box is some money I've been saving for a while now, it should be enough to afford to move you to a proper home in a city and away from this shabby little town, and Andrew I've left a dagger in here, it's all I have left of your father, so please for my sake, live, live the life you want to and don't let anyone get in the way, and both of you alway remember I love you so much

(the last name was to worn to be read and there's a key attached to the bottom)

You put the note in you pocket and pushing past the tears you open the unlock Iron box to find a box full of silver coins with a few gold and an ornate dagger with a gold hilt and a single red gem in the center with a dirty steel blade in a black sheath.

"C'mon lad its time to go, we need tae git those injuries properly treated asap" you both walk out you look around and notice there isnt a single body anywhere

"Where'd all the bodies go?" you ask Sam while holding back tears

"Hm? oh, ah set up a small graveyard just outside o' town" he explained

"But... why? you don't even know these people" you ask

"Well... I suppose I'll tell tae truth, truth is yer Da was a close friend o' mines, he asked me tae keep a look out fer ya if ah had th' chance, so whin I saw th' smoke comin from 'ere I grabbed ma horse an' came as fast as ah could, but by th' time ah got ere' it was to late" he explained

"Was?" is he dead? you pondered, I mean you. always assumed but it would be nice to have some closure

"Aye, one day he up and left without a trace an' nobody's seen 'im since" he explained. Well there go's the "closure" you wanted. We arrived at the graveyard and it was small only 7 or 8 graves, it was more like mounds of dirt with a poorly made cross, but you appreciated the effort

"Where are the rest?" you wondered, only maybe half the village is here.

"Any corpses that were unrecognizable or impossible to move ah burned, ah apologize if you are against it".

"Did you find one with armor on? a little taller than me with short brown hair and scars all over his arms?" you wondered, you wanted to know if your brother died or not

"hmm... Nay ah don't think ah did, though it's possible that the armor fell off or the flames made 'im unrecognizable" he said. However much you dread to think about it, it is possible...

"All right I guess we should leave" the dwarf whistled and you saw a mid-sized grey war horse come out from behind some of the wreckage

"Tis es grey, there should be enough room for tae both of us" Sam said

"Thats quite the original name" you say with a smirk

"Ah, shut up th' name doesn't matter, now, need help on?" he asked

"No ill be fine" after a bit of struggling you managed to get on the back of the horse

"Ready?" Sam asked

"Ready" you said confidently, though in reality you were extremely nervous, you had never been very far from your home town, and now your leaving for good, I suppose you can only look forward and hope for the best.
