Choking Escape

Caspian ran around the room as he did before, gathering fish, killing them, and tossing them into the pile after extracting their Essence. As he did this, Saydie wondered just what he was doing, it seemed so odd that this fish boy would strive to collect every fish that entered the chamber. However, she made no attempts to ask him about it as she wanted to see what he would do with them for herself so she could add it to her report. Once Caspian had collected over 300 fish without letting any of them pass, he stopped and let the rest pass while pretending to slip.

"Aw, I almost got a new high score!" Caspian shouted with childlike frustration. He got up and walked over to his pile of fish and while he gazed at his handy work, he was actually busy converting Essence into stat points.

Caspian decided to only extract half of his Essence to upgrade himself, he knew that he may need to reserve it for a while. Besides that, he knew he would need to save a little for his MP to regenerate just in case of emergencies.

"Was that just a game you were playing?" Saydie asked Caspian, realizing that what she thought was some sort of secret was just a game of a child.

"Yes, I wanted to catch all of them one last time before I left, it was the one way I kept myself occupied, now let's get going." Caspian said.

"Sure thing, but first I should get ready." Saydie said as she removed the pack that was on her back the whole time, though it did not look like it could hold much. She proceeded to pull out a small yellow oval shaped device and pressed it against her nose and mouth. She then took a deep breath inward and placed the object back inside the pack.

"While I am here, would you like to wear any clothes? I have extra in here." Saydie smiled awkwardly and looked down and offered Caspian the clothing.

Caspian was confused at first because up until this moment, Caspian had never even considered the fact that he was naked. He blushed as the realization dawned on him and he took the clothes. Saydie had handed him a black unitard that was extremely large, Caspian could never fit into this in his current state.

As if reading Caspian's thoughts, Saydie simply said "Do not worry, it will shrink down to fit whoever wears it. I thought that might be better for the both of us, or for me at least." Saydie said, it was not as if she enjoyed seeing this naked fish boy, he could not have been more than ten years old, she just felt weird not offering the clothes to him.

"Okay, let's talk about how you're going to move around with your injuries." Caspian said as he stared into the overhead tunnel.

"I can move things with my mind, including myself, but not for extended amounts of time. If I had something to lean on, things would be easier." Saydie explained.

At that point, Caspian shot one of his spikes out of his arm and caught it with his other hand, he then handed it to Saydie.

"Just be sure not to touch the tip as it is poisonous." Caspian warned and then helped Saydie up onto her feet. They made their way to the opening above and Caspian grabbed Saydie and unexpectedly threw her straight up into the tunnel. Saydie recovered in the air though and when she got into the tunnel, she stabbed her spike deep into the side. She then used her good leg to propel herself upward, pulling the spike out of the flesh and redepositing it above where she had stabbed before. Caspian followed suit, using both of his spikes to climb upward with ease. They climbed in silence, both keeping an eye ahead of them, hoping that Serpentina did not get hungry any time soon. Eventually, the pair made their way to a more level area where they could walk normally for a while. Saydie was not looking as energetic as before, so Caspian offered her one of his fish he had brought with him.

"I would love to eat right now, unfortunately, I don't have any cooking supplies with me. Let's just keep moving forward for now." Saydie said, breathing heavily and squeezing her ribs. When it was time to climb again, Caspian grabbed Saydie and put her on his back.

"Let me carry you for a while, no arguments, rest until its time to walk again." Caspian said as he jumped up into the next section of the intestine. It was a slow process, but Caspian did not mind, and Saydie did not mind relying on Caspian as she was exhausted from the constant pain. She even managed to fall asleep for a while.

When she awoke, she was surprised to see that Caspian had set her down and was sitting down beside her, she also heard something new, a loud growling sound.

"Where are we?" she asked, confused because they should have been much further inside the intestines right now.

"You were sleeping so soundly that I carried you the rest of the way, the only problem was that you kept snoring in my ear and drooling on my shoulder." Caspian smiled wearily as he looked at Saydie.

"So, we are near the throat then? I can't believe you did that, you are honestly insane, but thank you, I genuinely mean that." Saydie said, thankful that the fish boy in front of her did not just leave her for dead.

"Don't thank me just yet, its your time to shine anyway." Caspian said as he stood up and thew Saydie back onto his shoulder.

Caspian made his way into the throat of Serpentina, it was finally time for them to escape or die trying.

"Okay Saydie, are you ready to do this?" Caspian asked, looking over his shoulder to his new friend.

Saydie nodded her head and began to concentrate her mind, Suddenly Serpentina's Uvula began to shrink and vibrate as if a force was squeezing it. Serpentina opened her mouth and began shrieking and thrashing her head in different directions. Caspian could see out into the wide ocean, all they had to do was jump out and make a swim for it. Then, an all too familiar scene for Caspian unfolded in front of him, the entire area had gone completely black. However, this was what the two escapees had been counting on. Caspian shot a spike into the constricted uvula which would buy them a few more minutes at least. Caspian jumped out of the enormous mouth of Serpentina and with his increased speed, made his way away from Serpentina.

"I can lead you to land, from here, if you wouldn't mind that is." Saydie said, still hugging Caspian's shoulders tightly. Only an hour later, they had reached a sand bank and began to say their good-byes.

"Thank you for all of your help monst- I mean Caspian, you forever have my gratitude and I hope you find your family." Saydie said, she then hugged Caspian and walked away.

"You helped me just as much Saydie, and I hope you get better soon, who knows, maybe we will meet again one day." Caspian laughed and turned away as well.

...….

A few days later, Saydie stood in front of the general of the Holy Court Allegiance Monster Hunting Association. She placed her hand over her chest and bowed onto one knee as her injuries were now healed.

"Report your findings soldier." the general commanded sternly.

"General, the fish shortage was due to the legendary monster Serpentina, it could not be stopped, retreat was the only option." Saydie said making sure to speak clearly.

"Anything else to report?" Asked the general.

"Yes, General Frost, there appears to be a newly discovered tribe lurking in the bottom of the ocean."
