The Tension Part-I

"Hi.... hello mom." Theresa was nervous as words weren't flowing from her lips.

"How are you feeling now?" Thalia sounded concerned.

"Better than yesterday." Theresa took a deep breathe, "Mom, about last time..." Before she could speak further, Thalia interrupted her, "No, don't say anything about it. Let bygones be bygones."

Theresa's lips formed a thin line, "Okay, Mom."

"Also, I would like to apologize for saying those things that I shouldn't have and never meant." Thalia sobbed a little from the other side of phone.

"No, Mom. Don't apologize for it. To be honest, you weren't entirely wrong, well, I am not trying to make an excuse but due to my memory crash, I didn't seem to recall anything but that doesn't give me the right to talk rudely with you." Regret filled Theresa's voice as a drop of tear fell down from her eyes.

"Oh, my dear daughter. How I wish I could hug you right now." Thalia let out a soft chuckle. "Anyways, I heard you, Demi, Egan and Marcellus are in Meteora. Enjoy your time, okay?"

"Yup, Mom. I will." Theresa ambled towards Tsikeli Boutique Hotel which was a 5 minutes walk from Taverna Gardenia.

"Bye, Ther. Take care."

"Bye, Mom. You too." With that, Theresa ended the call.

After a while, Theresa finally reached to Tsikeli Boutique Hotel. The hotel was styled in spades and had a magnificent view like the images shown by Demi.

Theresa headed towards the reception, just to be welcomed by Egan.

As soon as he saw her, he sighed, "Where were you? I searched for you everywhere."

"That's none of your concern." Theresa went past him.

"Excuse me, I would like to get my room keys." She addressed the receptionist.

"Sure Ma'am. Your name, please." The receptionist checked in the computer.

"Theresa Gabris."

The receptionist nodded, "The Marble Room, it is registered under your name and Mr. Egan Pantos. Here's your key, Ma'am."

"I don't want to share room with him anymore instead I would like to book another room." The receptionist and Egan were puzzled by her drastic decision.

"What do you mean by another room?" Egan took a few steps towards Theresa.

Theresa didn't even bother herself to answer Egan's question.

"I'm sorry, Ma'am but I am afraid all our suites are booked." The receptionist gave a look, filled with a little pity and apology.

"Well, if that's the case then would you check in Demi Gabris's room?"

"Sure, please wait for a moment." The receptionist again went through the computer. "Under Miss Demi Gabris's and Mr. Marcellus Lytras, The Classic Room has been booked. The suite's key was taken by Mr. Lytras after the booking."

Theresa couldn't believe her ears, "Does Demi know about this?" She turned around and faced Egan.

"Yes, she knows."

Theresa took a deep breathe, "Okay, then."

Egan closed the tiny distance between them with few steps towards her. He bent a little closer and whispered in her ears, "It's fine, Theresa. I'll stay outside as long as you don't want me inside." His voice was slow and sensuous, tickling Theresa down to her core, her ears burned with the hotness of his breathe, resulting in the redness of her cheeks. She bit her lower lip with a slight nod.

Egan smirked as he proceeded to the exit of the hotel. Theresa asked for the suite key to the receptionist and entered inside the luxuriously designed room. It had an impressive marble-wall, an ambient optical fiber starlit ceiling and beautiful furniture, the room has a king-size bed, a modern, stylish bathroom with a glass shower cabin and a balcony with a charming view of the village and the hotel's garden which was a perfect upscale comfort and relaxation for Theresa's conflicted mind.

"Wow, it's lovely." As Theresa was admiring The Marble Room, her sight diverted to a nylon bag placed in the wooden table. "What's that?" Theresa scrutinized the bag, inside it, there was aluminium foil containers, a cutlery set and a bottle of red Evais. In the bottom, there was a small note, Theresa picked it up to read:

"Demi told me that you were hungry so here's some food for you. Don't worry about me, I have already eaten Spaghetti Napolitana and I'm super full. Since you do not eat Beef, leave the burger and feast the remaining foods. Also, don't be too tipsy."

-Your Egan

"Oh god, this guy. I wonder where he is. Wait, that's none of my concern. Why do I even care? He's a phoenix afterall, he can fly anywhere and shelter wherever he like. How did he even dare to say not to worry about him when he knows I will?" Egan's smiling face vividly appeared before her eyes. "But I'm displeased by his behaviour that he showed in the restaurant. He just cannot act in that manner like a proprietorial freak." Theresa frowned her eyebrows and smugged. "I wouldn't like to waste my appetite." She carried the whole bag as she pootled to the balcony.

The evening was calm, the gentle breeze of nature washed in the green leaves of the tall trees.

Theresa put the bag on the table, elegantly she gripped her hands on the balcony's railing and closed her eyes, inhaling the fresh air. She felt at ease within herself.

After opening her eyes, she looked around to admire the magnolious view. In the process, her eyes rested on the familiar lapis eyes which had been keenly observing her movements.

"God knows for how long were you staring at me!" Theresa mouthed as she rolled her eyes.

Lucian simpered, "Finally you noticed me." His voice clear and super loud.

"Are you an attention-seeker or do you think that I'm deaf?" Theresa folded her arms as she raised her eyebrows.

Lucian chuckled, "I like your sense of humour."

Theresa ignored him as she turned around to sit comfortably in the chair. "Is this all for me?" She unwrapped the aluminium foil, just to be greeted by the scent of grilled chicken, coupled with the smell of garlic and oregano. "Chicken Souvlaki." Theresa lifted the skewer and munched it. "It's appetizing and warm." Theresa smacked her lips.

"Hey, isn't that rude of you to eat alone?" Lucian's mouth watered, seeing Theresa chomp on the Souvlaki.

Theresa took a short pause, "I guess it is but who cares." She chortled as she licked her lips.

Lucian ogled at Theresa's lips, then bit by bit, his gaze pierced sharply in the corners of her neck. Suddenly, the lively atmosphere changed into a tenebrous one. His lapis eyes slightly became bloodshot as the veins around it darkened and protruded.

Theresa found herself under Lucian's uncanny gaze, "Why the hell are you staring at me?" In the swing of irritation, she threw a fork towards him which hit his right eye, before dropping on the floor.

"Ouch!!" Lucian yawped as he lightly pressed it.

"Shit!" Theresa clapped her hand over her mouth in complete surprise. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it."

Lucian didn't say anything, he just stood there in silence by lowering his head and covering his right eye.

"How can I be so reckless? Why did I even toss a fork to him in the first place?" Theresa's face turned pale with horror.

"Stay right there, I am coming to check your eyes." Theresa stood up from her seat.

"No, no. I'm fine, just calm down." Despite being hit by a fork, he gave a winsome smile.

Theresa guffawed, "You look so cute like a baby."

A flock of butterflies fluttered upon Lucian's stomach after hearing Theresa laugh. "You called me cute?" He muttered.

"Also, what happened to your eyes?" Theresa queried, inspecting his blue lapis eyes with curiosity.

"Oh, it's nothing." Lucian raked a hand through his hair.

"Uhmmm....well, I don't eat Beef so if you like it then you can have it." Theresa pointed at the Beef Burger in the table.

Lucian was astonished by her sudden offer, "Miss Gabris, are you inviting me for a dine?"

"Excuse me?" Theresa lowered her eyebrows. "Just regard this as my humble apology for hitting your eye." Theresa held the bottle of red Evais and hooked the lip of the cap with her bottom teeth and unbolted it. Though it's one of the most dangerous things one can do to one's teeth, Theresa was an expert on it so she couldn't care more about it.

"This girl is incredible." Lucian had been fascinated by Theresa's personality from the time she bumped on him.

"Apology accepted. I'm coming to your suite since burger is my favourite. Also, in return for your kindness, I am going to bring two wine glasses." Lucian grinned as he winked at Theresa.
